Mission to Mars (2000)
I'm a Little Confused
The one question I was left with after it was all over is why all of that had to happen on Mars. If a simple DNA strand was all the alien's needed, why not just buzz over to earth and get em some. A few abductions and have a nice trip home. The movie was good but silly in concept.
Settlers (2021)
Oh Well
I have never seen such long, lingering, relentless hatred. I get it that he killed her parents. Each of Remmie's parents died attempting to kill him. The mom killed his parent years earlier. So Remmie refuses to speak a single word to the guy for years? Years? In the end, the hateful girl received her just desserts - A barren Martian landscape, a limited supply of oxygen, a locked door back to safety and before her impending death the knowledge that Jerry had told her the truth about everything.
Battlestar Galactica (2004)
Thank God for Women!
Have never watched the "new" Battlestar Galactica" until last night. It seems to be a liberal Hollywood power play to give women their alleged due. Where would all these screwed up males be if strong women were not there to keep them from getting too sure of themselves. It is a routine albeit typical example of the liberal dream to place women in charge because they are so much more capable. It just nauseates me to watch junk. So I retired it.
Iron Fist (2017)
Trailed Off
I was sort of interested in this series and binge watched it for a day and a half. (I'm retired). But then the main character got a nasty scowl on his face and stayed that way for several episodes afterward. It spoiled it. The tiny little Asian girl beating the pants off of 250 pound fighters cinched about everything else. Just typical lefty Netflix crap. I need some other interests.
Enemy Within (2019)
Not So Bad
Movie was well done and photographed even though no one strayed more than 100 yards from the village. It had an abundance of tragedy that pierced the soul because the story was basically true. Made me sad.
Kalashnikov (2020)
Really Good Movie
The AK-47 is virtually everywhere in the world. It rests in the hands of the free and of tyrants. As an assault rifle I do not believe it has an equal. This movie chronicles the life of a young man who had talent and a dream. I loved it from beginning to end. The photography was beautiful and the story line fulfilling. The characters were believable and appealing. I loved it.
Monster Hunter (2020)
Not Too Bad
Not so bad if you have a few hours to spare and nothing better to do. The special effects were cool and well orchestrated. The problem with the movie is it played the whole gauntlet of tricks found in movies like Transformers and Avengers. It added in a little Dune and some Tremors. Nothing original I'm afraid. This movie will appeal more to the adolescent crowd than anyone else.
ISRA 88 (2016)
Dull and Predictable
I was mildly intrigued by the concept of the film but didn't feel it delivered any big surprises. I lived for a year in a very remote part of Iceland almost 50 years ago. I saw all of this and felt most of it while there. It changes you. These two guys showed all of the signs that long term isolation causes and reacted predictably. A bit of a yawner.
Marjorie Prime (2017)
You Have to Pay Attention
I love dialog movies, but this one had so many twists, I was having trouble keeping things straight. I guess it did not come together at the end like I expected it to. It is worth the watch if you have nothing else to do. I'm not sorry I watched it.
Hellboy (2019)
Too Much Mustard on that Dog
The movie had wonderful special effects and makeup. I got confused at the secondary plot that was on there regarding the witch. Since it was a remake of the original movie of sorts predictably it couldn't all be about Hellboy and had to be about some other things so I get that. But the director went out of his way to make it overtly satanic. It was chock-full of the occult and demonic villains. The problem was I wasn't ready for the amount of demonic activity that was that at and that turned me off and made me a bit nervous throughout the movie.
War Pigs (2015)
Not bad
War Pigs was a good little movie. If I had any complaint at all it would be about the fire exchange sequences. When this guy started shooting back they were dropping Germans wholesale. That was a trifle unrealistic but otherwise they were good scenes. It's worth the watch if you find yourself with nothing to do.
