The Road Home for Christmas (2019)
This One Really Touched My Heart
This is the first time in years a Christmas movie has truly moved me to tearing up and tightness in my chest. I went in thinking, ah well, time for yet another holiday road trip and was pleasantly surprised.
Absolutely worth a watch. The male lead did a really great job. Gonna save this one on the DVR to watch with my daughter at Christmas.
Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)
Best Spidey Film Yet
I have to rate this as my favorite Spider-Man film ever. Tom Holland is fantastic as Peter Parker and Spidey. Jake Gyllenhaal delivers a Phenomenal Mysterio. I absolutely loved the "magic" of Mysterio. The action was spot-on.
Magic Mike XXL (2015)
Darn Good Road Trip Film
Magic Mike XXL is a darn fine road trip movie. The cast is wonderful and have more opportunities to act in this film. Who'd a thunk it? We get to know the guys from the first film and we really care about them. Add to that we're viewing scads of beautifully sculptured male bodies throughout the film and its win win all the way around!
All the bad reviews are so inaccurate and missing the point. This is a feel good movie about male strippers. Or maybe the reviewers are a little too close minded. MM XXL is big Fun with a capital F. A really laugh out loud type of film.
The cinematography is beautiful. There are some gorgeous shots of Georgia. The soundtrack is good too. I really enjoyed all the main characters' final routines. The film creators really put some thought behind it and didn't just throw something at us just to make more money. For that I thank them.
Well worth the money and the time.
Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006)
Love it!
I don't understand how anyone could not love this film. What happens between Dev and Maya happens more frequently than you can imagine. I'm putting this one up there with "Doctor Zhivago", my God! What an epic! KANK was a moving, quiet yet powerful film.
Abhishek was wonderful as Rishi. I really liked how Rishi, after being cuckold, is able to come to honest, realistic terms with what happened and man enough to tell Maya. I haven't seen many Amitabh films (none of his earlier films) but I must say I see what all the hype is. This role was so very different from anything I've seen him take on (in that the character appeared to be very frivolous), and he is still superb. I didn't detect a bit of discomfort or doubtfulness in his performance. Unlike Rani's dominatrix scene. I can't decide if she was slightly uncomfortable or if she was too darn perfect because what she was doing was totally out of her character's nature. Maybe it ran just a little too long. Overall Rani's performance was wonderful too. How can you not love her? She's so darn easy on the eyes. Rhea's (Preity Zinta) could have used a little more building. I didn't feel as much sympathy for her as I thought I would. Don't get me wrong, when she smacks Dev across the face for being unfaithful I cheered with both fist in the air. I guess if Mr. Johar made us feel too sorry for Rhea we would not have been so pleased when Dev & Maya finally get together. I've saved the best for last. What can I say about Mr. Khan that hasn't already been said? Wonderful, superb, marvelous, excellent, incredible, simply the best! Can ya tell I'm a huge ShahRukh fan? Dev, Dev, Dev a frustrated jock trying to find a little happiness. I ain't mad at ya! Life's too short and precious to spend it miserable. Always take a chance on true love if you're lucky enough to find it.
Paheli (2005)
Truly Wonderful
Paheli is a beautiful, classic fairytale. If you enjoy a whimsical love story you're sure to watch Paheli again and again.
It's easy to empathize with Lachchi (Rani Mukherjee), a woman abandoned the day after her wedding. No one can fault her for wanting to love and to be loved in return. Shah Rukh Kahn is great as the workaholic spouse and simply exquisite as the endearing spirit.
The cinematography is breathtaking (It made me decide to visit India before I am no more). The costumes and songs are spectacular. Paheli is more than deserving of any Oscar. Paheli is a wonderful, truly enjoyable film that will leave you with the pleasant afterglow we wish we could get from all films.
Dil To Pagal Hai (1997)
I watch it over and over again and again
A great film! I can't get enough of it. I watch it over and over and over again and again. The songs are great! Shahrukh Khan is really marvelous as Rahul. I love watching Rahul fall helplessly in love with Pooja. Madhuri Dixit is perfect as Pooja. How can Rahul not fall in love with her? I had only watched three or four Bollywood films prior to this one but after seeing Dil To Pagal Hai my motto is Bollywood or nothing! Dear God in heaven, if you haven't seen this film you haven't seen a great love story. Rahul is a play writer and director who doesn't really believe in love or marriage. Nisha is his lead actress/dancer. The two of them have a comfortable relationship. Nisha, who is in love with Rahul, injures her ankle just weeks before the opening of Rahul's new show. Rahul finds Pooja by chance (or destiny) and quickly hires her. Just as Rahul realizes he has fallen in love with Pooja he finds out she already engaged... A great love triangle.
