Worst Nutcracker Movie Adaptation ever
18 June 2020
I unfortunately saw this travesty of a film a few years ago on cable! The movie itself isn't just bad it is the worst adaptation of The Nutcracker story! I get this was made for kids, but it's pretty bad

The animation looks like something straight out of the kid's show Veggietales and it's pretty bad, it doesn't help that many of the characters on here are unlikable, also what do talking nuts have to do with the Nutcracker story?

So in conclusion skip the Nuttiest Nutcracker, it's not worth anyone's time, the storyline is all over the place, the characters are forgettable, the animation is terrible big disappointment

Barney & Friends (1992–2010)

Gonna give Barney a little slack since he was a part of my infancy and childhood
10 June 2020
I was born a year after Barney & Friends premiered and watched this from toddlerhood to at least kindergarten, so yeah! I pretty much grew up with this show! When I was younger I adored Barney and I used to sing the I Love You song! Eventually I grew too old for the purple dinosaur and sought more entertainment from other kid shows,

It's not exactly a great show, but it's ok, it introduced me to shows with puppets so it's all good!

The Bugaloos (2017 TV Movie)

Very heartfelt tribute to the original series, I wish this had been picked up
5 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I was one of those people who saw the teaser trailer for this pilot at the 2017 Krofft Panel at San Diego's Comic Con because of a live stream from Sid & Marty Krofft's Facebook page. When I first saw this pilot teaser I screamed and cried. I was very attached to the original Bugaloos because this was my late father's favorite show growing up so of course I was going to have resentment of the Krofft Brothers for creating a reboot. However nearly two years after this pilot teaser premiered and the fact this has since been scrapped I just want to say this wasn't that bad. I've never seen the actual pilot since it's remained unaired after Nickelodeon didn't pick it up, but this review is based of that short teaser trailer from Comic Con

Visually the scenery was stunning, it has breathtaking views of giant trees, mushrooms and flowers which made it feel like you were really in Tranquility Forest. The kids playing the Bugaloos are American children this time and they were cute, and looked to be around ten to thirteen year old kids. Courage is now a girl, and there are two boys and two girls this time instead of three boys and one girl. Sparky's design looked more like a hand puppet this time around, but I thought he looked adorable anyways and gave it a pass, Joy now plays the keyboard and IQ and Harmony play guitar and bass. Benita Bizarre now lives in a video jukebox and Woofer and Tweeter were given cool new upgrades, they now look like robots instead of stereo equipment. Lise Simms played Benita Bizarre in the pilot and there were two brief clips of her in the teaser trailer one tossing her boa and the other with her shrieking The Bugaloos. I really felt they paid tribute to the late Martha Raye in a good way.

I'm taking one star out due to Funky Rat's design, he looked terrible and nothing like the original Funky Rat. But other than that negative all I can add is that I really wish this pilot was picked up, I totally understand how people felt when they showed this teaser because I was like them, It's not terrible, it's just different and they actually did a good job trying to pay tribute to the original show. Lise Simms were just wonderful, the children playing The Bugaloos were cute and the song they were singing was well, different. I will always be more of a fan toward the original show, nothing will replace that but I felt they at least tried to pay tribute to the original Bugaloos.

In closure I wanted to say they did a great job, the visual were breathtaking, the kids cute and Sparky was just adorable. Lise Simms was just fantastic as rock n roll witch Benita Bizarre. Had this pilot been picked up I would have seen this as a good now version of The Bugaloos.

Mutt & Stuff (2015–2017)

Interesting show for preschoolers, If you like dogs
17 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
For the record while I do love both dogs and puppets this show felt very bland to me, I know it's for preschoolers but still. Also the talking trees at Mutt & Stuff looked creepy. Not sure if it was intentional but whatever. Surprisingly this show has lasted for 73 episodes and two seasons and it released it's last episode on November 1.

Mutt & Stuff is about a dog school with Calvin Miller playing himself who teaches at this dog school. The show is harmless and it does teach some education in being appreciated of animals. Most of the episodes have the dogs solving problems and helping others out. Season two introduced Annie the animal rescuer who is played by Rachel Eggleston and becomes a recurring character in later episodes.

