Naomi's accent - ufff
29 March 2021
I checked several times that I hadn't somehow accidentally started a new season.

Why is Naomi suddenly talking with a Belter accent? She was a Belter before - a Belter with an English accent. Changing it this late in the game is making me cringe.

What a shame
7 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
It gets worse with every episode!

I get that they are trying to explore what's up with Harry, it's just really badly done. The burial thing was rubbish and didn't seem to lead anywhere. The whole crime investigation is a joke: In this episode we see the signed confession burned by the lead detective; A recorded confession thrown out of court; Jamie appeared to go directly to jail instead of police custody, without even knowing why he'd been arrested; Then he's free to go visit his wife and his ex-student by the end of the episode. Utter nonsense.

Absolute rubbish
6 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This show has gone way down hill. I am totally disengaged. I was bored halfway through the episode and willing it to end. I thought I was going to finish the season this evening, but I don't think I can bring myself to watch another episode after this utter nonsense.

The scene at Sonya's house is beyond ridiculous. Detective at the community event just leaves Jamie to smash up the hallway - uhuh! And the end scene: Detective is given a signed confession and then willingly gets buried alive, even though there isn't a weapon in sight. How did he even get in the hole with his bad back? It's so bad it's made me angry.

Also, why bother having different actors playing their younger adult selves? Jamie's younger self looks almost the same age as the lead actor!

Lacks the grip of the first episodes of seasons 1 & 2
4 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed season 1. Season 2 was also good. I really wanted to continue with those seasons after the first episode to find out why the characters had committed such serious crimes. I just don't feel the same about season 3.

The concept of The Sinner is fundamentally flawed. I really don't think any police department in the US would pay for an investigation into something that looked so much like an accident, or a "smoking gun" murder, for that matter. But it makes for good TV to have a detective striving to find the truth, with seemingly no other work to do!

I will persevere with season 3, but I feel far from gripped.

Good set up for the next season
3 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The beginning of the episode felt almost like the start of a new season. But a lot happens in the last 10 mins which is clearly setting up for the next season. I can't wait to find out what's going to happen next. And I can't believe that I think I'm actually starting to like Darlene!

"Oh no!" That's what I shouted at the TV when Wyatt and Darlene got it on. Is that even legal? 🙈 Wendy's been put in her place. And what's going on with Marty? Oooo! looking forward to finding out.

Great episode and great show

Warning: Spoilers
I started watching Ozark a week ago and am totally hooked - halfway through season 2 already! This episode was intense, and I really enjoyed it. Just a couple of things that didn't sit that well with me: Agent Petty is a bit far fetched, I can't believe the FBI would condone such behaviour. Helen the Cartel lawyer is way more hands on than I think is believable. She literally had her hands on Ruth hustling her into her room for interrogation.

The ending provided some redemption to a rubbish season

Warning: Spoilers
This episode dragged on a bit. I'm no expert, but the accelerated rate of Justin's illness, and the doctors knowing exactly when he was going to die seemed ludicrous. I liked Justin and Clay's last scene with the college application essay. The very last scene with Clay and Tony in the car was a nice touch.

Meh
8 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
A bit better than the previous episode. The first 30 mins were perfectly tolerable. Some predictable, cringeworthy and unrealistic moments at the prom: the crowd parting when Justin arrived, for one. The madness of Clay seems to be largely ignored in this episode. The season is not flowing well. Glad there's only one episode left.

Worst episode yet. The whole season has been bad. This show has become so unrealistic. The opening sequence: wtf was that!?! Dreadful.
