The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022)
Got what I came for
I came for references to his past films, and it didn't disappoint.
Solid, tight film that remembers the word Fun!
The chemistry between Nic and Pedro is fantastic and I could watch more.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 6: From the Desert Comes a Stranger (2022)
This is Star Wars
More more more of this!
Keeping Luke around is what every Star Wars fan wanted to see in the sequels and now ww have the technology and masterminds behind the scenes to pull it off!
Hearing the force theme. Yoda's theme. Seeing Luke and Ashoka talk! Jedi training. Samurai type forest. Western standoffs .
This is Star Wars !
More of this please!
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 5: Return of the Mandalorian (2022)
Yes!
One of the best hours of my life living in the Star Wars universe. More of this please!
A shame that the best episode of Boba Fett doesn't have him in it, but I hope the storyline for him picks up. Tem is giving it his all!
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
My new favorite spidy film!
Won't spoil , but of this please Sony and marvel!
Never thought I would see this in my life! A great end to the home series and for other characters dating back to 2002.
Amazing!
The Lion King (2019)
Good...but not as good as the original
It's ground breaking and some of the new scenes are good. But it lacks the heart of the original. I miss Jeremy Irons as scar the most.
Beethoven (1992)
Classic
You know, I rewatched this for the first time in maybe 25 years and after having a family of my own.
This isn't the best film ever made by a long shot, but it's so endearing I couldn't help laughing, smiling and crying along. My 2 yo loved it too.
Occupation: Rainfall (2020)
Not going to be for everyone.
Look, it's not going to be for everyone. But this sort of movie excited the child within me. It's great to see different sort of films coming out of Australia. It's part buddy cop, part military thriller, part iD4. It's big and loud. Been missing marvel films. It didn't offend me or make me think I just wasted my money.
I Liked it.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
For every comic book kid and kids at heart.
I can say is this was one of the best cinema experiences of my life. I don't think you can top the ending of this movie. My jaw was on the floor, e writhing I've ever wanted in a comic book film.
The Flip Side (2018)
Absolutely not funny
I dont understand how this film is fit for cinema release? It is the most unfunny comedy I have seen recently. Not to mention zero chemistry with the cast, appalling cinematography and no sound design at all. Basically everything you would want to go to the cinema for. why oh why?!
Gladiator (2000)
A modern classic!
Such an amazing accomplishment from one of the great directors.
You just can't beat the very first colosseum fight and the reveal!
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Amazing
What a film. Best marvel Avengers film to date.
Everything about this film was perfect. I don't really have any more to add!
Ready Player One (2018)
Yes!
Spielberg is back to his fantastical roots, and I love it.
Loved the car chase scene! Amazing. The final battle, amazing. The shining sets were interesting.
Live action scenes were good. Still not a huge fan of mendlson but he was ok. Very weird how he didn't shoot wade at the end?
Was hoping the bounty hunter he hired would be some geeky internet type dude, but they never went down that path.
All in all, a fun ride
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
A FUN Star Wars film
After TLJ, I needed this film. This brings back fun, real fun, to Star Wars universe.
Love how chewie and Han meet, love the Kessel Run and the OT music playing.
The film only faulters when it becomes a little too stock standard heist type film that we've seen before.
Occupation (2018)
Wow
I've been following this production for a long time and finally traveled across town to see it.
What an epic.
Yes, the film makers didn't have all the money in the world, but what they pulled off is amazing and really made me question what is achievable in this country.
Well done to the producers.
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
A huge misfire and such a Waste!
I've been a life long star wars fan. I've eaten up everything from the franchise, while the same time not being blind to any weakness it may have. I'm not into 'creating my own star wars storylines in my head' only for a new film to let those exceptions down. My not a big fat fanboy and yes, I have a life.
The Force Awakens was one of my favorite star wars films. Yes. JJ used the framework of ANH and ROTJ to help create it - but it was a hell of fun. But most importantly, it introduced the new generation of heroes and villains. In fact, it introduced them so well that I actually cared about their story and was excited to see where it went next.
The film ended on the biggest cliff hanger in the whole series - the legendary Luke Skywalker was found.
Enter The Last Jedi, the first film to pick up almost exactly where it left off. I was really ready to like this film. TFA gave the tea the best set up ever. But I'm sorry to say, it was massively squandered.
I'm okay with pushing the franchise somewhere new. I'm okay with curve balls and plot twists. I'm okay with everything - if it's done right and is plausible to the universe it is in.
As a popcorn film - it works fine. There'res jokes, and flashy things all with ticking clock plot line to keep the characters moving.
As a Film - there are issues. The pace is choppy. There is a whole plot line that is made redundant. Another plot line that falls apart if you start thinking about it. Too convoluted.
But as a star wars film? It is very disappointing.
It's the 2nd chapter of a trilogy. The 8th film in a saga. It throws away everything TFA sets up. The Johnson seems to be very out to do his own thing. 3 new characters pop up in this film and all 3 don't add much to the plot let along be any interesting. In Empire Strikes back, we're introduced to 2 new major characters - Lando and Yoda. The rest of the time, we follow the heroes we have grown to know while the new are integrated with purpose.
The film, and now the trilogy seem to have no direction. What's the over arching story?
And finally, for a film that 'takes risks' and 'breaks new ground' - it really doesn't. There's no commitment by the film makers to do so. The scene where both Rey and Ben ask for each other to join them could have been a fantastic way to be different - Rey go dark or Kylo Goes light or they switch completely. But no - they are back to the same afterwards.
When Finn decides to sacrifice himself - could have been a moment that the characters truly remembered him. But no - a list minute deus ex machine by Rose.
And BB8 in this film was Prequel Trilogy bad. If you liked him spitting chips out as the star wars jingle played, or piloting a freakin AT-ST - you can no longer take a swing at the PT.
And the shot with BB8, Rose and Finn on the AT-ST, running through the hanger - was as bad as the swinging monkeys in Crystal Skull.
I could go on, but yeah. Not great!
Red Billabong (2016)
Finally an Australian monster movie
I went in not knowing what to expect from another Aussie film, but left very surprised at story about two brothers and a big outback monster.
The cast were very good. I'm not a home and away fan, so never heard of the lead but the two male leads were excellent in capturing the Aussie spirit without making us look like cliché bogans. My favorites though would have to be Anya and BJ. Ayna, played by a new comer, gets into just as much of the action as the boys and that was really refreshing to see. BJ starts off really full on but becomes the the guy you can't help but like and laugh along with.
About half way through, the film really picks up and the last act is pretty full on. The creature design is great and they did a good job with infusing our history and culture into the story line.
I hope this becomes a franchise: there a lot of other Australian myths out there.
