The Legend of Tarzan (2016)
Another terrible Hollywood rehash
Now I know this is a made up story, but the storyline is weak at best, coupled with some terrible acting and CGI. The whole reason for Tarzan going back is quickly forgotten, also skipped over is how he has been able to grasp English so quickly! There is hardly any chemistry between Tarzan and Jane, which isn't helped by fairly wooden acting. Jackson and Waltz try to pull the film up, but both are below par in this remake. There are lots of CGI shots, which may be good in 3D, but don't really work on a normal screen. The story jumps around, and you never really get caught by it. The ending is particularly poor, with animals able to identify the bad people, and and impossible survival of an explosion. I can only think, once again, that when a film is invested in so much they throw money at getting false ratings.
Mr. Right (2015)
Terrible, just terrible
I honestly don't know what this movie is supposed to be. Tim Roth (Shame on you) gives a rubbish performance with a poor attempt at an American accent, a really weak character. The movie from start to finish has no positive points. The plot is poor, no depth to any character. The lead character, a hit man, drives around in a classic Corvette, hardly inconspicuous. In classic 80's style no one is able to just shoot him. He meets a girl, although there is no on screen chemistry, who just accepts, with some terrible slow motion knife throwing, that he is a 'nice' hit-man. The fact that this has anything more than a 1 makes me question the rating for any movie. Once again: Tim Roth shame on you.
The Intern (2015)
A terrible movie, not even rescued by good actors
It is rare I feel strongly enough to write a review, but the fact that this movie gets a 7.2 makes me want to vent my frustration. How it gets such a high rating makes me very suspicious of IMDb. The movie is weak, a very poor story line after the first 30 mins. Also a massive amount of advertising, a cynic would conclude the money involved in this movie 'helps' with the rating. The husband is the movie is very poorly cast, and Rene Russo it totally wasted in a cameo role. The only reason this doesn't get a 1 star is down to De Niro and Hathaway. I'm not sure they need to be doing this sort of film, are times that hard? This could have been so much better. It's not.
Insurgent (2015)
Another terrible Hollywood movie
Just another poor movie. The acting is pretty bad, from those actors you sort of recognise, but you don't remember the name (except for Kate Winslet who must have needed a new handbag!) It is set in an apocalyptic world, no doubt trying to cash in on the Hunger Games movies. The lead is a poor mans Jennifer Laurence, and I never really believed any emotion she was attempting to portray. The storyline is pretty weak, you can see what is coming at most points. There is the standard guy pretending to be bad, and then comes good. They survive the most ridiculous of events, including the Hollywood last second saves. I assume the movies are getting cheaper to make, so they just churn out what they can, hoping to make some sort of money.
Fast & Furious 7 (2015)
More Hollywood Dross
This is a ridiculous film from start to finish, I can only imagine the high reviews are sentimental. The story line is terrible, weak and full of holes. It jumps all over, not flowing well at any point. The acting is also terrible, with maybe the exception of Kurt. Jason Stratham plays the same character as he plays in all his films, very poor as usual. However it is the over the top stunts and fight scenes which really ruin the film, truly beyond reality. How the film industry keep getting away with these high budget rubbish films is beyond me, and the actors should have a bit of dignity instead of a big bank balance. I hope they don't scrape the barrel with another sequel!
Senior Project (2014)
Just terrible
I am amazed that this has such a high rating. It is one of the worst films I've seen this year. The plot is very weak. It doesn't flow, and there doesn't seem to be a strong point to the storyline. There is no real character depth. I don't know which characters you are supposed to like or dislike. Terrible directing throughout. It sort of stumbles along with weak links. Acting is pretty poor from most including support actors. Some 80's split screen editing too. I don't know why I watched it all, although out takes at end was probably best bit. I can only hope this is someone learning the industry, but it goes into the pile of trash with so many recent movies.
