The Night Agent (2023)
Would be better if you could see it
First of all, it is filmed so darkly - literally dark colors - that it's very hard to see what's going on. Secondly, it's fairly predictable in the first two episodes maybe it gets better? But I lost interest squinting to see what was happening with my lighting turned all the way up.
I was also not at all surprised at any point about where it was headed. The good looking square jawed guy is a big hero, rescuing the poor helpless woman. And someone getting chased or getting shot every five or 10 minutes. Somehow the surprises weren't at all surprising. I'm sure it appeals to young boys everywhere but if you're looking for grown up entertainment try The Diplomat instead.
Dickinson (2019)
It's pronounced AMMERST, Not AM HERST
I didn't mind the teeny bopper slant or modern language, especially if it gets young people interested. But so many inaccuracies too hard to get through.
Coherence (2013)
Sci fi party in a box
Get high with your friends & watch this movie! It has twists & turns, the acting is really good and you can relate to the set up.
This Way Up (2019)
Well written & well paced
Real, funny & engaging characters. Would love to see more!
The Royal House of Windsor (2017)
Deeply biased
So clearly biased against Diana it's astonishing. Rubbish.
Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese (2019)
Jumps all over the place
Love Bob Dylan & lots of the other people in this but it's frustratingly strung together making it boring to follow.
Friends from College (2017)
Talented actors, unlikable characters
Tried 3 episodes. Hard to enjoy characters who've been cheating on their best friends for years. And on top of that unappealing premise, the comedy is uneven. There were a few laughs but mostly it was a slog to get through. Too bad because there's clearly lots of talent in the cast. Hope to see them again in a better vehicle.
Dave (1993)
Perfect
Watchable so many times due to a sly witty Kevin Kline & terrific cast.
Fyre (2019)
Karma for spoiled idiots
How sad & empty do you have to be to think like these guys? Well done doc exposes spoiled boys.
The Mountain Between Us (2017)
Opportunity missed
Could've been Cast Away in the snow but SO not plausible & the dialogue was ridiculous.
The Jury (2002)
Good binge watch
Great characters, good storyline. A few plot holes but overall worth a binge.
Bodyguard (2018)
Gripping beginning, overall good, preposterous end
Full of fun twists & turns, well done but preposterous at the end (really? A guy with a suicide vest strolled through London?)
Dix pour cent (2015)
Excellent actors, great premise, terrific writing!
I stumbled on this show & couidnt stop watching it. Great character development & storylines. Looking forward to season 3. Highly recommend!
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017)
Didn't work for me
I tried watching this when it first came out but it didn't make me crack a smile. After it won big at the Emmys I watched again & still don't see what the fuss is about. It seems forced & inauthentic. Oh well, glad others enjoy.
His Double Life (2016)
Fox News would love this
This is a ridiculous predictable movie that prays on people's fears of "the other". In this case it's scary Russians who infiltrated our country. Unbelievably at the end there is a graphic Warning us all to be aware because he's our neighbor is our friends and our husbands. It is such drivel, FOXNews would be proud. warning us all to be aware because he's our neighbors our friends and our husbands. It is such drivel, FOXNews would be proud
Active Measures (2018)
Undeniably well-researched
Great doc with solid reporting that connects the dots between Putin, Trump & money laundering. The only drawback is background music is annoying & unnecessary.
Like Father (2018)
Good story idea but didn't click
Not a lot of chemistry or believability. Kelsey did his best.
Lost in Space (2018)
Wanted to love it
I wanted to like this reboot. The cast is good, special effects great but writing is not good. I found myself fast forwarding through dopey scenes that were meant to establish relationships because the dialogue was cringe worthy. There is SO much great writing for TV now that it's not tolerable to watch subpar work. Too bad. Great premise.
