Damsel (2024)
What's with the bad reviews? This was a great movie!
Come on guys.... It's Millie Bobby Brown! She's an amazing actress. I'm glad to see her in a roll outside of Stranger Things that has just as much "epic-ness." There was never a dull moment throughout this whole film. It's lacking something ... a bit of depth if anything but overall very very enjoyable! It's no LOTR or The Hobbit, however, the cinematography is fantastic! I absolutely love the CGI of the dragon - it's not super fake and gives me chills - definitely a close second to Smaug! For anyone saying this is "lame," you obviously don't like fantasy, dragons, etc so maybe sit this one out instead of leaving lame reviews.
What Is a Woman? (2022)
A Woman is an adult female who from time to time needs help opening jars
Although I do prefer grabbing a blunt object such as the side of a butter knife and hit the side of the jar lid a few times to break the seal (as a bartender I do this on the daily) but that doesn't make me any less of a woman. I loved this documentary! I love that Matt's wife ultimately answered such a simple question. It's really sad that a documentary like this had to be made in the first place and it just goes to show how delusional some people are - scary that a lot of them are "professionals."
Obviously all the 1 stars are people suffering from body dysmorphia or reality dysmorphia or have some kind of mental health disorder because at no point did you see Matt absolutely terrified of the transvestites he interviewed.
A phobia is this: a persistent, excessive, unrealistic fear of an object, person, animal, activity or situation. It is a type of anxiety disorder. A person with a phobia either tries to avoid the thing that triggers the fear, or endures it with great anxiety and distress. Some phobias are very specific and limited.
People that say other people are transphobic because we don't want these insane doctors doing medical and surgical experiments on kids are wildly misinformed and need therapy.... But maybe avoid the therapist in this documentary.
Beef (2023)
Anyone dissing the soundtrack obviously isn't a 90s kid
I'm rating this 10/10 just for using the soundtrack they did - the music literally had my fiancé and I in stitches because it's all from our youth and it would come on at the most random but perfect timing. We would get along with whoever chose the soundtrack to this amazing show. It's a dark comedy/drama it's going to be silly at some points and the soundtrack lightens the mood and brings in the comedy which is so refreshing to me! Well done.
Besides the soundtrack the show itself is still really really well done and deserves the high ratings! It's a little outlandish but that's the point. I haven't finished this serious but I got triggered when someone dissed the soundtrack so here we are.
10/10 would recommend if you have a sense of humour.
Red Rose (2022)
The Hunt meets Black Mirror
Plus, it's British so even better! I love the dark, ominous cinematography of British film! Being of British decent these films hold a special place in my heart and Netflix actually came through in this one. It's a great watch with great acting! Hats off to you all! At first, my fiancé and I thought it was going in a more paranormal direction, as we went into this series completely blind (not reading reviews, etc.). It wasn't until a third of the way through did we realize it took a twist and we were slightly confused but the show ends up putting it all together quite nicely in a profound way.
Seven out of ten would recommend!
You (2018)
I loved it... but Season 3 episode 3 ... major eye roll
Why do they have to ruin shows by bringing up covid and then bringing up measles at the same time? As if the two coincide? Come on. Grow up. Yes absolutely get vaccinated for the measles because the vaccine actually works - also stop bringing covid into every good show - they did it with Superstore but that's okay because that is a comedy and they didn't outright bash anyone for taking the vaccine or not taking the vaccine like this episode of You is doing. In a round about way it seems like this episode is trying to make the covid vaccine and not taking it is just as bad as not taking a measles vaccine .... Wrong-o. I know people who have had 4 doses of the vaccine and still got sick... very sick. I know people who haven't got the vaccine and have never had covid. Can't say the same for the Measles, that's for sure! Measles and Covid are two very different viruses and have two very different vaccines. One actually works. Enough already. Stop calling people that have chosen to not get the covid vax, anti-vaxers- the majority of them actually have their childhood vaccines and believe in the vaccines that actually do work. Triggered and offended by this stupid episode.
Blockbuster (2022)
Wtf.
We were hoping for Big Bang Theory, Superstore, Brooklyn Nine Nine-type comedy... we actually had pretty high hopes.... We got about 10 minutes into the Pilot and I'm sitting there thinking "this isn't very funny or entertaining and it's poorly written" so I hopped on IMBD and sure enough... pretty bad reviews so we aren't even going to bother. Stop making this crap. It's painful. I would rather re watch Superstore for the 100,000 time... was really looking forward to something new. This comedy style is lame, boring and cringy. I was instantly annoyed with the acting, lines and overall vibe. The premise is a good idea but they butchered it.
Sins of Our Mother (2022)
Amazingly shocking and sad crime documentary
A well documented ongoing crime documentary that brought me to tears at the end. To know there are people out there in this world that are so self involved, narcissistic and completely insane is terrifying and sad- of course it alls starts with some type of trauma which is even more sad. Of course is all boils down to religious - can we just eradicate religion from this world? A lot more people would be alive today if it weren't for some type of religous belief. Heading "god" in her head and believing their screwed sense of reality.... thats called schizophrenia. Showing the course from seemingly caring mother to what happened is heart wrenching. I feel the mother was always narcissistic though, from the way she talked about herself on Wheel of Fortune you could tell she was all about herself. A very very sad case that is still ongoing as the next trial start in January.
Echoes (2022)
Nope
The acting and the lines are so poor I got about 15 minutes into the first episode and turned it off - whoever keeps writing stuff like this needs to go back to school.
Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
So poorly written it made it unwatchable
I love Jurassic Park ...... this one ruined the franchise. Every line was terrible... who wrote this? It made good actors seem terrible. The CGI was garbage the 1st one from 30 years ago looks more realistic. So cringy, Felt like we were watching a B movie. Shut it off after 30/40 minutes... could not continue. Waiting for my email from Amazon so I can request a refund lol. Everyone that had anything to do with making this movie should be ashamed of themselves.