There is also Stuff a huge stuffed dog who coincidentally happens to be H.R. Pufnstuf's nephew. Don't ask me how, I'm confused as everyone else.

Over all it's not a bad show, it has some charm like the cats who act like Startler and Waldorf from the Muppet show and there is a talking fire hydrant named Melvin. H.R. Pufnstuf makes a couple of guest appearances with Freddy Flute and Cling and Clang but it's a cute show. They tried too hard.

5/10 decent not good or bad either

Cute modern reboot of the original Sigmund and the Sea Monsters
11 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Surprisingly this new Sigmund and the Sea Monsters impressed me very much, Very rarely do reboots impress me, and I will admit I was nervous when Sid and Marty announced about a remake of Sigmund and the Sea Monsters. The new show actually stayed somewhat faithful to the original show yet modern for younger viewers and surprisingly I really enjoyed it.

If you've never saw the original Sigmund it's about two boys named Johnny and Scott who find a sea monster called Sigmund. The series had the boys hide Sigmund from his cruel family and prevent their housekeeper Zelda from discovering Siggy. Also in season two Sigmund introduced two new characters a genie called Sheldon and his nephew name Shelly makes later appearances in season 2.

The original Sigmund and the Sea Monsters became a huge hit like Pufnstuf and it lasted for two seasons.

The remake made changes into the show, first off by having the boys spend the summer at their aunt Maxine and cousin Robyn's house when they discover Sigmund. There is also the difference with Sigmund's family as they aren't as mean as in the original series and Sigmund's mother Sweet Mama is a single mother, Also in the remake there is a villain Captain Barnabas who is crazy and believes sea monsters are real.

The kids playing Johnny Scotty and Robyn are cute and sweet, Captain Barnabas played by David Arquette is a fantastic villain. The costume designs made the sea monsters look realistic in the updated version and it's less cheesy. The only problem I had in the pilot which fortunately they fixed was Sigmund's voice, it sounded whiny.

I loved having Johnny Whittaker guest star in the reboot as Zach, for the pilot he makes minor appearances but in the other 6 episodes he pretty much is a recurring character. I thought it was great idea to incorporate the original Johnny from Sigmund into the new series, I also liked having both Sid and Marty Krofft guest star and make cameos in the new show. I hope there will be a season 2 with Scott Kolden guest staring as Scott Kolden didn't guest star, or I didn't see him in the first season.

There are seven episodes of Sigmund and I'm hoping for more, the last episode ended with a cliffhanger which I won't spoil but it is a twist.

The show is highly recommended for nostalgia adults and kids. I'm looking forward for The Bugaloos reboot, yes the Kroffts are going to reboot other television shows of their era. Here's hoping for more adventures with Sigmund

Heartwarming tale of a donkey who helps create the first Christmas
8 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Nestor the Long Eared Christmas Donkey is a sweet, yet sad Christmas Special.

The story starts with our narrator Santa's donkey who explains his ancestor Nestor, Nestor was a donkey born with very long ears. The other animals on the farm where he lived were mean and made fun of him. Olaf the donkey owner was also cruel and called him insulting names. The only person who was kind to Nestor was his mother. One night Roman soldiers come to the farm and want some young donkeys. Olaf shows them all the young donkeys and they take them. they take Nestor but he puts up a struggle causing his long ears to be shown. The angry soldiers take the young donkeys for free and leave Olaf furious that he lost a sale. Olaf tosses Nestor out into a blizzard and his mother has enough and breaks out of her pen to rescue her son. Homeless and alone Nestor and his mother find a drift bank and his mother digs a hole so she can cover Nestor up with herself to keep him warm. Tragically Nestor's mother dies in the blizzard sacrificing her own self for her young son. Nestor wanders the world alone until he meets a cherub called Tilly who tells Nestor he must travel to Bethlehem.

After a journey Tilly takes Nestor to a donkey dealer and Nestor spends the next months being ridiculed and abused by the other animals. One night Mary and Joesph arrive and want to purchase Nestor because they've fallen with his gentle eyes. The dealer gives Nestor for free. Mary Joseph and Nestor travel thru the desert and get caught in a sand storm, but Nestor uses his ears to hear the voices of angels and gets the two to Bethlehem where in a manger Jesus is born. Nestor returns to his farm where the animals and Olaf greet him with loving embrace.

