The Decoy Bride (2011)
Underrated
This movie is a movie that I can watch again and again and not get tired. It's actually comforting. The story isn't intense and it's kind of like drinking hot tea on a blustery day. It's funny and charming.
It's got no fancy bells and whistles like great acts of love and stuff. There's just something different about this film that makes it so lovable for me. It's not overly lewd (some mentions of sex), but it's more focused on Katie and James's budding relationship.
How can one not dream of meeting someone when you least expect it?
It's got a lovely cast and scenery, and a storyline that sweet and funny.
Re Shang Leng Dian Xia (2018)
Main Girl Is too Unlikable
Qingquing is too unlikable. The premise was okay and I could watch through the first couple of episodes, as the premise was a cute one, but then Qingqing starts doing some pretty terrible things that just made me dislike her so much. I stopped watching. If I can't root for the character, or understand their motives enough, then it's feasible. But if you give me a character who makes a ton of rash, irresponsible decisions, top that off with a bad attitude, and lack of good character, what do you have? Qingqing.
I don't even want to watch on to see if she redeems herself. I get making an MC naive and rash, but this is too much, and just didn't work.
The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part (2019)
Catchy Songs and Revival of Old Jokes with Addition of New Ones
The Lego Movie 2 is a family-friendly good time. The songs are pretty catchy (I especially liked the ending credits song where they're being clever).
The plot felt a bit weak, but really it could be seen as a "plot" device to cram in a lot of jokes and humor. If you're an adult, you'll probably get the reference jokes. If you're a kid, there are a lot of bright colors.
Over all, it's a good movie if you like witty jokes.
Sydney White (2007)
Not blatantly Snow White, but kind of charming in an odd way
The movie was sort of like a cheesy comedy of Snow White (and Cinderella). It's not really a kid's movie, but maybe teen-centered? University student centered?
Over all, the movie grew on me later. I found myself thinking about it after it was over and pieces started to click. I actually didn't catch onto the resemblance with the 7 college guys. But I'll say that her reflection of Snow White's poisoned sleep was too forced and the kiss felt off. Perhaps because the "Prince" wasn't really that likable a character to me. The sneezy kid would probably be a better companion as the Prince felt stiff and unlikable. Perhaps make him more charming and less of a jerk who feels entitled and the story would feel better.
