Marriage Story (2019)
The most pretentious, over-hyped awards fodder for the 2019-2020 award circuit.
My girlfriend talked me into watching this with her, and I figured it'd be decent from all the heaping praise lavished upon it. By the end of it, we were furious: This was absolute garbage.
The only scene in the entire movie that was any good was the courtroom battle, Laura Dern and Ray Liotta at least nailed that.
The rest of the movie, though? Absolutely king awful. Terrible main characters who deserve no sympathy, throwing away money on a convoluted, drawn out divorce process - only for them to ultimately come to the conclusions they already discussed *before* all of that even unraveled!
Go watch a movie worthy of the praise it's received - like Parasite. Marriage Story is one of the top 3 worst movies ever made by a AAA/top-tier studio.
Bless the Harts (2019)
Lol conservatives are so triggered by this show.
The show itself is honestly a 6/10, but I'm giving it a 9 solely for the fact it's doing exactly what it was intended to do: Trigger conservatives in red state hellholes into looking at how pedantic their lives really are; and how meaningless they are to the rest of America as a whole.
Granted, this is a cartoon, so the strong family bonds and positive characters are a bit exaggerated. That aside, all of the religious and classist stereotypes are 100% accurate.
It won't last more than one season (just like Bordertown - another Fox cartoon which conservatives HATED,) but it'll be fun to see if they push the envelope more and start instigating things more directly.
NXT Takeover: R Evolution (2014)
A glimpse of the future.
Simply put, when everyone is watching Raw and Smackdown! over the next few years and remarking at how much better the product has gotten, this show will be the stepping stone that will be looked back upon and regarded as the night the future of the company was born. An absolute can't miss if you are a fan of professional wrestling. From pleasing the casual fans, to the notoriously-stringent internet crowd, this one had it all. A proper and effective debut, a ring entrance that nearly broke the crowd, women who can actually wrestle(!), a championship fight that lived up to the hype, and the rebirth of one of the most memorable feuds to ever grace pro wrestling.
NXT's live specials alone have been worth the subscription to the WWE Netowrk, and this one has arguably been their best yet.
10/10.
