San Ti (2022)
The two episodes aired so far have gained more than 130 million views
The latest animated adaptation of China's award-winning sci-fi novel "The Three-Body Problem" has become a quick hit online, adding to the list of popular domestically produced animations. Called "The Three-Body Animation," the 15-episode series is based on the second book of famed Chinese writer Liu Cixin's trilogy and has garnered praise from fans online after being released. The two episodes aired so far have gained more than 130 million views combined on Bilibili, with the video streaming site calling the series its "biggest animation investment" in the past few years. The "Three-Body" series is Liu's best-selling apocalyptic space opera trilogy. The trilogy has since gained a massive following in China and around the world, especially after the series' first installment won the Hugo Award in 2015, a year after its English translation was published.
The Lazarus Project (2022)
Mix Tenet, The End of Eternity, Groundhog Day and The Adjustment Bureau
The series is a bit "Tenet" and quite interesting. The Lazarus Project has some forgivable continuity flaws, but it's a good TV series that mixes old time travel ideas from The End of Eternity, Groundhog Day, and The Adjustment Bureau. Despite the lack of temporal logic: "mutants" can revive months side by side with normal agents (non-mutants who cannot revive months), although they can use a special drug to remember, which ends up causing a certain exponential unsustainability, because instead to go back in time, they would actually be creating multiverses. But time travel is just that, travel of the imagination.
Crimes of the Future (2022)
A B- movie.
Existenz 1999 was a fun movie, to say the least. Its gooey special effects matched the times. Crimes of the Future 2022, and its anachronistic visual effects - also gross - outweigh the weirdness of Crimes of the Future 1970.
Either way, it's a tasteless and aesthetically ugly film. After all, no art.
The Northman (2022)
the boredom north
The only thing that charmed me about the film was Anya Taylor-Joy's nudity. Otherwise, it's a B movie with unhappy actors. All of the recipe's ingredients are present, but the resulting broth is bitter and unpalatable. Only ignorant condescension fearful of badmouthing a potential classic explains a positive review.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022)
Star Trek is back!
The big question that remains is why didn't CBS and its showrunners do this sooner? What led to the production of flops like Discovery and Picard if they already had all the gold in their hands? But, in the end, reason (and emotion) seem to have won their place in the trajectory of Star Trek's legacy. Strange New Worlds managed to bring tears to the eyes of millions of trekkers. May it continue like this, boldly going where no other series can go.
The Man Who Fell to Earth (2022)
Better than I figured.
Honestly, I was surprised, because when I saw the name of Alex Kurtzmann I expected more of a Discovery or Picard-style tragedy. Fortunately, the body of work, actors, script, effects is very good. It's a good take on the classic with David Bowie, but this time the alien has mutagenic powers and isn't just in makeup to disguise himself. I hope the rest of the series doesn't get lost in childish ramblings and remains reasonably adult. Let's move on.
Star Trek: Picard: Monsters (2022)
Unwatchable
Just when you think it can't get any worse, it gets even worse. How is it possible that this series still exists? It is the opposite of everything Star Trek stands for. Star Trek Original/NG/VG/ENT represents Enlightenment at its peak. Star Trek Picard/DSC represents the worst of civilization, moral and aesthetic decay.
Star Trek: Discovery: All Is Possible (2021)
All @#$% is possible.
The level of destruction of Star Trek's legacy is unbelievable. How is this creative poverty possible? Absolutely absurd. Unsympathetic characters, poor in spirit. The only good thing about the episode was getting rid of Tilly. But that probably won't save the worst version of Star Trek in history.
Shadow in the Cloud (2020)
All bad reviews about this film are misogyny.
Shadow in the cloud is an amazing film that is both pure entertainment and a deep criticism of macho society. Fun, thought-provoking and a beautiful example of dark humor. It is not a horror film, it is not a comedy, it is a challenging adventure film against fear, ignorance and prejudice. Many people who complained about the film must have identified themselves with the gremlin.
Star Trek: Discovery: That Hope Is You, Part 1 (2020)
What are you guys talking about?!
Star Trek Discovery isn't Star Trek. It's pastiche, fantasy. It set in a Scifi looking world, but there is no substance. Only a lot of bad acting and childish story's. Series like STD is what gives Scifi a bad name.
The Fugitive (2020)
Escape from The Fugitive.
I can't believe that a classic idea from a sensational 1963 series is reused in such a mediocre way. The actors are bad, the production is horrible, the dialogues are amateurs.
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
Let's get down to the facts.
You know there's something wrong in the 24th century when you witness anachronisms like curse words, bumbling spies, sunglasses, escalators, 3D printers, class struggle, cartomancy, vaping and airpods... : )
The premises of the Picard series are great. There is a Romulan conspiracy that has undermined the federation's work for centuries, a conspiracy that intensified after the supernova explosion. Romulans don't like androids, we can say that they had their "Cylons" in the remote past. And so, Data would be as enemy as the Borg.
My hope is that writers will one day read the discussions on social media and try to write better scripts, that's all. I find it sad that the wealth of content in Star Trek is wasted in stupid episodes.
A TV script needs consistency, closed end, context. Within such a context you develop the plots and characters. Without all this, we have only a series of dialogues and effects that do not create synergy. TOS and TNG had synergy. DSC and PIC have no synergy.
I find it interesting to watch, just like I watch other teen series, but I don't think DSC or PIC it's important to watch. I wish it were as important as TOS and TNG once was and VOYAGER, ENT and DS9 tried to be.
I think the renovation of Star Trek is fundamental. For example, the 2009 reboot, I found phenomenal, bringing back TOS with a new look and preserving the chemistry of the characters. The new look in the DSC and PIC are very welcome, but I think the scripts are shallow. They try to reach new heights, but are still below expectations. They jump off Roddenberry's shoulders, but instead of flying they crash to the ground.
Swamp Thing (2019)
DC Universe has canceled Swamp Thing.
Swamp Thing deserved better actors and actresses, better written scripts, and a more competent art direction ... That's it. The success in the comics derives from the quality of the text and the drawings, the series did not even come close. Result: DC Universe has canceled Swamp Thing. DC Universe has announced that it has canceled its latest live-action TV series Swamp Thing, just after the show's first episode premiered last week.
Star Trek: Discovery: Context Is for Kings (2017)
Boldly going where no one went before
Kings understand the whole ... okay, you convinced me. Star Trek Discovery set a great way forward. Lewis Carroll, Section 31 ... this third episode was the best possible surprise for those who enjoy science fiction. Yes, now I see the spirit of Star Trek on the scene, boldly going where no one went before.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Sorry, it is an STD
STD... STD...The worst attempt of Star Trek I ever imagined to ever watch.23rd century? Klingons? This example of television junk has nothing to do with Gene Roddenberry's vision of the future. How can they spoil a science-fiction tradition like Star Trek. How is it possible that they use the acronym STD for a TV series? It's a great irony. An insult to people's intelligence. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.
Dimension 404 (2017)
The best Twilight Zone's Child
Dimension 404 drinks better from the source (Twilight Zone) compared to other attempts like Black Mirror and others. Who compares with BM and other series has no idea what TZ was. In fact BM and similar are poor copies of the style and depth allowed in TW episodes. The Twilight Zone was an American television anthology series created by Rod Serling. The episodes are in various genres, including psychological horror, fantasy, science fiction, suspense, and psychological thriller; and often conclude with a macabre or unexpected twist, and usually with a moral. A popular and critical success, it introduced many Americans to common science fiction and fantasy tropes. The original series, shot entirely in black and white, ran for five seasons from 1959 to 1964.
