Solar Opposites: The Unlikely Demise of Terry's Favorite Shot Glass (2021)
How is Mike worse than the Duke?
Seriously. The Duke mass murdered his civilians for his own power while Mike kept his citizens happy at the cost of one life. The worst thing Mike did was attempting to murder her. The Duke character change felt weird though the emotional beats were good. The wall episode last season was better overall though this wasn't bad.
Fargo: Raddoppiarlo (2020)
Great episode
Great episode. Mounting tensions. Care more about the characters by the end of it.
The Umbrella Academy: The End of Something (2020)
Great episode
Liked almost everything about this episode. What I didn't like though is the family spent no time grieving Ben. I get he's coming back as a different version of himself but the sweetheart lovable Ben they knew is gone forever, and it did not feel that way. At least Klaus(and Diego) who had interacted with Ben recently should have said something. I know, it's nitpicking, but after a large number of forgettable episodes them giving Vanya and Sissy more time than grieving Ben felt kind of dirty and even betrayed the twist at the end of him coming back. Great episode otherwise though, and looking forward to season 3!
The Umbrella Academy: Right Back Where We Started (2020)
More of what we love
If the whole episode was like the first 10 minutes this would be a 9/10. Unfortunately after the first 10 minutes it starts dragging a bit and they could have picked up the pace. Love the style, the colors, the music, the aesthetic. The characters are still not the strongest despite great performances, hopefully the writing gets better along the way. One more complaint I have is how random and meaningless death feels in this series leaving us desensitized to people dying but maybe hopefully that gets better too.
Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts: Cactus Town (2020)
Beautiful
Great music, animation, characters. Loved the snakes, and cried when the song broke the mega mute's mind control.
Avatar: The Last Airbender: City of Walls and Secrets (2006)
Masterful satire on capitalism
Beautiful episode, and Ba Sing Se is a masterful satire on capitalism. The lies, the manipulation, the thought police to maintain 'order', to me they seem like even bigger and more despicable villains than the fire nation, but maybe that's because of how I can relate them to our own lives and the police/surveillance states we live in with constant censorship of evil, segregation of economic classes, ruthless/moronic authority figures, people living in fear. If nothing else it is a great critique of North Korea, but to me it seems like a critique of capitalist societies in general, be it America or China or India.
Meal (2020)
Only a 6.6?
This was fantastic. Strong, strong message against domestic violence and a haunting commentary on the political chaos and abuse students are surrounded by and supposed to take high stakes examinations in. Great cinematography, great performances, my only problem was the first shot lingered a bit too long. I get why, but it still felt overlong. India needs filmmakers like this.
The Kelly Clarkson Show: Joel McHale/Grace Byers (2020)
Joel McHale is the best
That's it
Let's have the Joel McHale show where he forces kittens onto random celebrities.
Do it, NBC.

Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet: Blood Ocean (2020)
It was okay...
Brad is super funny. 'Ducktales' was hilariously meta and suited the character, great writing there. Ian is good as always, Poppy was pretty funny. The drama in the middle felt manufactured and over the top. Not too many negatives to talk about but it wasn't an unforgettable finale and it didn't leave me excited for more. The ending and the conflict it teases has already bored me, I hope they don't actually capitalize on that too much for season 2. Not the best episode of the season, not the worst. Gosh I hope season 2 breaks out of this mediocrity and actually makes use of the talented cast and high budget.
Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet: Brendan (2020)
Good episode, some problems
I said this in my main series review too but Rachel need to go. By far the most disinteresting and unlikeable character in the series and every time the plot switches to her it the pace is lost and so is my interest. Dana has been great for the last few episodes as the streamer and still wasn't bad but the conflict at the end felt a little forced, not too much of a problem though.
I love Brad and Jo, Brad has been consistently interesting and funny throughout and Jo has been super funny the last few episodes, this one was no exception. The two together are very funny too. David has been increasingly funny the last couple of episodes too, a very Toby from the Office vibe.
The main plot with Ian and Poppy was fine, not too interesting, and the twist was okay. Interesting enough to hold your attention and the actors do well but the conflict doesn't feel too pressing or interesting. Still, it's definitely very watchable and there are many great performances. Megan Ganz's writing is great this episode. Even previously annoying CW has a funny moment.
In summary, plot could have been a bit more interesting but a good episode nonetheless.
Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet: Permadeath (2020)
Satisfying and good episode
Very satisfying and one of the best episodes so far(ignoring DQD). Great characters like Ian, Poppy, Brad get more spotlight. Jo is hilarious this episode. Even previously boring characters like David have compelling arcs and funny lines here. The 'basement people' are super funny as always. The tester (and the writer to be honest) gets limited screentime, hooray (do not like them)! Loving the streamer's story too, seems believable and she is pretty likeable. Loved the production value on the fight. Great episode all around, good job team. Now just make every episode like this one.
Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet: Non-Player Character (2020)
A better episode
After an onslaught of painfully mediocre episodes with manufactured conflict and drama and writing that is plain bad(ignoring ADQD), we finally find an episode with strong character moments, plot progression, and some great delivery by all the cast.
The exception is as always the testers, or for this episode just the one tester, who is just as uninteresting and unlikeablea as ever, bringing the flow to a grinding halt every time she appeared.
For once the old writer dude, the other tester, and even the de jure boss were all funny with passable character arcs which leaves me hopeful for the future of this series. Danny and Rob were great as always. Rob's closing line was delivered perfectly and super funny. Let's have more of this and less of the stuff we've seen in the previous episodes.
Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet (2020)
Has potential, but...
Mythic Quest has its bright moments. Most of them involve Danny Pudi's Brad or Ian Grimm's Rob McElhenney.
This review is going to ignore episode 5 because it is so tonally and thematically different and seperate from the show. Also this is written before Season 2.
The good:
As I said, Danny Pudi and Rob McElhenney are great, even though the writing could be better they are charming and funny enough to steal the show with what they're working with. John DiMaggio is great whenever he appears. The character 'Sue' has a tiny role but is in general very funny.
The bad:
Poppy Li is not a good character generally but she has her moments. 'Jo', Ian's assistant has funny moments but can get pretty annoying pretty quick. The boss, 'David' is conceptally funny as a de jure boss with no real power but unfortunately this concept is underutilized and he does very little in the show.
The ugly:
The testers are the worst, most uninteresting, one-note, pootly written characters I have seen in a long, long time. Hopefully we see less of them or none at all in the future. I do not even see any potential of them being interesting, they are just boring.
The writing is mediocre throughout, with most of the jokes falling flat unless Pudi or McElhenney delivers them, but even that has exceptions. I do not care about any of the characters except the aforementioned two. The interactions between the characters feel fake and contrived. For the show to ever reach its true potential and justify its talented cast the writing needs to get better. Right now the weakest points of the show is the writing and the testers. The writing needs to get better and the testers need to go. We need more Brad and Ian. Some characters like Poppy, David and Jo have potential to be a lot better. This show has the potential to be as funny and memorable a workspace comedy as the Office. We can look past this bad first season, but the writing needs to get better and these flaws need to be fixed.
Looking forward to seeing improvements in the future.

Unnecessary melodrama and stupid decisions
Come on man, Nathan could just have told her he was out of gigs, or Nora could have used the VR thing instead of calling him, I hate when characters making stupid decisions pushes a story forward. Also basically no advancements in the story and Nathan's coding ability seems to basically be a superpower. Literally nothing was tied up in the finale and more happened in the penultimate episode than this one.
Upload: Update Eve (2020)
Best episode so far
Great episode, plot heavy throughout, egg bit was super funny and sad, the whole update concept is cool and the dilemma at the end does not feel like forced melodrama which is a lot for a penultimate episode. Excited to see what comes next.

More of the same...less bad, more okay
Okay episode. Protagonists are sweet together that's about it. More character moments but it feels like the plot hasn't moved in three episodes and it's beginning to get weary. Why not make less episodes if you have less story?

