The Great British Bake Off (2010)
Best Competition Show Ever
I fell in love with the first episode. Sure it has its groan worthy moments, but the way the bakers care for and support one another is inspiring. And I've walked out with many ideas of new bakes to try.
Death to 2020 (2020)
Cute way to wrap up the year
The only thing that outshined the humor in this is the absolute tragedies we have to find a way to laugh off. Worth the watch if only to see how much of an accomplishment surviving 2020 is
Big Time Adolescence (2019)
It Tries
It tries to be a moving coming-of-age story. But it's really just a story. Most of it is not really compelling, and I found myself not really caring whether it worked out for the characters or not.
Dark (2017)
It's.....Dark.....
And complex and sometimes hard to follow. But I can't stop watching
How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast) (2019)
Pretty Much As Advertised
There's not a whole lot I can put here to add to or take away what you would expect of the show. It's a clever story, very stylized and well told. It's not gonna blow you away, but you're probably not gonna be pissed off at yourself for watching it either.
Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005)
Finally gave this a shot
After being encouraged by several friends to watch this for years, I finally made the decision to stick with it. I was not disappointed.
The complexity of this show, and the lessons it teaches: That doing the right thing is not always easy; as other lessons in morality would have us believe: are the foundations of a future where we get out of this black and white/right and wrong thinking and learn how to make decisions that are right for the situation. Maybe the fact that millennials grew up watching this is a key contributor to their ability to think in a way that is little more flexible and situation dependent
Knives Out (2019)
Way more fun than I expected
And I expected it to be a lot of fun. This movie doesn't take itself too seriously, and that's a great thing. Every person plays a critical role in moving the plot along and getting us to a truly satisfying conclusion. One of the most fun films I've seen in theaters in quite some time.
Mosaic (2007)
typical stan, but not bad at all
stan lee has a penchant for taking a ridiculous idea and turning it into something fairly entertaining. let's face it, spider-man was a ridiculous idea, but it has grown into an amazing phenomenon. mosaic will never get there; stan is way past his prime, but it is entertaining none the less.
the main character is likable, but not as much as stan wants you to like her. one thing that makes no sense to me is that the movie is titled mosaic, when the character mosaic is neither the protagonist nor antagonist of the movie. sure, maggie would have been a stupid name for a superhero movie, but surely they could have done better than a secondary character for the title.
it's more entertaining than some of the big budget comic book movies, worth the the hour and fifteen minutes or so required to watch it.
