The Dead Files: Shadows of Death (2023)
Season 15, Episode 6
9/10
This show is now excellent with Cindy Kaza
17 November 2023
I've tried to watch this show for years but the previous medium was so outrageous with her facial expressions that just had to turn it off. Now they have Cindy Kaza who is amazing and very professional, I'm thoroughly enjoying this show now. I'm not sure if the show is being produced in any different way, it seems mostly the same as far how they manage cases so the overall improvement has to be from the change in mediums. Cindy Kaza was also on the Holzer Files which was another great series with a similar format so it seems she is a really good fit for this show. I'm encouraged by the early episodes with Cindy so I'm excited to add this to my list of paranormal shows to watch.

Ahsoka: Part Four: Fallen Jedi (2023)
Season 1, Episode 4
10/10
Now we're cooking!
7 September 2023
Strong battle scenes. Strong acting. The dark side is incredibly strong here. Baylan and Shin are incredibly strong characters in this episode. The actress playing Shin is by FAR my favorite amongst all of the female characters here. Ahsoka's character really shines during the fight scenes but her dialog is rather slow and pensive, borderline boring. Hera and Sabine's character are by far the weakest. Hera's actress almost converses her lines, as if she doesn't realize she's in a Star Wars series. She's just so unwatchable. Halfway through this episode I found myself actively hoping for their demise just to end my suffering.

All in all though a very well balanced episode, nearly flawless.

Ahsoka: Part Three: Time to Fly (2023)
Season 1, Episode 3

Decent but a mixture of issues.
4 September 2023
This series so far is decent but it's suffering from a few issues. Some with casting, some with directing.

Hera's character is unbelievable - mixed with poor acting and too much makeup, she's like a pretty girl stuffed in a Star Wars outfit with cute but out of place expressions. Conversely all of the villains here are fantastic, especially Shin (the Ukrainian actress). Just a fantastic expressive performance. Very believable.

The overall problem I've found with this series is pacing, Ahsoka's character suffers at times due to her vacillating between a lethargic smug sage to a top fighting Jedi. The directing is also suffering from music overload. Intense music being overlaid on battle scenes and light saber fights is actually smothering the flow of the scenes. If you notice the music more than you notice the action then you've probably got too much music.

All that being said, this is probably my second favorite series behind The Mandalorian. I'm still holding out hope for this one to get better though as the villains are exceptional.

Ahsoka: Part One: Master and Apprentice (2023)
Season 1, Episode 1
9/10
Nearly flawless
24 August 2023
A spectacular first show that hits hard right out of the gate. Has a couple slow moments but nothing as bad as Andor and actually is good for the overall pacing.

My only two minor complaints that keep this from being a perfect 10 involve music. Most of the music is extremely well done but there's a bit too much of it.

The first issue is during the speeder-bike scene, a very strange space heavy metal song is playing. It doesn't fit and nothing like it has been on Star Wars before, it felt corny and out of place. My second issue is playing music during the final light saber battle. Light sable battles are intense, they don't need music, they don't need help being interesting.

Other than that I was very pleased with this first episode. It's very well done.

House of the Dragon (2022– )

An honest assessment
23 August 2022
Ok. It's early so all of the first reviews coming in will be from a lot of fanboys and will be very inflated. Here's the truth.

Cons: The casting is awful.

The script is forced and rushed.

The acting is subpar.

The character development is mediocre at best, it has a very United Nations vibe, very much trying to cast all races just for the sake of it.

It's gorey for the sake of being gorey. The nude scenes also aren't well done, very rushed.

Pros: Music is well done.

Set locations are again very well done in keeping with the GoT themes, they obviously spent a ton of money here in set production.

I'm hopeful but not optimistic. I'll keep watching for a few more episodes but so far this first episode was horrid except for the final 10 mins, but, it wasn't enough to clear the bad taste out of my mouth. So far this series has a vibe of "throw tons of money at it and everything should be fine". But it's not.

Space Force: The Launch (2020)
Season 1, Episode 1

Barely digestible
20 February 2022
Barely digestible even fully intoxicated (my current state when watching episode one). Even knowing that it's a parody based on the former administration it's still awful, and yet, still better than the former administration. I guess I'll keep watching.

This is a tough one
13 February 2022
This episode has some major casting and directing flaws. After seeing this season through to the end, several things have become apparent. Favreau needs to refine his casting and they need to cut back on the mixed bag of directors, pick the best director and let them run the series (Bryce Dallas Howard) and stop giving anything Star Wars related to Rodriguez. In this final episode we have horrible pacing, bad action sequences, and for the love of god the awful power ranger scooters and their band od little pew pew cap gun characters. Just Awful. There's only one thing that saved this episode and I'm not going to say what it is but man, so many missed opportunities here to do better!

Cursed (2020)
10/10
Outstanding.
19 October 2020
This show is everything I have been looking for. The cinematography and musical score of this series is outstanding. This series is a blend of Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, and The Witcher. If you go in without any preconceived notions you should thoroughly enjoy this ride. If you want this to fit some story already created in your mind then it probably isn't for you. As for me, I loved it and I am ready for more.

Seasons 1 & 2 are great. Season 3 is bad.
8 April 2020
The first two seasons are great. Great writing, great theming, great plots, music and mood is excellent. Even the acting is really good. Then at the very last episode of season 2 you can just feel what's coming, it's like everyone is thinking, wow, our show is really popular now and we can just do whatever we want next season. The first episode of season 3 is total cornball. The music is stupid. The acting is cheesy/corny. The writing is awful. It's like the show went directly from Netflix to Nickelodeon. I don't know if all the producers and writers walked away or what happened but the show just sucks now. We literally had to step away from a show that we blissfully binge watched for two seasons and that saddens me.
