Encanto (2021)
Great message, entertaining, family orientated, beautiful culture
I loved it and enjoyed it way more than the other kids films we take our 6 year old to. We laughed so hard especially at the donkeys falling from the sky during Luisa's solo and anytime Dolores had lines. I cried a bit at the end because Mirabel was so relatable. I also liked how there wasn't a big hero's journey that took her far away like every other movie and everything took place in her town. Loved seeing all the diverse characters and hearing Spanish. BEAUTIFUL culture and bright colors throughout the movie.
PAW Patrol: The Movie (2021)
Cute kid movie with only TWO FEMALE LEADS
5 male dogs and only ONE female dog in the group!? Good thing they meet another female dog. A little too late. RIDICULOUS. Also, both girls are are outfitted in pink gear. Girls like green, orange, red, and blue too! Seriously?! Catch up to the times.
It was really nice to see a black animated character as a scientist. I've literally never watched a movie with this kind of character (besides Black Panther) being a POC.
Sarangeui bulsachak (2019)
Romantic, well written plot, and funny. - North Korean and South Korean fall in love
One of the most well written and acted Korean dramas I have ever seen! The main couple have SO much chemistry and are such a good match despite their differences. There are multiple story lines and characters but they fit so well together. My favorite characters (besides the main couple) are the soldiers helping Captain Ri and the group of women from the military camp. So funny!
The plot includes what life might be like in North Korea and it's fascinating! Power outages, hopping salespeople for when the train breaks down, strict dress/hair code, etc. They come from different worlds and it's interesting to see them each discover the other's world. Absolutely brilliant!
A Man for Every Month (2017)
refreshingly different
I LOVED how quirky and awkward Megan was throughout the story. It was refreshing to not have her all put together or pretend to be awkward like some hallmark movies try to portray. She was actually super awkard and I loved it. The guy playing Scott did an amazing job acting with his subtle looks of intrigue. They had good chemistry together but wish they had more dialogue. I also loved her roommate's story line and how she and Megan learned to be themselves and find love. Enjoyed it!
