Bon Bini Holland (2015)
Okay, if you know the characters from the series FC Kip
Having watched the sketches of FC Kip in the past years I hoped the movie would have the funny characters and dialogue. Even though the characters were represented, the story was lame and the jokes mediocre at best. If you don't know the characters or understand Dutch, you will have no connection to the movie at all. Nice attempt from Jandino to make a movie based on the success of his series/sketches FC Kip. Sketches that I enjoyed a lot. Perhaps the sketches work as they are short and the stories can pack a punch and deliver. It was nice, but nothing more than that. And that is due to the fact that I know the series FC Kip and the characters. Give it a try, you might enjoy it.
The Night Of (2016)
Enjoyed it thoroughly, but a few major plot holes
Fell asleep during the first episode and a week later I decided to watch it again. Watched it and it took me 2 days to watch it completely. I enjoyed it thoroughly but throughout the episodes I got hung up on the plot holes. Too many things didn't make sense to me. However the characters did a great job. John Turturro was solid as Stone and so was Riz Ahmed as Nasir. I do recommend it as it is worth your time. It keeps you thinking and guessing, which I love, just a shame that the writers didn't spend a bit more time on making it a watertight script. Hope for a next season as I am curious if we will find out what really happened the night of.......
Child 44 (2015)
Enjoyable movie, glimpses of the Stalin era. It should have been fantastic considering the actors!
I was looking forward to see this movie and I watched it on my Amazon Prime account. It was an interesting movie with quite a a bit of potential. I enjoyed the acting of the main characters and even though the so called Russian accent was bad, it added something to the movie. There was quite a line up of actors and the acting was very decent. But throughout the movie the accents started bothering me. The accents ofthe main characters were so thick, it became annoying.
It distracted me from the movie, which was a shame. I enjoyed the story and the development of the story and characters. The story was interesting enough to want to see the whole movie even though I was disappointed that we were not given more explanation on the killer. It felt rather rushed. Did I enjoy it? Yes, it was good enough for a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Do I recommend it? Yes, it was decent, enjoyable and interesting to get a bit of feeling of the Stalin era, way of living and politics. It's worth to watch.
Mount Pleasant (2011)
Love it, the story line, the characters, all of it!!
Season 3, episode 8, watched 3 seasons in 2 days, it's so much fun and addictive! Love the characters, love the storyline and love the music! It's indeed the soap opera of sitcoms as you want to know what happens next and how the storyline develops. The characters are endearing, lovable, funny, outrageous, crazy and sad. It will make you laugh, it will get you peed off, it will get you singing and a bit teary eyed! Another 2 seasons to go. Can't wait to see the rest of the episodes! Typical British sense of humor, but even if you don't understand it, you will love it! A must if you're a Brit or living in Britain and a great watch if you love British series.
Gooische vrouwen II (2014)
Loved it, good laugh and a good addition to the series and the last movie
I have seen the series and the last movies. To understand the relationships the characters and the jokes, you have to be Dutch or understand the Dutch sense of humour and language. I loved it and I loved seeing the ladies back together. The movie had a many fun moments and even the sad ones were funny. It felt like seeing an old and lost friend again. It's a nice movie for some mindless fun! Probably not so much for people who don't know the characters, the background and understand Dutch. But I had a great Sunday afternoon. Sit back, relax and enjoy!! It's a real girlie movie about friendship, love, marriage, death, betrayal and trust.
