Death on the Nile (2022)
A different Poirot but terrible production
I quite like Brannagh as Poirot, he gives a different perspective of the character, but what spoiled this for me was the production of the movie; those backdrops of the pyramids were so poor I thought I was back in the 70's!
Nice to see some familiar faces in this film though which was a nice touch.
Snowpiercer (2020)
The world's longest TARDIS?
Whilst I'm enjoying the series, I can't get to grips with the set, it seems to be endlessly wide when it's supposed to be a train, super sized train or not it just seems like this could have been set in a city, the train (in my view) has become secondary to the storyline & it's more about civil war.
Coming 2 America (2021)
Another disappointing sequel! (Did you expect anything else!)
Since this movie was announced a couple of years ago I slightly winced at the prospect of a sequel, unfortunately in my opinion this rings true for this film, I just knew from the start it had a weak plot & a rehash of the original storyline, sure it had a couple of snigger moments, but nothing more!
The Simpsons: The Sweetest Apu (2002)
The Simpsons...the soap opera.
Since when did The Simpsons turn into a soap opera?
After years of watching one of my favourite animated series, I watched this 2002 episode recently and came to the conclusion that the show itself should have ended in the same year.
The plot for this episode centres around The Simpson family trying to help Apu & his wife get back together after they have separated.
The fact that there isn't one gag in the whole episode really shows that most of the original writers had moved on by time this episode was written, I mean Apu being served with divorce papers by his wife, where's the comedic value in that!?
As mentioned this episode was made in 2002 & I've rarely seen an episode made after this that even remotely resembles episodes of The Simpsons of old, I therefore have been resided to the fact that the show is a shadow of its former self & if I want to watch an episode to make me laugh, I'll just reminisce and watch the original episodes that actually did.
Secret Obsession (2019)
A poor modern day Misery
When I heard statements like 'Women are too afraid to go asleep' & 'Truly terrifying' about this movie I thought I was onto a winner with this Netflix production..how wrong I was.
About 10 minutes in it was obvious that the 'husband' was the abuctor & as the movie wound on it appeared to me that this is just a poor modern take on Stephen King's Misery, all I was waiting for now was how they were going to do that 'hobbling scene' but it never came.
So if you want to be kept in suspense, cringe at someone's feet being broken & watch a classic of a movie.. watch Misery, it's far better!
