The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (2023)
Now this how a sequel should be...
We love TWD... but Maggie & Negan in NYC... meh. But this 1... what excellent writing!! The story of Laurent... is really compelling and Daryl is just amazing in the TWD series, so using him for this was an wonderful choice, he's just so good!! We're thoroughly enjoying this so much so far and Daryl is just such an amazing character. The back drop of a Parisian amagedon is exquisite and adds it's own creepy element. This series should certainly continue on it's own and hopefully it will. I think what helps this series is quite simply, there's hope here, despite what is seemingly a completely hopeless situation.
Calvary (2014)
WOW!
I can't emphasis how powerful this movie is. It's just very hard to convey it in words. It's very bleak... but it's also rich in narrative and character study. You love this Father/Priest... he's a good man who's endured a lot but despite of it - he gives so much to his parishioners. It offers a dark subject matter, the hypocrisy of the Catholic church and the sexual abuse of children that went on throughout the world for so many countless years. Was the church at fault? Of course it was, but do we also blame the innocent Catholics who continue to practice the religion despite it's heinous and repugnant past? It's a complicated. I'll admit - this movie made me weep, and will stay with me forever. It's that powerful. The acting was sublime and the cinematography gorgeous.
The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On (2022)
Compelling and Cringeworthy
OMG... all of these character's try so hard not be superficial and shallow, but no matter how hard they try - it doesn't work. Crazy dynamic! I especially loved how nobody else wanted Alexis or Nat, so they ended up just getting back together. And Alexis coming for Colby because she said he said she was 'unattractive' and 'of course, how could anybody think that?!'. He actually said he was not 'attracted' to her because during their 1 talk she went on & on about how having a lot of money was very important to her. Alexis, honestly some people are turned off by that... how do you not know that at 30 yrs old?
Se7en (1995)
1 of My Fav's...
So very good! I especially loved the ending when David (Pitt) is saying 'what's in the box'... don't close your eyes because you will actually see Tracy's (Paltrow) face, as the last image David saw of her. It's a brilliant and compelling cinematic move. It makes for really fun viewing because it's just a nano/split second, but once You see it - you can never unsee it. It stays with you forever. The whole film is wonderfully gritty and stands the test of time so well. We just viewed it again and realized how really classic it is. Take it in again... and I promise - you won't be disappointed. Bravo - David Fincher!
Shadowplay (2020)
Good Guys/Girls & Nazi Hunters...
What an interesting take on Post War Berlin. The acting is phenomenal and the story is really compelling. Each character is well-rounded and well, human. This is probably 1 of my favorite releases from Netflix, but they also blew me away w/ both Power of the Dog & Mud Bound. Take the time to watch and savor The Defeated, it gets better with every episode.
The Last Movie Stars (2022)
A Beloved Hollywood Couple -
Who accomplished so much. Their liberal politics and philanthropy should be inspiring to everybody. These are 2 of my favorite actors ever and they deserve every bit of admiration and accolades and then some more. Thank you Ethan Hawke and all the others for providing us with this beautiful documentary of 2 talented and good people! We binge watched once and plan 2 do it again. We even made note of the great movies we want 2 see again. Movies 2 watch w/Joanne & Paul
3 faces of Eve
The Fugitive Kind
The Down Payment
A Kiss Before Dying
The Stripper
Long Hot Summer
The Sound and the Fury
Hud
Paris Blues
New Kind of Love
The Hustler
Hombre
Cool Hand Luke
Rachel Rachel.
The Card Counter (2021)
Tiffany Haddish Ruined
What could have been decent movie. She's just such a crappy actress that it's hard 2 get past it. Just watch it for her horrible acting... that's amusement in it of itself. Oscar Issac is pretty goix but isn't he always??
Minamata (2020)
Depp Deserves an Oscar for this 1 !!
Wow! What a amazing and so very sad true story and Johnny Depp is as wonderful as ever! I don't think anybody could have pulled off this performance but Depp. It's a story about corporate greed and it's helpless victims. So well told!
Forrest Gump (1994)
1 of My Favorite Movies of All Time
I can almost imagine my funeral and 1 of my 2 Kids saying... 'my mom really adored Forrest Gump'... That's how much this movie means 2 me. It gave me my fav emotions 'Laughter through tears'. FG is Americana at it's finest. The characters so rich & real. The acting is sublime. The music is a character in it of itself. Watch with an open mind and just enjoy the emotional ride.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017)
I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!
I've been watching this marvel of a sitcom since Season 1, every season it just keeps getting better. Rachel is a treasure as well as the rest of the amazing and talented cast. I could actually equate this series with I Love Lucy, it's much more contemporary version. I love everything about this show because of 1 true thing... it's absolutely hilarious! And the over-the-top fashions of the 50's are fabulous! If you give this show a chance you will fall in love with... I promise!! Bravo to TMMM and hoping there are many more seasons to come! Yay AMAZON!

Loved This Story
Not many movies these days end with me crying through laughter, my favorite emotion, and this 1 did. What a wonderful story to watch during these very bleak times. A little respite from the days sorrows. Thanks for the beautiful story.
The Auschwitz Report (2021)
The Victims of Authoritarian Regimes...
As we view the atrocities currently being done to the Ukrainians by Putin's army... we're able to view films such as this and see the inhumanities to man. The garden of Jewish men will give me nightmares for the rest of my life. I wept several times during this film. Very hard viewing but it's a story that needed to be told despite how horrific the story is.
Aileen Wuornos: American Boogeywoman (2021)
So bad - It's 'kinda' good... I guess?