Good episode
Good episode, solid character beats, dad and Nathan were sweet and Nora is always great. However I hate the side characters at this point though I didn't hate them at first and I couldn't care less about the military guy and Nora's work friend. They bring the pace to a grinding halt, aren't funny, and are pretty much just annoying at this point. Didn't advance much plot wise but again, the character moments were good, so it gets a pass for that. Would I rewatch this episode? No.

Boring filler first half, decent second half.
First half was boring with unnecessary time spent on Aleesh and the military dude. Whatever cute story they were going for felt forced and unfunny.
Second half was pretty good though. I especially liked that they humanized the girlfriend and it was revealed that she was just a product of her environment and a victim of abuse, and the niece and her was super sweet, especially with the hair fake-out. The reveal felt super natural and not forced.
The primary protagonists are very sweet together and I am glad they didn't have a forced sex scene here though it would be super easy to have one there. The underlying mystery is still very compelling and it feels like a storm brewing, especially with certain revelations and plot developments in the last two episodes changing our view of the mystery. Excited to see what comes next.

More filler, Aleesha sucks. Nice ending.
First half dragged just like the last episode's second half did. Aleesha and the military guy are super boring and Aleesha just kinda sucks as a character.
Second half was pretty good though, and I loved how they humanized his girlfriend and showed she is just a product of abuse and a victim of her environment. His niece and her were sweet. The two protagonists are definitely sweet together and I love that they didn't force a sex scene. The underlying mystery is pretty compelling too, now with further complications due to the plot actually advancing this episode.

The plot thickens...slowly
Love the investigator lady, super funny and best character yet. I get that his girlfriend is supposed to be unlikeable but jesus christ...this is Umbridge levels of repulsive. The funeral was sad, i'm liking the angel more every episode she has less cringey lines of dialogue, hopefully the trend continues. Robbie Amell is pretty sympathetic, and the conspiracy is pretty intriguing. Good episode.

Better writing than pilot
The characters are pretty sweet here and the more annoying ones are showing up less. The writing is still super bad though, real people do not talk like this. Still I loved the Uber critique, super smart and not forced, even if at points the characters still behave super unrealistically. Consider me intrigued.

Damn, this is bad writing.
Nice idea and would have loved to see it executed well. Instead of that we get the worst written and most unlikeable, irredeemable, uninteresting protagonists possible and under the flashy production there lurks a weak, weak script with no heart.
Solar Opposites: Terry and Korvo Steal a Bear (2020)
That was AMAZING
Absolute masterpiece of an episode. On the level of the Riclantis Mixup, if not better. Amazing payoff to all the buildup. If this show only existed for this one episode it would be worth it. Will rewatch many time! Well done Roiland and co.
Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet: The Convention (2020)
As bland as it gets
I rarely take time out to leave a negative review but this episode of television squanders and wastes a talented cast so badly with its terrible writing it left me no choice. Absolutely terrible episode simply because of how mediocre, lacklustre, and woefully predictable it is. Danny Pudi and Rob McElhenney are bright spots in this episode with charming, funny, and believable performances and none of the rest of the cast are bad. That is as far as compliments go for this episode. Without going into specifics, I am all for diversity and tackling social issues in television. However this episode does it so ham-fistedly and without subtlety it actually enraged me.
Some of the characters are yet to start shining and they better start soon because my patience is wearing thin. We are very few episodes in and it is already so formulaic it is laughable. Episode starts with something threatening the game profiting (that the audience rarely cares about) and episodes end with the team solving the problem. This is so simplistic and boring I cannot explain it in words.
For the sake of the talented cast and the great premise of the show, I wish the writers get it together for future episodes because I would love to love this show. Please, have some more subtelty!
The Midnight Gospel: Mouse of Silver (2020)
Most beautiful episode so far
There have been several beautiful episodes already (the prison one, the slaughterhouse one) but this one takes the cake.
