I'm at a loss for words at how stupid this film is.
26 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The last ten minutes of this movie has got to be hokiest, wokiest, most pro-feminist, anti-male piece of nonsense ever committed to film. Not to mention the misogynistic tone throughout the movie. The female protagonist does EVERYTHING! She knows intimately the avionics of a B-17, she's an expert marksman with .50 machine gun, she seems to be a ninja master, she kills a mythical beast-- that can rip a metal plane apart--with her bare hands, then nurse a baby. All while the men stand helplessly in awe of her super human feats. I don't often recommend staying away from a film, but don't waste your time on this piece of crap.

Very charming film!
7 May 2024
In an era when movies are filled with profanity, nudity, violence, sex, and every other kind of filth, this movie rises above that. It's a wholesome and funny take on the Pop Tart/Country Squares controversy in the 1960s. Using stand-up comics for most of the roles was also a nice twist. Except for the use of a few cuss words--most notably GD--this is almost a near perfect film. There's much to like here, with Mad Men cameos and Peter Dinklage. I even liked Amy Schumer in this--and I don't like Amy Schumer at all. Jerry Seinfeld dug deep and made a very good film for the whole family. Well worth your time.

This documentary is a joke!
6 May 2024
This documentary seeks to impugn the federal justice department from a convoluted case 40 years ago. When I look at the egregious violations of our Justice Department today against regular Americans, I can't help but laugh at this attempt to make the Reagan Administration seem corrupt. I couldn't even make it through 20 minutes of the first episode when I starting laughing out loud. Today's Justice Department is so much more corrupt. Don't waste your time with this stupid documentary. They should make a documentary about the current Justice Department and how thoroughly evil they are. This documentary is a complete farce.

Don't believe the bad reviews
15 April 2024
Once again, I must counter all the 1/10 and 2/10 with a rational, cogent review. This is a pretty decent movie. The special effects were pretty good, especially the underwater scenes of the plane sliding down. The shark scenes were also decent. The acting was above average and they portrayed suspense and fear very well. All in all, well worth the time and genuinely entertaining.

I get so tired of Siskel & Ebert wannabes who try to have all kinds of erudite opinions and insights so they sound so smart. Just take the movie at face value. It's simple and entertaining--no Academy Award winner, but pretty good.

A disjointed mess
16 March 2024
Leave The World Behind is an awful, chaotic mess. It sort of figures since Julia Roberts is in it. She rarely takes a movie where she can't make a political statement of some sort. And this movie doesn't disappoint. Let's see, in this film we have: 1. White people are evil.

2. We're ruining the planet.

3. All people suck and are big, fat meanies.

And don't get me started on the ending. Nothing is explained and we never know who or why they're getting attacked. And wow, does Julia Roberts acting suck! Honestly, Ethan Hawke has lost his mojo too. It's just one big pile of steaming hot garbage.

Great spin on the Frankenstein story
20 January 2024
This is very good story. Not perfect, but very good. The acting is much better than I thought it would be, maybe a little overdone, but decent enough, especially the first few episodes. It's the last three episodes where the story really starts to take off. Especially noteworthy is the actor who plays the Creature. The series does a phenomenal job of capturing the Creature's confusion and anger at how people treat him and those he cares about. Something we all can identify with at some point.

As long as you can get past the clunky acting and behavior of the young medical student at the beginning, the rest of the story is really good.

Not a bad movie, but not good either
18 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This is a weird movie. It's very disjointed and leaves a lot of questions: 1. Who killed Ben and why?

2. Who threw the pig in the pool and why?

3. Who threw paint on the window and why?

4. Who killed the blond at the beginning and why?

5. Why did the sheriff want to kill Ray?

6. What was the deal with those weirdo teenagers at the garage?

At the end of the film, I was left with so many loose ends and couldn't figure out why anyone did anything. Nicolas Cage and Robin Tunney keep this film afloat, but it's a struggle. It's worth a watch, but don't expect too much, just try to overlook the problems.