This special is sad because Nestor's mother obviously dies and also there is a little abuse among the animals but it is forgiven in the end. I recommend this special for kids and nostalgia adults. It also teaches how that you have a purpose and God created you for that special purpose

Great and underrated Christmas special, A classic
8 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
It's a nice special which teaches Christmas is about giving not getting. I recommend this underrated special for people who like Rankin Bass and also for those who like Religious specials

Lucas is an orphaned shepherd boy who looses his eyesight during a lighting storm. The boy is discovered by some nuns who help him and care for him at their convent. Mother Teresa (one of the nuns) encourages the local priest to allow Lucas to stay at the convent and the priest agrees until the boy is back on his feet.

Lucas makes friends with the other children in the village and shows off his pet sheep flock and his dog Waggles, He decides to give his sheep and Waggles to Mother Teresa as a present for Christmas. However some mean boys decide to play a cruel prank and steal his sheep and hide them in a shed. However the sheep break free and run into the wolf infested forest nearby. With the help of the boys and Lucas they corral the sheep and rescue all of them. Later on They perform the First Christmas for the village and it starts to snow. Lucas wants his friend whose name is Lousia to explain what snow is. She of course explains snow is wet and cold and two drops of snow flakes fall on this eyes. Lucas gains his vision gets to experience snow, and the priest and the nuns decide to allow Lucas to stay at the convent.

As I stated this is an underrated special, It never airs on television anymore and I like it. I also like Angela Lansbury's rendition of White Christmas. It's religious but a nice touch for the holidays

Charming special for Henson fans
8 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Awesome special if you are a Jim Henson fan, Emmet Otter is pretty much like a Gift of the Magi special but with some animals in it. It is one of my favorite Christmas specials and it's fun to watch

I recommend it for families and also for nostalgic adults. Sadly this is not aired on TV any more so it's pretty sad.

A very cute underrated sequel to The Little Drummer Boy
8 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Interesting sequel but the original is a bit better in my opinion.

No offensive but the only song worth watching in this special is Money Money Money, It's very catchy and cute. It's a different version of the story of the Little Drummer Boy and I personally like it.

Aaron returns in this sequel with one of the three kings Gasper to help a bell maker Simeon retrieve some bells from some evil Romans and their leader Brutus. The good guys get the bells back and Simeon plays his bells for all to hear.

Since this is a sequel it is good and cute, I recommend it if you are a fan of the original

Nice Christmas Special and I really like it
8 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Aaron is an orphan who hates all humans because of some bandits killing his parents, stealing his family's sheep and burning his farm down to the ground. Aaron gets kidnapped by a greedy man named Ben Haramad and his sidekick Ali who take him to Jerusalem to perform for a crowd. Aron snaps and lashes at the crowd of people accusing them of being thieves and bandits. They flee and end up in the desert, they meet the three kings and Ben Haramad sells Aaron's camel to the kings after theirs collapses of exhaustion. Aaron dumps Ben and Ali and follows the three kings to Bethlehem. They are reunited with his camel but his pet lamb Baba Is run over by a chariot and Aaron is distraught. Desperate to get his friend back he plays his drum to baby Jesus and Baba is fine and alive again. Aaron learns hating humans is wrong, and the movie ends with the narrator saying a quote

No seriously, I'm surprised this still airs on Freeform (ABC Family) this is probably one of the most tragic yet great specials. There are some dark scenes on here such as Aaron's parents being murdered, and their farm being burned (It's off-screen but one of the bandits tosses a knife and the dad falls down) There is also the kidnapping of a child, a lamb being run over.

