Mile 22 (2018)

Laughable
3 November 2018
In this pantomime of a story, Mark Whalberg is the leader of an elite team of special ops. He has an anger problem that is controlled by an elastic band. The story is flimsy and full of holes. but the worst part is the childish script. Mark Whalberg is always being fed straight lines from the others in the cast so that he has con reply with a witty response. Sadly, the set up is obvious and the punch lines or one liners are hopeless. The other sad part of this story is that it is another beat up on Russia. Less serious that Red Sparrow but more childish propaganda which is becoming tiresome from the film industry. Avoid at all costs.

Save 2 hours of your life
18 January 2017
Many people a raving about this one. I found it to be a waste of 2 hours that I could have spent watching paint dry. There is no action, little character development and a confused narrative. The film sets off on a confusing path but I hoped it would all come together at the end, as many films do these days. It didn't. The ending was vague, confusing and by the time it came, I was thinking of other things.

If you are expecting a superior plot, this is not for you. if you expecting exciting special effects, this is not for you. If you want action, again this is not for you. If you have lost your bed time tablets and can't sleep- this may be the perfect option for you.

Poor imitation
29 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
For anyone familiar with The Man from UNCLE TV series, expect to be sorely disappointed. This movie was written for an audience with a very low IQ. It's as if Guy Ritchie couldn't decide whether to make a spy film or a spoof and it ends up being neither.

The script is childish and silly. The action scenes are quite good but the movie has plot holes big enough to drive a bus through. the characters are poorly developed.

I was very disappointed. However, i have been with most Movies that are based on a TV series.

For goodness sake, can no-one come up with any new ideas for a film!!!

A c grade movie of the twins
1 September 2015
Warning: Spoilers
There is an older version of this movie starring the Kemp brothers. At least they looked alike. These two actors bore no resemblance to each other. This is a cheap movie, badly acted, not true to the story and it jumps about all over the place. There is no chronological order to the Krays growing up and developing their psychopathic behaviour. The movie was a hard watch due to the poor character development. What we have here is a very loose film based around the twins with lots of violence. The twins mother was hugely influential on the boys but we don't see her. The drunken, wife beating and child beating father also doesn't get a mention. Save yourself 2 hours and read a book or go into the garden.

Hopeless.

Worth watching so that more people know of Sharon Leal
26 June 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The premise of the movie was to show that there is redemption in believing. Cuba Gooding Jr overacts again. Sharon Leal in underused. The story centered around John Newton, slave trader, singer, poet and writer of Amazing Grace, and a family trying to escape from slavery in the South to Freedom in the North. The story could have been so much more nail-biting. I found it unbelievable and rather weird that the leads broke into song at the most inappropriate times. The story is loosely based on fact and the introduction of the true heroes of days gone by is probably enough to make the film worth a watch. Overall-disappointing.

Girl becomes super sleuth
2 June 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This film is worth watching if only to see if you recognize anyone. It has TV and movie stars galore. That being said, the movie starts losing the plot in the last 30 minutes with a run of the mill, conclusion. It is good to see Pierce Brosnan looking older and playing against type. he pulls the most unusual faces to show anger and frustration and probably practiced long and hard in the mirror. There is the obligatory black person in charge of the American Embassy and a lot of congratulatory messages about how great to the world America has been. Oh how we all n ed to love and oh, how we need Good Old America. This lightweight piece of propaganda cheaply uses 9/11 as a baseline to have a go at Russia. As is becoming more evident, the whole world has much more to fear from America.

Good for 90 minutes if it is raining.
