Ghost Adventures (2008)
ZAK!!! STOP YELLING!!! AT YOUR CLIENTS!! - either alive or dead
Geez. I can handle big dramas and lots of shouting but MY GOD when Zak yells at the people he works with, works FOR and those unseen and unalive, he needs to get BETTER MANNERS. VERY RUDE. That is all.
(One particular episode at Goldfield Mine in NV where he yelled at the widow, I was like X$%#@! You, Zak. He YELLED AT A WIDOW.) Yeah, he always feels "violent and out of control" I think he need to take a break from this stuff and see the beauty in the world.
Lead Me Home (2021)
Short documentary on a difficult subject done in a compassionate way
I wasn't sure if I wanted to see this at all. Live in a city where I see it everyday and it has gotten WORSE since the Reagan era, the 1980s, because of no supportive housing, stagnant wages, and lack of mental health facilities. Income inequality makes people cold and heartless. HERE'S A TYPICAL STORY A family member who worked full time since she was 15 for decades. She was an excellent worker, held responsible positions but became disabled due to neurological problems that impact her speech, memory and she has seizures. Now, she only makes $1400 per month on disability and even WITH "low income" housing - if she COULD afford it - she would barely make the rent. Her one companion is her dog and most places don't allow pets. What a life! Of course, now it is up to family members to help her out but we are struggling too. Bezos, Musk could end this misery and NOT even miss the money instead of polluting space with their carbon dioxide rocket ships.
His House (2020)
Our nightmares have meaning
I was scared at certain points! A movie that works on multiple levels: a cultural film, a war film, a horror film - in reality and in an other worldly sense and ultimately what it means to be at home in the world.
I usually am turned off by "horror" films since I am not a fan of violent, bloody movies - they have a bad effect on the psyche - but I watched this because it had a domestic yet strange feel and I was interested in learning about other cultures.
Excellent film - it has a randomness and out of control feeling but it also provides a sense of ethics, justice and that gives order to the chaos.
Black·ish: Andre Johnson: Good Person (2019)
Bad feeling
I love this show but that line about how they liked swerving too close to cyclists was was shudderingly cruel. My husband and friends cycle and I used to ride with him too but the cars with illwill and power were terrifying. In addition, we know cyclists who were killed by cars. The writers need to get on a bike and see how it feels.