It's a heartwarming special and I watch it every year. I recommend this though younger children should not watch this without an adult present. Some scenes might traumatize them

A very underrated Christmas special and it's such a treasure
8 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I've always been a fan of Rankin Bass, I grew up watching Rudolph, Santa Claus Is Coming to Town The Year Without a Santa Claus, Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas In July and also their underrated specials like Nestor the Long Eared Christmas Donkey, The First Christmas Snow, Pinocchio's Christmas and Little Drummer Boy and The Little Drummer Boy Book II

The Life and Adventures Of Santa Claus is a very underrated and overlooked gem to the Rankin Bass fan base. Sadly this is rarely shown on TV, and it appears Freeform, aka ABC Family has giving this special the chopping block. When this did air on ABC family it was heavily edited and not watchable

The story begins with the great Ak with a council with immortals explaining why Santa deserves the mantel of immortality and not die. He begins his tale of the life of Santa Claus by explaining how he discovered Claus as a newborn infant abandoned at the edge of the enchanted forest. He first enlists a lioness named Shegria to nurse and care for the child but a fairy called Neclie hears about the baby and steals it from Shegria. Ak agrees to allow Necile to care for the baby and she calls him Claus. Claus grows up in the forest and as a young adult Ak takes him on a journey to show him what humans are like, after witnessing dark scenes like poverty, child abuse, war and hunger Claus decides to live in a village not far and help children. He becomes a toy maker and makes toys for the village children. His talent in bringing joy to children makes him want to travel the world and deliver toys to all children thus becoming Santa.

Some evil villains called the Awguas cause trouble for Claus and steal his toys, but his immortal friends get the toys back by destroying the Awguas and their dragon. After an awesome battle with a dragon between good and evil, the immortals win and Claus gets to finish his journey on delivering toys,

As Santa gets older he decides to deliver the presents on Christmas Eve, hence why Claus makes his trip once a year. As Ak finishes his story, the council agrees to bestow the mantel of immortality for Claus. Claus gets to be immortal and becomes Santa Claus who continues to deliver gifts to this day.

This special again Is very much a part of my childhood and I love it, It's a lot different than the book such as a character called Tingler but it's a nice story about Santa Claus. The songs are nice and my favorite is A Child, We Wanna Wake Up to a Big Surprise is nice too. It's dark, but it's geared more toward older kids and adults. But if you want to watch something different I recommend this. Great special

Not as great as the stop motion Rankin Bass but a nice story for younger kids
8 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I'm going to be honest here, personally I do not like this Christmas special, It's not awful and don't get me wrong, I grew up in the early 2000's so I defiantly saw this one year during Christmas time at school. It's not bad, but it's not great either, I think personally this is a waste of time.

The story narrated by the great Ak explains how Santa Claus a foundling baby adopted by a fairy grew up to help children and become Santa Claus. It's a nice story and it has decent songs for kids. Having seen both versions of the Life and Adventures Of Santa Claus, the animated version is very weak and It feels too dumb-ed down for children. I lost interest in this movie after ten minutes of watching this.

Maybe this is geared toward younger children and that is personally fine, the Rankin Bass version is awesome in both the story-line and the characters. I like the look of the Awguas in the original and Necille supposedly is a nymph in the animated version, and acts older while in the Rankin Bass she is very young and looks like a fairy

Over all I'm being nice and am giving this special a 4/10 It's not great, but it's decent. I recommend the Rankin Bass version, It's much better

A cute movie, I liked the modern concept but....
28 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
If you didn't know the story of Yours Mine and Ours Frank Beardsley is a widower who meets Helen North a widow, she has eight children from her first marriage and he has ten. They get married totaling their family to eighteen kids and later on have two more.

The Lucille Ball version (1968) was much more accurate than this version, even though the movie exaggerated a lot. In this version (2005) Frank Beardsley is admiral for the coast guard, He is a widower and moves his family to New London, Connecticut from San Diego. The children's names are changed and are switched around with Frank having eight children, while Helen has ten. Also 6 out of the ten of Helen's kids are adopted and are of different ethnics

In the original movie, there are housekeepers but they leave quickly as soon as they discover how rambunctious the kids are, In the update version there is a housekeeper named Mrs Munion who really isn't in many scenes, she just comes and goes. Also the North kids have numerous pets including 2 dogs, 2 cats, a crow, some finches, a hamster, a rat as well as a pot bellied pig.