Don't listen to the bad reviews
14 January 2024
I feel I need to write this for two reasons. First, to offset all the 1/10 reviews saying this was the "worst movie ever made!" If you think that, you haven't watched enough movies. These pretentious little Siskel-Ebert wannabes don't know jack about film. Also, they treat these kinds of movies like documentaries. "This movie sucked because a metal container wouldn't float." Or "Spain would never fall like this, maybe some other countries, but not Spain due to it's geopolitical standing in Europe." SHUT UP! Just suspend disbelief for the next 90 minutes and enjoy.

Second, this is a solid movie. The lead actress carries this film brilliantly and it's suspenseful when it needs to be.

Steve Zahn carries this movie
7 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I've seen a lot of Steve Zahn movies, and this is probably his best yet. I think mostly because he's not overactive, he's just being himself. The plot is pretty standard stuff--estranged father reunites with troubled child. I do wish they would have played up Margie's bulimia a little better.

This is further proof that Hollywood can produce quality films with no violence and implied sex. On a side note, the f- bomb is becoming more prevalent, even in a family movie like this. It's only used two or three times for comic relief, but it just wasn't necessary. Still, it's a great film well worth a look.

I don't normally do this, but...this movie is pretty bad.
3 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I try to look for the good in every film, but there's not much to use in this movie. First of all, why is the main character Lauren so morose, so pensive? The movie never explains this. What's the issue with her father? Never explained. Why did the aliens choose her? Never explained. And another thing--it's disjointed and so sloooooow! Nothing ever really happens. And another thing...whoever was in charge of sound production for this film should be shot. It's so hard to hear anything against the background music. It's simply not very entertaining. I see what they were going for but it just falls flat.

Don't pass on this one, excellent film.
14 November 2023
This is clearly one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. The casting choice was inspirational. I believe this is Christian Bale's best movie yet. The choices of Jesse Plemons, Ryan Bingham, and even Paul Anderson-at the height of his Peaky Blinders fame-is brilliant. Wes Studi and Adam Beach steal this movie. Even Rosamund Pike did a good job, and I think she is one of the worst actresses ever. And Ben Foster in such a limited supporting role did a great job. The plot developed a lot better than I anticipated. This film is well worth your time and has a great message as well. BTW, I never give 10/10, but this one deserves it.

As usual, don't listen to the bad reviews
8 November 2023
This movie is well worth your time. There's always people out there who believe they're the next Siskel and Ebert who believe they have some great insight on cinematography or lighting or plot development. Don't listen to them. This is a fine movie, well done with plenty of action. Does the terrain look like the Colorado Rockies? Sure. Does the Taliban look like an office fantasy football league dressed in blankets? You betcha. But suspend disbelief for two hours and enjoy a low budget indie war movie. Remember, its not a documentary and never claims to be. Just enhance your calm and enjoy this film.

More of the same...
13 August 2023
It's not bad, it's just the same thing over and over. What made the original Walking Dead good is it was different. This is just the same thing with the same characters. There's nothing fresh or new here, except the locale. I really wanted to like it, but it was just ho hum. I must say, I do like Negan. He's a great character. Maggie is, well, she's easy on the eyes. One question: why aren't walkers getting caught in all those fancy traps? And why do they keep saying there's no way off Manhattan? Freaking swim, why don't ya?!? Like I said, it's not bad, but I think TWD is played out. That's about it.

Don't believe the bad reviews!
21 July 2023
Don't listen to the low ratings people on this one. People who perpetually give bad reviews tend to use flowery language to make themselves sound credible. I've made it my goal to call these posers out.

That being said, this is a solid monster flick. The acting is decent, the special effects are surprisingly good, and the plot is fresh and innovative. All in all, I can't find a lot wrong with this movie. Is it Citizen Kane? Of course not! But if you're looking for a good little monster movie to watch while eating pizza and drinking beer, you could do a lot worse. I did think it was humorous that the women were constantly in bikini tops. Oh well...

