Resident Evil (2022)
Decent after episode 1.
Episode 1 is not very good at all, but it quickly becomes better. The story is relatively interesting, and I actually found that I liked a lot of the characters. The dialogue is good (I've seen worse) and the cinematography/VFX is decent. The show felt big budget and I was surprised at how much they could do, especially with covid limitting certain aspects such as extras. By the finale it definitely felt like the show was kinda meandering and didn't know where it wanted to go so it just decided to sequel bait. I enjoyed all the allusions to the Resident Evil universe by the end. It seems that a lot of reviews on here didn't watch past Episode 1. I think calling the show "Resident Evil" gave the allusion to many people that it would actually be about the game story, whereas it's actually more of a spinoff, which people seem to be very angry about, even though the trailers and promotional material didn't hide any of this. This seems more supplemental if anything; like all of the games could still take place in this universe without an issue.
I enjoyed the character of Albert Wesker, and also liked how they made him a clone of the original which eased a lot of issues I had about the character. From the little we see of the OG Wesker, it seems like he's the same beast as from the games.
Overall it's an entertaining show that starts very slowly, but has some good action and storylines throughout, and definitely doesn't deserve the terrible rating that is has on here.
Naomi: Zero to Sixty (2022)
Improving
I didn't really like episode 1. Episode 2 was a bit better and Episode 3 is better than 2. It seems to be improving pretty steadily. Cinematography is really good, and it doesn't feel like a run of the mill CW show which is good. In episode 1 I didn't really like any of the characters but now most of them are growing on me. Just the fifa song at the end.
Doctor Who: The Timeless Children (2020)
Disappointing.
Answers nothing. Adds nothing (until literally the last 5 seconds). I was really enjoying the season too. Shame it had to end like this.
Titans: Nightwing (2019)
Why
Nothing makes any sense. I don't know why this exists. There are just so many fundamental issues with this episode that makes me question why anyone would ever think that this was a good idea. The VFX were sub-par, storylines were boring, and characters seem to just stand around when big events are happening.
I was so excited for this finale, but it all comes crumbling down at the end.
After the first few episodes of Season 2 I thought this show was going to get better (and it did for a while), but then for some reason they decide to split up all of the characters and go back to a season 1 format, but instead of having each character on their own, they are in pairs. And look, I could deal with the rehash of the Season 1 style, and I could deal with the boring side-storylines that go nowhere, because I knew that in the end, the season would be redeemed by an intense final battle against Deathstroke. How could I be so wrong. What we actually got was Arrow Season 4 levels of fight scene with cuts every 10ms, unreasonable choreography, and a disappointing final fight. Deathstroke was the villain for the whole season, but was overshadowed by the introduction of Cadmus and now just dies in the street.
This is possibly one of the worst written episodes of television that I have ever seen.
So excited for Season 3.
Class: The Lost (2016)
Tied up loose ends, and posed even more logical questions.
The season finale of 'Class' was all that the season hyped it up to be. Loose ends were tied up in a manor that everyone could understand, and even more questions were posed that could potentially lead into a season 2. The episode felt structurally superior to the rest of the series, and each event tied into one another effortlessly, although some of the character elements of Ram and Tanya felt quite forced, but could be understandable at a second glance. The love interest story line that continued in this episode felt much like an afterthought, and I felt as if it were only there in order to further dramatise the climactic ending. Hype built tenuously throughout the episode, and in the latter half when all was revealed, I felt surprised at the many twists that occurred and genuinely was in disbelief at the prospect. In conclusion, this episode was well put together with the character's choices feeling relatable, and creating more questions than answers but didn't feel cluttered with them, and they all made sense in the context of the episode, and it would be a shame if there were no season 2.