The movie is OK, I just think it could have been better

A heartwarming tale of a pig a spider and a miracle
5 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
A litter of pigs are born on the Arable Farm one spring morning, ten of the piglets are perfectly healthy, nursing from the sow. The 11th baby pig is a runt, small and weak and is useless. John Arable decides to kindly do away with the runt, but his eight year old daughter Fern pleads for the piglet's life, She gets to raise it and names him Wilbur. After six weeks of raising Wilbur, the pig has grown bigger and is no longer an infant any longer. John tells Fern Wilbur has to be sold.

Wilbur is sold to Fern's uncle Mr Zuckerman who lives across the street. At the Zuckerman Farm Wilbur is lonely and misses Fern, He makes friends with a goose and tries to befriend a lamb, However the lamb's father vetoes it explaining that sheep are regarded highly for wool, while pigs are destined to be slaughter during the early winter. Wilbur is horrified at the prospect of becoming Christmas dinner however a voice tells him he will be all right.

In the morning the voice turns out to be a Grey spider named Charlotte, she becomes Wilbur's best friend and saves his life, thanks to Charlotte spinning miracles Wilbur is spared and gets to live a full life,

I really loved this movie growing up, and i prefer this than the live action version, and the 2003 sequel. Debbie Reynolds was defiantly a wonderful Charlotte, I enjoyed Don Messick as the runt gosling Jeffery and John Stephenson as John Arable, Paul Lynde did a great Templeton Yes the animation is cheesy but its a cute movie, And if you prefer the book Charlotte's Web, that's fine too

Pretty bad,
6 October 2016
First off, the only thing I agree with Mr Enter is the Spongebob episode Squid Baby. I thought it was disturbing and an insult to people with mental disabilities, However I disagree on some of his reviews such as One Course Meal, and Truth or Square. I feel he was cold on spewing hate on them even though I am not a fan of those episodes but I feel he is too harsh and hypocritical. Which isn't bad but he uses his Autism as an excuse.

That being said I do appreciate him reviewing shows, I think he is kind of harsh, The Nostalgia critic is better in my personal opinion, But Mr enter is attacking shows that are actually good but have bad episodes, I think he should leave Youtube and get a real job

The Bugaloos (1970–1972)
10/10
Very cute show, great music, actors are cute
26 June 2016
This is probably one of my favorite Krofft shows besides Land of the Lost, Hr Pufnstuf and Lidsville.

The Bugaloos is about four British fairies who look like insects, Joy played by Caroline Ellis is a beautiful butterfly, I.Q. played by John Mcindoe a grasshopper, Courage played by John Philpott a ladybug and Harmony played by Wayne Laryea. They live in this forest called Tranquility with a firefly played by the late Billy Barty and voiced by the late Walker Edmiston. Their enemy is a rock witch named Benita Bizarre played by the late Martha Raye, a sneaky devil who was probably borrowed from Cruella De Vil because of her obsession with feathers. There were plenty of other characters like Peter Platter and a stupid messaging bird

After 2 seasons one in reruns, the actors who played the Bugaloos returned to England with hopes of coming back to film a movie with Colombia Pictures. Sadly it didn't happen the the cast moved on with their lives

But do you know today, there is a HUGE fan base for this show. There are at least three Bugaloos fan sites Bill Ung's popular Tranquility Forest. Really recommended by the way along with a Facebook page. The cast still appreciate folks memories of the show and occasionally pop on the website

Now I can go on and on about how great this show is, but I won't, I was born in the early 90's but I grew up watching The Bugaloos and other Krofft shows. I will say I am impressed with the music they do have lovely voices, Sparky was the character i related the most. I had a crush on the guys and Joy was the big sister every kid wanted.

My father watched this show and I am proud to say hopefully someday my own children will watch the show

Great Werewolf Film
31 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
If your looking for a good scary werewolf film, this is for you

The plot is simple narrated by Don Alfredo Corledo played by Clifford Evens. A beggar (Richard Woodsworth) wanders to a town in 18th century Spain, where he learns the town Marques is marrying and that the town people are forced to celebrate. The beggar decides why not try some luck and goes to the castle where the Marques (Anthony Dawson) treats him like an animal and cruelly tosses the beggar when he is finished with him in the castle dungeon.

