Cruella (2021)

Performances worthy of Academy Award Nominations
8 September 2021
If Emma Thompson doesn't get Nominated for an Academy Award for her role as the Baroness in Cruella, then there is no justice in Hollywood. I've watched this movie three times as it is just so entertaining and amazingly brilliant. And each time Emma Thompson just keeps getting better.

Emma Thompson steels the show with a performance that seems to combine two of the greatest Ruthless Women Characters ever to grace the silver screen, into on one brilliant performance the likes of which may never be matched again. I'm talking about Gloria Swanson's role in Sunset Boulevard and Meryl Steep's performance in The Devil Wears Prada. Now you can add, Emma Thompson as the Baroness.

The on-screen chemistry by the cast brings a whole new level for Disney movies, and the two Emma's are a tour de force. Even the closing credits of this Ruckus Affair are a work of art.

The writing and script are more than on point, and its abundantly clear a lot of time and thought has gone into to every word and scene. Great Direction and a killer supporting cast are the cherry on top. I'll be watching this movie for years to come.

Best dialog and interaction in a very long while.
4 July 2021
Seems you either love this movie like I did, or can't stand it. The script was brilliant, the pacing and interaction between the actors was as smooth as silk, the dialog just flowed naturally, and the music perfectly timed to set a hip vibe. This is a thinking person's movie with constant plot twists playing on multiple levels and has some sweet little surprises throwen in to keep you in the story right to end. There are a lot of complaints about the fish eye lens being used, and as near as I can figure they used an old lens for effect to pull you back in time.

What happens when 2 equal opposing forces meet?

Warning: Spoilers
Wow, so many bad reviews for a dark comedy with a message about corruption and how the 10X crowd actually see themselves. I personally liked the movie and the head to head combat of the two main characters. Rosamund Pike plays the role of Marla Greyson so well you hope she gets her's in the end in the first scene. After just 10 minutes with her you realize she's a force to be recond with through the use of intelligence, cunning, and beauty, her weapons of choice. And when she meets with a fource that any sane person would cave on, she just keeps upping the stakes. My advice, sit back and let the drama unfold as Malra Greyson is like a Black Cat with nine lives

Oddly Entertaining

Yes its another B horror flick and somewhat predictable, but I was drawn in by the camera work, effective use of sound and the unique choice of leading man. The supporting cast works well together, are entertaining, plus there are a few surprises as we move through the plot and home reno. My only question with so many of these haunted house movies is why don't these people ever get a home inspection before they buy?

An irreplaceable time capsule

I could watch it 5 times over just to ensure I captured it all. Love the ladies wardrobe and hair styles, simply a work of stunning motion picture visual art. The restaurant screen is a masterpiece. I was fortunate to watch the remastered 2013 version available on kanopy streaming service.
