Battle of Britain (1969)
Can watching time and time again
Films like this do not seem to be made anymore. An all star cast combined with stiff upper lip and plenty of tomato sauce make this a film I can watch again.
The Siege of Pinchgut (1959)
Rating depends on perspective
If this was filmed in the us I would give it only 6, but as an Australian it give a fascinating insight into Sydney in the 50s. The story line is not the greatest and would pass if not filmed here.
What We Did on Our Holiday (2014)
Poignant and delightful
It was billy me and rosamund that bought us here, but it was a refreshing, sad and laugh out loud film with glorious scenery. The fact the music is the waterboys was cream on the cake.
Blinded by the Light (2019)
Not only for Springsteen fans
Great lyrics, storyline, blending uk and USA cultures makes for a rewarding enjoyable film. Reminds me of a similar storylines to bend it like beckham.
Ted Lasso (2020)
Made for pandemic
I am no film critic but Ted help lockdown be vaguely bearable. Thanks Ted and gang. Ted has spirit and the characters are uplifting.
Fisk (2021)
Great Entertainment
Perfectly cast, with a tight script that makes for a great show. Looking forward to another series.
Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
Epic and immersive
I love every David lean film but this the greatest. It's like opening a great red wine, savouring the nose, the palate... take your time, break it into two nights.. no ads of course.
When you have finished watching Lawrence, stand up, check the couch.. there will be sand there.
Formula 1: Drive to Survive (2019)
The game meets the show
As an f1 fan I was sadly expecting too much. The narration seemed post added to events and somewhat game like. Altogether rather average direction .
The Straits (2012)
A special mood
The straights catches the mood of fnq beautifully and captures the frontier mood. Worth a look
