Sweet Country (2017)
1/10
Dull, predictable and been done before.
6 July 2018
Just nothing new to witness. One guy posted "Built with imposing emotional depth, Sweet Country is an angry discourse on racism" or as I would say, crap. We've all seen films about slavery and ruling empires for decades and this is just a diluted version. Watch "Roots" from the late 70's as this is just a watered down version of that.

Terrible.
15 June 2018
What a shambles of a movie. No coherence whatsoever. Just jumped from one scene to the next without any links. If Stallone wasn't in it I wouldn't have bothered but the role he played and time he was in it just didn't amount to anything. "Enjoy" at your peril.

I tried but I just couldn't.
4 June 2018
This was tedious to watch, so unrealistic these days and basically God Squad bible bashing propaganda. If you liked Little House on the Prarie then go for it. It smacks of all the moral values that we pretended to have back in the 60's. Bad dialouge, acting and storyline.

Should have been called "Airplane" 666
3 June 2018
For those of you of a certain age this was like a remake of Airplane but was not funny. I tell a lie, I did actually chuckle at a few points, even though I probably wasn't supposed to. I was half expecting Leslie Neilson to walk on at one point to "calm" the passenger down. Bad acting, bad script and just too many elements that you spend time questioning instead of watching. I gave it two stars because it made me laugh.

Am I missing the point?
30 May 2018
Was this by the same Ben Elton who co penned The Young Ones and Blackadder? After reading other reviews I was really looking forward to get a taste of his brilliant writing skills again but it just didn't work at all for me at all. It didn't go anywhere and was like a long mindless train journey that never actually arrived at it's destination. Dull, uninteresting and not funny at all. Sorry Ben but as a great admirer of your brilliant work back in the day, this falls way short.

Silent Hill on the TV?
27 October 2017
I'm up to chapter four now and so I thought I'd put down in words what just dawned on me. A few chapters earlier a couple of scenes stuck in my mind and it didn't click until the fourth chapter. This really reminds me of the PlayStation game Silent Hill. Not 100% but there are a lot of similarities and to me that's good.

Really enjoying it. As the story unfolds it becomes clearer and definitely more addictive.

A few old cliche's, done before sub plots and back stories but they take nothing away from the overall enjoyment.

Now back to chapter five.

Am I sexist?
26 August 2017
I gave it a nine purely due to the fact that most women fight like a girl and the girl in this film fought like a man.

Great story line with a sniff of a sequel in the air that was just enough to be believable. Nice to see a few "older" actors in the mix and nice to see a topical subject covered in a non political stance.

Looking forward to the sequel.

Looking good.
22 July 2017
I'm half way through episode three and I've come back here to review previously reviewed comments. One reviewer likened it to Breaking Bad but different and I totally agree.

It's the same premise as Breaking Bad, a father is looking out for his family whilst knowingly breaking the law but in a good way {you kinda know what I mean} and so even if he is bad you have a certain sympathy and empathy for the guy.

Handled well this could be as good as Walking Dead before it was handled bad.

Didn't laugh once.
22 July 2017
I like to think I have a good sense of humour and can take something from any genre but this was just dull and boring to the point where I literally wanted to slap some of the characters.

We basically spend a day in the life of the most boring man on the planet who is then out bored by friends, friends of friends and random encounters.

The problem with writing, directing and staring in a production like this is that if you don't allow other peoples input or criticism then it's all on you and sadly Andre Hyland, it's all on you.

I gave it 2 stars as the gummy bear scene was mildly amusing but the rest was like spending a day with a distant cousin who you just met and had nothing in common with.

13 Reasons Why (2017–2020)
10/10
Best thing Netflix had a hand in since it started.
6 April 2017
After the trash Netflx has been churning out (I won't be specific as it's not relevant) I was a little cautious to allot my time trying out another series they spew at us but after reading reviews on here I thought I'd give it a try.

On the whole I respect IMDb users as we all seem to have similar tastes and hates and that respect was justified.