Very engaging, but...
31 March 2023
I like this program, it's engaging and oftentimes suspenseful, but my biggest issue is some of the acting. In particular, the chemistry between Brandon Sklenar (Spencer Dutton) and Julia Schaeffer (Alexandria)--there isn't any! He's a terrible actor and she tries to compensate by over-acting. When I watch her mannerisms, she reminds me of a young Katharine Hepburn but without the charm. It's almost painful watching them interact together. I keep hoping Alex will be killed or get a disease or something to get rid of her character. Ugh! Poor Harrison Ford--he is so past his prime, it hurts. Helen Mirren is the real bright light in this show.

Just one stupid decision after another.
31 December 2022
I just don't think rational people would make the same series of ridiculous, asinine, foolish, idiotic decisions these clowns made in dealing with the lion. It boggles the mind, it's almost like they wanted to die. I really wanted to like this movie, but the amount of incompetence just prevented me from suspending disbelief. I don't normally say stuff like this, but after about 30 minutes I was cheering for the lion. This movie really isn't worth your time. I'm surprised Idris Elba would sign onto such a cornball flick like this. I thought he had higher standards than this. CGI was pretty good.

This movie will be a Christmas classic one day!
4 December 2022
From the first time I watched this movie, I knew it was destined to become a Christmas classic. Maybe it was Kurt Russell or Kurt Russell's spin on Santa, but this movie is near perfect. It has everything a great Christmas movie should: reconciliation, faith, etc. Christmas Chronicles 2 didn't have near the magic that the original had. Another cool thing was introducing Goldie Hawn as Mrs. Claus opposite Kurt Russell, her real-life partner. This film has almost zero flaws. The casting is excellent, the plot is great, and the writing was superb.

Take time and enjoy this cinematic beauty--you won't be disappointed.

Forget the bad reviews--this is a must watch.
2 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Don't listen to the bad reviews, they all think they're Siskel & Ebert, but without the brains. This is a phenomenal film. It's a heartwarming story of forgiveness and love. The characters are believable and the acting is spot on. Jake McLaughlin does a particularly good job as Marvin. If I have any problem at all with this movie, it's that there are quite a few unanswered questions: why did Marvin murder the old woman? What is the history between Wade and Marvin? Why doesn't Marvin's mother hate Wade? Why did Marvin's brother commit suicide? Just a lot of unresolved things that seemed important but were never addressed. Other than that, this is a great movie.

This is a Solid Movie!
5 November 2022
First of all, let's get something straight: all the 1 and 2 reviewers think they're so erudite and astute and insightful. Don't listen to them. They're a bunch of gas bags and wannabe Sister & Eberts. I promise to give an honest and plain assessment. I don't care if you don't like, respect, hate, love this review--but it will be honest and objective.

The zombie sub-genre gets a lot of bad press lately. However, this movie takes a very interesting twist like no other before. Very intriguing twist at the end. Good blend of humor and suspense and fright. There is an after credits scene that's important too.

That's it. Don't listen to the naysayers--give it a watch, you won't be disappointed.

Another overrated Jordan Peele attempt
15 August 2022
This movie was a big, fat meh. Daniel Kaluuya seemed like he was on some sort of sedative the entire movie. Keke Palmer tries to hard to be relevant and there was no plot! The subplot involving Gordo the chimp was kind of creepy.

Warning: Spoilers
This movie has an interesting premise, but it loses control of it some point. It's worth a watch, I suppose, but just barely. On a side note--Sam Worthington is so wooden. How is he a professional actor?

Spoiler Alert: They spend billions of dollars to send ONE man to a planet so he can fly around? WTF?!?

Good, light hearted rom com.
27 March 2022
Thirty minutes into this film, I realized I was watching a remake of Romancing The Stone. It works though. Channing Tatum continues to surprise me with his range of acting abilities. Poor Sandra Bullock...she can't seem to get away from characters that are confused and aloof. I'm not sure she has ever had any on-screen chemistry with her leading men. Still a good movie.
