It's an interesting concept, and the invisibility of the titular character is nearly irrelevant to the plot.
What makes it is the rapid succession of inexplicable things that happen that are brushed off or ignored by the main characters. The ideas deserve a better film, and certainly a better script, but I'm glad it is the way it is - certainly the funniest film I've seen this year.
The fact there is a robot from the future that they leave disassembled in a corner, but don't bat an eyelid when the boy resurrects it is a good moment, but nothing compared to the parents putting their son's invisibility down to him just looking for attention.