The beggar survives many years with only contact with the Jailer and his young daughter who was born mute. the old jailer dies not long afterwards with his daughter having blossomed into a attractive young woman. The servant girl (Yvonne Romain) now continue to feeds the beggar who has become more animal like living in his cell

The Marques meanwhile is alone and secluded in his room. His vile temper caused his young wife to go to an early grave and the few friends he possessed abandoned him. The old man attempts to seduce the mute servant girl, but when she bites and refuses his advances he has her tossed into the same prison cell with the beggar.

The beggar having gone insane from his confinement rapes the girl and dies from exhaustion. When the servant girl is released back to the marques. she kills him and flees the castle. living in the woods like a wild animal for some months before being found half drowned in a lake by Don Alfred and brought to his home

Don Alfredo's maid Teresa nurses the girl back to health and informs him that the girl is with child and that a unwanted child born out of wedlock is an insult to heaven. The baby, a boy is born on Christmas day and the mother dies shortly afterward. They name the child Leon who a few years later has grown up to be a handsome boy

When a local goat herders goats are found dead with their throats torn, by a wolf hunter. The mayor has the wolf hunter stay at the site to stake out for the culprit. The hunter shoots at a young wolf but as he hurries to check out the animal it is gone leaving a pool of blood.

Don Alfredo discovers Leon injured and takes the bullet out of him. After learning Leon had a nightmare for a period of weeks as a wolf drinking blood, he consults a priest. The priest suggests Leon's conception and unlawful birth cursed him and he needs love and affection from his family

Years pass and the transformations have ceased and Leon becomes a man. He leaves home and gets a job at the next town where he falls in love with his bosses daughter.

Unfortunately he turns into a werewolf and kills several people including the goat herder. Don Alfredo shoot Leon with a silver bullet and covers him with a cloth

The film is very interesting especially since George Woodbridge is in this as well as Oliver Reed. I really do recommend this film its worth a shot

Inigo Pipkin (1973–1981)
8/10
A good Children's show
16 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Inigo Pipkin later renamed Pipkins after the untimely death of George Woodbridge is a jolly old man who runs a puppet store and goes around collecting used and discarded items to create puppets from. His assistant is Johnny played by Wayne Laryea who coincidentally aired in an American children show The Bugaloos in 1970; I love that show

Anyways the puppets included in the show are Hartley a hare that looks like road kill; a tortoise named Tortoise, an ostrich, a penguin, a cat and a ugly pig. I forgot about the monkey Topoff and a pigeon too as well as a badger with an Irish accents, There's also Hartley's uncle who lives on a farm and a Scottish cousin that both look freaky

Mr Pipkins passed away two weeks into filming the second season and in 1974 Pipkins became the first preschool series to include a storyline about death well, two story lines about death. Mr Pipkins death episode became a strong topic about death. I had not seen the death of Mr Pipkins but I did see an episode where the Pipkins gang bought a goldfish and it died causing a brief discussion on eventually everything dies including people Johnny left the program in 1978 to star in Empire Road to be replaced by Tom Jonathan Kydd and later by Peter Potter

The show aired 313 episodes and sadly the only episodes remaining are 57 off air recordings from the guy who voiced Hartley and Tortoise and another presenter Jonathan Kydd who came in 1978 and left in 1980

The show aired from 1973 to 1981 and many episodes are present on four DVDS in the UK. Volume 4 came out in November and although I live in America I've bought the DVDS on Ebay

Not a bad show for little kids

Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas (2014 TV Special)

WORST Christmas SPECIAL EVER
16 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
OK, at least they had the guy who played Santa in the Elf movie on this and it is supposed to be stop motion (Santa Claus Is Coming to Town) But this is horrible, I saw the trailer on Youtube and got curious so I went to my local Target and bought the DVD

I couldn't get over the fact Jim Parson was in it (no offense to the actor) But his voice is annoying, This is worse than the Spongebob Christmas and at least that was interesting. Yes I do understand there are worst specials but this was the straw that broke the camels back. I'm sorry but the elves look freaky as hell, the person who voiced Walter Hobbs hurt me, I mean the guy gave me the heebie geebies And why do all the humans look like smurfs? I'm sorry but I do not like this special

The plot is basically like the movie where Buddy was raised by elves and doesn't find out he is a human until he grows up and Santa tells him about his birth father

I love Elf the 2003 live action movie and I am going to stick to that
