Dunkirk (2017)
Boring and Pointless
Nolan phoned it in. Not worth watching. Are you in a deep depression and wasting time is your only mode, this is your flick. It will match your depressed and confused mental state.
Professor Marston and the Wonder Women (2017)
It's Fake, not true at all
After watching a trailer I had my doubts about the authenticity of how true this story was. I searched the internet for reviews/articles and found many that cast doubt about how true this "True" story was. After reading a Hollywood Reporter article it became undoubtedly clear this is complete fiction.
Because this fictional story casts dispersion on the origin of Wonder Woman, and the authors family refutes all aspects of this movie, it deserve no better than a zero but one star is as low as this rating can go.
Rotten (2018)
Not that good, Waste of time
I was hoping for an expose but instead it's a rather bland, non impacting TV show.
What I learned from episode 1: China and other Pac. Asia nations try to dilute Honey with corn and rice syrup but, those who oversee this fraud are on top of it.
My reaction: Like anything fraud occurs but oversight seems to be working.
What I do with this information: Nothing.
What I learned from episode 2: Nothing
My reaction: People with food allergies should not trust establishments when they say the food is safe for a certain allergen.
What I do with this information: Nothing. I don't have food allergies and I don't really care about the diet challenges of those who do.
This is when I stopped watching. The first two episodes were boring and didn't do anything to educate me on things I didn't suspect or already know. Moreover, upon reflection I can honestly say I didn't care about any thing there were presenting. Documentary "Fat Head", interesting and educational. "The Sugar Movie", interesting and educational. "Rotten", boring and nothing to learn if, at the very least, a slight portion of your brain pays attention to current events and nutritional news.
Okja (2017)
Lame, both Movie and Netflix
First, the movie. The good, the soundtrack itself and how it matched scenes. As for the rest of the movie, there was no point. It was simply meant to entertain. I say this because you can't make me sad that animals must die so I can live. The fact the animals are GMO does not affect the necessity of their death. People have to eat, period. **Overall - Movie was bland at best. **Lifetime views will be...1
Secondly, Netflix. Their movie division has proved once again that no amount of money can compensate for a weak story. Their recent movie "War Machine" proved the same concept except that time out it was no amount of star power can save a weak movie. Netflix may be okay at delivering online content but they continue to remind us that they can't get good scripts. It's apparent that whoever is charge of obtaining rights for their weak online content and weak movie scripts is the same person and that person should be replaced.
The Book of Eli (2010)
Action, Denzel, Oldman, Shocking Revelation...Great Movie
I've watched this movie many times since its release and it still impresses. The first time I watched it I was simply along for the ride. Every viewing after the first, knowing whats going on, I'm able to see more and enjoy the story that much more.
In the reviews you may see people referencing religion. There is no religion in this movie. Religion is a man made construct. What you will encounter is the human experience. Despair, hopelessness, tyranny, evil and the human struggle to be better and serve a purpose beyond our simple existence.
The movie revolves around God, as presented in the Bible. If you believe in the Bible and God then this fictional story is not crazy, outrageous or outlandish. The idea that a man can be chosen by God to complete a seemingly impossible task is not only possible, it's historically accurate.
Trolls (2016)
Songs an adult can enjoy...finally
This movie is the definition of today's POP culture including the songs, colors, animation and plot. It's a simple plot and it sticks the landing. Like good kids animation does, both motion or book form, it does not attempt to be realistic. It's a cute story that is fast paced and as an adult, it mixes new and old songs that were perfect for the movie and very good remixes, to the point I could actually listen to these songs in the car with my children verses "Let it Snow" or "Do you want to build a snowman" which make me want to jam ice-picks in my ears.
I'm not a fan of the most recent Disney movies (i.e. Frozen) plots or songs. This movie does not try to cram complex concepts like the death of parents or falling in love in 5 minutes which leaves gaping plot holes, from an adult perspective. It's not trying to be grandiose. It's a kid movie told on kid level with enough nostalgia to rope parents in who are in their 30's and 40's. Think old school cartoons Smurfs and Gummy Bears crammed into one told with modern animation and songs.