It's certainly not 'Monster'... but I'm so tired of everybody sanctifying Aileen's victims! This poor woman was victimized her whole life! The men she killed were john's who wanted her for sex and nothing else. I believe Aileen was completely mentally I'll with severe anger issues. But this movie is pure fiction... but it's kinda fun. Talk about twisting truths... I think they could've done a much better job if they just told her true story from her horrific childhood up to when she became the most notorious female serial killer in American history. It's a very sad sad story.
Titane (2021)
Went 2 Crazytown...
And I liked it. It was 1 of those movies that you will never forget. And not in a bad way. Reminded me of the movie 'Under The Skin' staring Scarlett Johannson, which is absolutely 1 of my fave horror movies. Go in2 this movie with an open mind and don't expect 2 much from it. You won't be disappointed if you go in with that attitude. It's a crazy thrill ride!!
The Many Saints of Newark (2021)
Nice Try... but
Too bad... it just didn't live up 2 the level of The Sopranos series. I kinda think it would've been better with Scorsese at the helm. Scorsese has a way of telling a compelling story in the confines of a 1.5 hr film. His characters have more depth to them. The Many Saints of Newark had too many characters and not enough time to develop them for the story. Of course, we already knew many of the characters... but only Tony & Uncle Jun were fully developed in this story. They tried with Livia but it was only superficially. I mean was she always just a mean & nasty harpy or was it her marriage to Johnny Soprano? And why so much focus on the racial tension of the early 70's... how did those events impact these Italian/American gangsters? It seemed forced and out of place. BUT... if you're a fan of The Sopranos - it's a must watch. We've decided 2 watch The Sopranos all over again - no matter how dated because it's just amazing viewing even after all these years.
Malignant (2021)
Wowzers!
Let me start off by saying... I'm not a big fan of campy horror. I went not expecting to be so entertained by this horror movie. Really good original stuff right here. The last 40 mins is pretty spectacular. Go in with an open mind and be thoroughly entertained!
Fanny Lye Deliver'd (2019)
If You Ever Wonder If Religion is Prone to Corruption...
Then watch this. The Delivered - totally delivers. Beautifully acted & shot. The evil in the quise of Puritan Christianity is palpable & very scary. Quite a compelling movie... it starts slow but stick with it because builds to a epic crescendo.
Macbeth (2015)
What A Gorgeous Film!!
This is a great film. A simple Shakespearean story of deluded ambition and how 1 can become mad with power. Beautiful cinematography and the acting is excellent. I'd see this 1 again & again. Only questioning why it took so long to be released... could it have something to do with Harvey Weinstein criminal cases? Don't let that prevent you from seeing this mesmerizing and haunting movie. Bravo to all involved... only a few movies of this level of excellence come around.
Bliss (2021)
Simply Awful...
What the hell were people thinking? Did people actually think this idiotic story was worth telling? Poor Salma & Owen... all I can think is why did they even agree to make it... sad. Don't waste time your time you will never get back.
No Safe Spaces (2019)
Right Wing Propaganda...
So, if your into hearing a conservative slant on everything - this film is for you. It just seems 'they' only want their freedoms to go 1 way... their conservative way, since in their narrow minds it's the only right way. Freedom applies to everybody folks - and there lies their rub and I suppose their reasoning for this film. Don't bother unless your a Trumper, then you'll love it.
Raised by Wolves (2020)
Frickin Incredible!
I don't get the low rating only 2 say these folks must have an issue with the Atheist's vs Religious Fanatics theme. This is fantastic Syfy done by a Syfy master, Sir Ridley Scott. Mother is scary as hell... but there's also a heart there as well, and that in it of itself is also scary because she has purpose and androids are completely committed. Every detail is done to such precise perfection here... this show is a wonder to behold. I can't wait for more episodes to be released. Go in with an open mind - and it's doubtful to disappoint. Bravo HBO !!!
Ghost World (2001)
The Flower That Ate the Moon...
I absolutely loved this movie. I've watched it at least 10 times and still laugh. It's a dramedy in the purest sense of the world. Enid and Becca are BFF's who just graduated high school. Your taken into their world for a ride. Sharp witty dialog and what's not to love about Seymour. If u've never seem this 1... do it - u won't be disappointed.
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007)
Haunting and Atmospheric Western
I LOVE THIS MOVIE! It's like Cinematic poetry, if there is such a thing. Every subtle nuance of this film will haunt you. The soundtrack is impeccable and sublime. The acting is mesmerizing and the dialog superb. It's timeless so give this movie a chance and you shan't be disappointed. It's still 1 of my favorite movies of all time.
Swallow (2019)
It's About Mental Illness Idiots!!
Some of these reviewers stating this movie pushes 'leftist ideologies' seem to be focused on looking for political slants on just about everything. It's becoming ridiculous! C'mon now... the movie is about a unhappy young bride suffering from an extreme form of Pica during her pregnancy. Relate it to the mental illness of cutting oneself... since it is closely related as she becomes increasingly becomes braver with the items she swallows. It has nothing to do with ideology or politics. Watch it for the compelling story, beautiful visuals and superb acting. The horror of it is... as she starts to swallow more dangerous items, what's going to happen to her? It's a psychological thriller for sure.
Kingdom (2014)
Finally... Kingdom is being aAppeeciated!
We had DirectTV back in 2013-15, and Kingdom was part of Direct's original line-up shows. We became so invested I. The characters that we grew so close to and anticipated watch week. Not only are all the actors phenomenal in their roles, the writing is gritty and edgy, never boring. Then, top it all off with a top notch soundtrack of songs during each episodes from Johnny Cash to Disturbed, and everything in between. I always say Man Men and Breaking Bad are by fav series, this 1 would be next in line.
