The film reflects well the historical events and a cruel shock from the destruction of a peaceful life and from a misunderstanding WHY they were attacked! In real historical documents on the defense of the Brest Fortress, there were even more heroic and shocking moments than in the film. It is impossible to accommodate everything in one film, it is necessary to remove a large cycle. Therefore, the film uses some "cliches". Not all actors played flawlessly. Probably without this it was impossible to do, but all the same thanks to the authors for their work!

You can argue a long time about the embodiment of the subtleties of the book, reporting on their expectations from the film (after all, about the director of "Hatiko") to appreciate the dramatic character of acting. Or you can get satisfaction from family viewing. Pretty soft, not shocking story. Despite the scene of the death of the dog at the hands of the bandit, the events in childhood are smoothed to the stage of the next dog's life. The film is understandable to a wide audience, but in this sense it is a huge plus, because it allows children and adults to accept the idea of emotions and feelings in animals and believe in the idea of rebirth. Although the idea is so familiar to many people that no one notices innovation. Hence, apparently, the plot of rigidity during the filming, before the release of the film, to minimize its value to the audience. To create a normal film in the United States, you need to consider the interests of various organizations so as not to get sued. Meanwhile, bloody scenes and scenes of violence in mass films do not irritate anyone. And yes, despite the obligatory presence of Negroes in the American film (sorry, African-Americans), there are no sexual minorities. Not the best film adaptation of this story. The authors should have taken the script more seriously. The actors starred the film, but they could not fix it. There is no other adaptation. This story is so important that it is worth seeing, despite the shortcomings. Although the story of a woman, she charged more for men than for women.