13 Reasons Why is an absolute brilliant addition to the Netflix portfolio and is not to be missed.

I won't go into the plot or story line as you can google it for yourself but if you want to be entertained you can't miss this.

Roll on season two and keep an eye on what's in Tyler's box in episode 13. I think that is significant.

Quarries (2016)
2/10
Dull, predictable and well below average B movie.
10 March 2017
I really need to read more reviews before I watch a film as again I've been caught out by what I can only describe as the production team reviewing their own film.

Firstly to compare this to "Deliverance" is beyond a joke. The acting is poor, the characters are dull and predictable and the script is lacking.

If you look up cliché in a dictionary it would say "watch Quarries".

I gave it two stars because the white Ford mini bus they had was the same as the one I hired when in Florida last year and it reminded me of a great family holiday. The film however reminded me of the black and white films my Gran would watch on a Saturday afternoon, usually asleep.

Not a film for me.

Is this the final chapter?
24 February 2017
Well is it the final chapter? I seriously doubt it. We all must have seen numerous documentaries about OJ and what happened or didn't happen and we all have our own version of what we think happened. Some older people (like me) may remember watching this as it happened and some may have caught up after the fact but it's still a fascinating watch.

This is as comprehensive as it gets, and at seven and a half hours does cover it very comprehensively. I did it in three instalments and never got bored on any occasion. It was factual, with actual footage of the trail, and is updated with commentary provided by many who were involved.

I'm not gonna take sides and slam or praise anyone but be assured, you will. No matter how you think things went down you will have a good guy and bad guy scenario and like me you will become a little louder than normal.

Well worth a watch even though it takes a while.

The Crash (2017)
10/10
Great movie, very realistic.
14 January 2017
This movie is not action packed, there are no car chases, explosions or any of the sensationalism found in other movies.

The characters have no super powers and are not vampires or zombies.

The plot is highly believable and well acted without going overboard.

I'd highly recommend this as it's a well rounded and honest film with a nice twist at the end.

The characters are well cast and all share and contribute to the bigger picture without dominating or taking over.

Everything comes together towards the end and it all fits into place. You're not left thinking or wondering why/who/what you just know.

I can't see it being a blockbuster but it's certainly well worth a watch.

Great film.

Bias Clinton propaganda.
30 October 2016
I gave this a 2 as there are some bits (and I mean bits) that are quite funny and non political but the rest of it is just subjective political endorsement for Clinton. A documentary (as this is described) is a factual unbiased commentary which includes both sides of a subject carried out in an objective way. This is not. This is merely one mans opinion that is so tainted by his self confessed adoration for Clinton that it should regarded as a love video and nothing more. You expect politicians to spout crap and bullshit but film makers should be more responsible for the films they produce, especially when they're labelled "documentaries".

Embarrassingly cringeworthy.
17 June 2016
I apologise from the UK to the world for this terrible terrible movie. The acting is wooden and unbelievable, the story is so unbelievable and to compare this to Duel and Deliverance is an insult. Where music is concerned I always say there is no bad music, it's all about your taste. This is just bad. Period. Avoid at all costs.

The dramatic music score must have been taken from another movie as the drama wasn't there at all. The characters dramatic pauses where more like "Joey" from Friends "smell the fart" advice on acting and if a violin case falling out of a car scares you this is a movie you'll love.

This has got to be the worse movie I have ever seen. I haven't watched Snakes on a Plane as I took heed to advise on here. This is probably one of a few reviews I have done on here but this movie merits it.

Watch at your own peril, or not.

Django Unchained revisited but with snow.
2 January 2016
I really really wanted to like this after being sold short watching Django Unchained but sadly I didn't. It was too slow, too long and too dull.

The story was drawn out, the acting was wooden and the script was forced and seemed like acting.

It seems to me that Tarantino has got stuck in a rut and is purely going through the motions of making motion pictures. He seems to be stuck in a "say n1gger a lot and have loads of blood" scenario and quite frankly it's getting boring.

I do appreciate him using "older" and established actors and on the whole they did give it their best but, as they say in England, you can't shine sh1t.