Resident Evil (2022)
Don't be a bunch of cynics
Don't believe the 1s - this is actually a good zombie outbreak show ... if you go into it comparing it to the rest of the franchise....you're going to have a bad time... clearly from the terrible rating this does not deserve. So... don't believe the cynics and just enjoy the damn show! Deserves better than a 3.5/10. It's not a polished piece of perfection but it's not total rubbish like some would have you believe. Go into it with no expectations and wipe your mind of the games and other movies. I've never played the games so I really don't care about the "lore" or what have you and I enjoyed it.
Man vs Bee (2022)
If you love Mr. Bean and Atkinson silent comedy, this is for you!
Yes, I'm a grown a** adult and I do enjoy this type of silly, silent comedy from none other than ROWAN (not Roman guys- sheesh) Atkinson. Those who did not grow up with Mr. Bean or understand this type of comedy, jog off will ya? If you didn't laugh out loud at least once, it's because you don't appreciate Mr. Bean humour. It was such a spot on similar type of comedy especially with how they portrayed the bee being angry with Trevor, that it brought back many nostalgic memories. Don't listen to the poor reviews - most of them just don't like the humour and knowing this why watch it and leave a bad review? Canadian born of a British mother - my mum passed 7 months ago and I wish she were alive to watch with us. Thought of her the whole time and how much should would have got a kick out of it.
Hustle (2022)
Cliche, not the best ending but overall a good Adam Sandler film
Don't get me wrong, I love Adam Sandler, especially his sport movies (Longest Yard, Happy Gilmore) but I still find The Longest Yard to be the better movie with more depth and a not so predictable plot. Hustle ended so poorly I feel like it ruined the rest of the movie. There was just no depth to the ending and the story fell flat. I've seen Sandler in serious rolls before and this isn't anything to rave about like everyone seems to be doing. It was still a decent movie, had its laughs for sure! We were also very anxious for 3/4 of the movie I'm not sure if anyone else felt this way - I've watched scary movies before and was less anxious lol. Movie was very captivating I just wish they had put more effort into story ending. Even if you're not a basketball fan you'll still enjoy this movie!
Prehistoric Planet (2022)
Quite literally the best thing ever made (I LOVE dinosaurs)
If you love any of David Attenborough narrated films AND you have a love for dinosaurs you will absolutely love this masterpiece! Visually insane! I couldn't stop saying "oh my god, how?!" when it came to the graphics. Stunning. Mind blown. Love it!
The Pentaverate (2022)
If you don't understand Mike Myers Comedy, this is not for you
.... and you're missing out. The Key and Peele jokes.... The Netflix with the excess swearing... absolute goooooooooold. Classic Mike Myers. Laughed the whole way though even though it's over the top... that's the point of MM humour.
Invincible (2021)
Why are the ratings so high?
Got through 15 minutes and didn't want to watch any more.... it didn't suck me in and It was incredibly hard to watch, physically - maybe cartoon style movies just aren't for me.
The Mitchells vs the Machines (2021)
AMAZING
Loved this movie start to finish! A must watch with the family or for anyone! The animation is so cool and we loved the little details and comic book feel. Will definitely be watching this again.
Superstore (2015)
My favourite tv show
The first episode had me hooked ..... when they did the Jurassic park intro.... I laughed so hard I cried - great show, thanks for the many laughs - please keep shows like this around
Palm Springs (2020)
So funny!
This movie will make you think of all the funny/bad things you would do if this happened to you
The Witches (2020)
Sorry, not sorry buuuut........
Even though I understand this isn't a "remake" but rather another rendition of the book, after reading the majority ALL the reviews, I refuse to watch this movie as I don't want it ruining the classic for me.
The BFG (2016)
If you haven't read the book, don't leave a review, especially a negative one
Please refrain from leaving a bad review of this movie if you haven't read the book - that would be completely unfair - also this movie is obviously supposed to be watched in 3D so again, what with all the complaining about the graphics? Great movie adaptation to an awesome childhood book that probably wasn't an easy feet!
Robin Hood (2018)
Thanks to another review... I did come on here to read the one stars and thank the critics
Not only do I agree with every one star review out there, the sets looked like just that.... sets. I thought this was made in 2020 and was a bit forgiving and maybe thought they couldn't travel to sets due to Covid but then I realized this movie came out in 2018. How come every movie made after 2015 seems to be a complete disaster? This is yet ANOTHER terrible movie to add to the list of TERRIBLE movies I've seen in the last few years. Please hire some good writers who aren't trying to appease tweens and add some real affects and ditch the terrible, over the top CGI. Thank you one star reviews .... I'm glad I'm not alone.
The Croods: A New Age (2020)
What's with all the good reviews? This was awful and ruined the first one it was so bad
This was an awful sequel... everything is just overdone ..... I loved the first one .... this one is just dumb. I really don't understand the good reviews.... best movie ever? What?! I love kids movies and The first Croods is probably my most favourite of them all but this was silly and not funny at all..... thanks for ruining the first one. I feel like people are being paid to write good reviews for this movie so people are inclined to rent it for $28. Terrible. Want my money back. Another terrible movie to add to the list of terrible movies of 2020.
The Circle (2018)
This is what is wrong with society
I can't believe people are rating this above 1. I'm in my 20s and this is god awful garbage 😂 - this show depicts Everything that is wrong with social media.
V-Wars (2019)
The title .....
I can't even get past the title without cringing ...... V wars.... wtf 🤣 Gonna give it a 5, actually watch it and then re rate. I'm guessing I won't be able to get past one episode after reading reviews but I hope I'm wrong !
