Hunt Club (2022)
We've seen it all before
This movie premise adds nothing new to the hunting humans genre, but it's certainly watchable and not as ppl are saying. That being said I would highly recommend The Hunt because it's 10x better. I even liked The Furies more even though it's has incredibly low budget. Surviving The game and Ready or Not is fantastic. So take it or leave it, 🤷 you've already seen it 😂 and you've seen it much much more well done 🤦The acting is fine and there are some good kills. The opening scene grabs you right away, and the pacing is well done.... Mina Sevaris girlfriend is the star of this one and the Men are are good villains. If you have seen all the better versions of this too many times I'd say give it a go.
Evil (2019)
All good except for the 4 daughters
An intriguing mix of the X-Files meets a Crime drama. The show definitely gets better as it goes along and hits it's stride. The only thing that keeps me from rating it higher is how insufferably annoying Kristen's four daughters are. I don't know who thought it would be a good idea to have them all just shout over each other in every single scene the daughters are featured in. It's seriously horribly annoying. Other than the daughters being terribly written and acted the rest of the writing, acting and special effects are all above par for anything similar on television right now. 7/10 would be an 8.5 if they featured the daughters less or at least wrote them speaking one at a time in an inside voice 😅
Prisoners of the Ghostland (2021)
Wow what a mess
It feels like somebody had an idea of what could have been a sick movie then absolutely went with a rough draft outline without any further writing 😂...this plot was drawn on a napkin and never taken past that.
Absurd Planet (2020)
Oh No....Why Netflix?
I was actually excited for this because I absolutely love nature documentaries...but oh wow, this was painful to try to sit through. The over-the-top narrator is absolutely awful and the writing is horrendous. I love the beautiful shots of nature but the terrible jokes not even a toddler would find funny just completely make it unwatchable. If somehow this gets picked up for another season Netflix please completely change the ENTIRE show except the cinematography. This is a good idea for a show, it's just a 1/10 on execution.
Daybreak (2019)
Pick a Lane
This show really doesn't know what it wants to be...is it a comedy? (Not unless you're twelve or younger) Is it supsense or horror? (Not at all) Its a show that tries to be edgy by cussing but has no redeeming qualities as far as horror or gore which is pretty weird considering it's a TV-MA show set in a zombie apocalypse. If they didn't drop the F-Bomb it could be on the CW. Thats not the biggest problem though. You can tell it's not trying to be The Walking Dead and thats great, make a teen zombie comedy 👍 but you have to actually make it funny. I really think most of the actors do a pretty good job and I like the breking of the 4th wall bit. However, the writing is just not up to par with evrything else out right now. If this show gets a second season I suggest they reconsider if they are trying desperately to pander to the small market of 8-12 yr olds or shift to a wider audience.
The Evil in Us (2016)
Don't believe the H8
I really enjoyed this movie and felt compelled to write this amongst the negative reviews. This movie was very well done and never felt like a syfi channel original. I thought the actors did a pretty good job (especially when the s#!& hits the fan.) while some said the characters were completely unlikable and the viewer doesn't care about their fate, I say only true of a few of them however that's ALWAYS the case with these types of flicks. The premise is somewhat unoriginal ( kids, remote cabin, blah blah blah) however the rest is pretty damn original or at least hasn't been beat to death. At 90 mins it doesn't feel drawn out building tension especially with 3 story lines happening simultaneously. There are some legit scares that you actually don't always see coming along with a pretty hefty amount of legit gore. With zombiesque movies pretty much being carbon copies most of the time I actually found something fresh here. Glad I didn't avoid it due to low rating and bad reviews, its 100% worth 90 mins and I say for sure give it a chance.
