Horrible
4 April 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I want to ask a very simple question, why does Hollywood go for remakes? If you ask me, I think there are two reasons. First, imagination and creativity are nearly depleted. It is very difficult to come up with new ideas. Second,MONEY. Producers want it easily and quickly. What would be better than taking an already created movie, adding some new effects (thanks to modern technology), manipulating the plot or adding subplots (ideas that are rarely good) and in horror movies specifically, adding more screams and gore, which is exactly the case with Black Christmas. The original Black Christmas was a class A horror movie in my opinion. Of course it had some problems with the plot and acting, but the originality of the movie outbalances this. I mean, this movie set standards for later films like Halloween and Friday the 13th. It didn't depend on gore that much, it rather depended on the depth and complexity of the situation of being in a house with a serial killer without knowing it. The killings were few, but the film was still eerie and scary. As for the remake, I would describe it in one word "LAME". It has too many killings. It is too fast paced which leaves no room for depth or audience involvement (I bet that the whole thing can be shot in one or two days). The main plot is fragile (can anyone believe you can escape a sanitarium that easily?). Despite all of this, I was willing to forgive this movie for wasting my time and I would have given it a 4 or 5 out of 10 EXCEPT that the last 10 or 15 minutes were a joke in every sense of the word. The whole hospital thing was a disaster. What are the chances that a killer found on the crime scene by the police go to the morgue without being checked whether dead or not? Come on, what on earth is that? Again, very lame to say the least. The ending in no way compares to the original one. Black Christmas (2006) is a cheap horror flick that unfortunately holds the name of a horror classic. Shame on you Hollywood for tarnishing the beautiful images we have of our horror legacy.

Twisted + Clever + Morbid = TCM
28 March 2007
Warning: Spoilers
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (TCM): The Beginning is one of the BEST horror movies out there. The acting is very good, especially Bomer and Baird who were amazing, which is something odd in the horror genre. Needless to say, the HEWITTS family were brilliant as usual. The movie is extremely dark and psychotic. After you finish watching it, you will definitely feel stomach and heart aches. But this just shows that the director and all the crew did their job right. I don't know why this movie is sooooo underrated? 5.7 out of 10, c'mon people. Why is there this tendency to give new remakes bad votes? It is true that quite a lot of remakes s*ck, but that doesn't mean we lose our objectivity. I am actually very pleased with the way this film turned out and I am glad some people still make these TRUE horror movies. Finally, I would like to add that I am quite fond of the new trend in horror movies where all characters die, even the ones who were the nicest or the cutest or who survived till the end. First, it gives one a shock (If you think you know the ending, you are wrong !). Second, it is closer to reality. Sorry but good things don't always happen to good people. Having said that I gave the movie a 9.

Extremely disappointing
11 January 2007
First of all, I can't consider this movie a real "MOVIE". The storyline is very fragile (c'mon, a fighting contest on an island sure rings "Mortal Kombat" bell), the acting is horrible, the sounds are awkward and the fight scenes are actually FUNNY. I cannot believe someone said the scenes were good. I mean, the actors have well built bodies but my god the moves they do barely connect to their opponents. One can see very clearly that the fists and feet actually hit the air!!! What a lame performance to say the least. Also, what was the actual role of the chick in the team? I believe it was only to add some spice to the original recipe of low budget low quality action flicks. Avoid watching at any cost if you want to watch good real action movies, but you can watch it if you want to have fun with friends laughing at the terrible acting and fight scenes.

Love it but....
1 January 2007
I love this show. The acting is pretty good. The story lines are very interesting. When I first saw this show, I immediately fell in love with it. It is fun and has a mystery twist to it which just adds to the whole goodness of the series. However, there is only one problem with this how, EXXAGERATION. I know it is common that TV series contain somehow unrealistic or uncommon plots or twists, but this show sometimes takes it too far. There are some incidents that are just too strange. The rate by which people die in this show is completely unrealistic. Also, when people die, others seem to forget about them so fast as if they didn't exist. This is not life in the suburbs. People just don't die so frequently and so morbidly. Often I feel that Marc Cherry is stuck with the fates of some characters and so he gets rid of them by sentencing them to death. Other than this problem, the show is hilarious.

Tomb Raider: Legend (2006 Video Game)

just GREAT!!
30 April 2006
One of the best if not the best tombraider games. I actually like the whole series but this game takes the cake. The animation is so smooth and fantastic. New moves are added which help create a realistic feeling. Stages are very well designed and sound effects are stunning. The whole idea of cinematic cuts where the player intervenes to save lara is amazing. Only two things I didn't really like about this game, first it's a bit short, second lara can only hold one weapon in addition to the pistols and grenades. However, it's must buy for all TombRaider fans , God I love this game, Way to go crystal dynamics because you did a great job, Keep it up :)

House of Wax (2005)
Sit back and relax- Don't watch "House Of Wax"!
17 July 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I have just watched "House of Wax" and I certainly didn't relax. I totally disliked the film. Why? First off, while watching, I strongly felt that this film mimics "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". Instead of leather face, there's wax face (both are psychos). Instead of friends stranded while going to a concert, there are friends stranded while going to a sport game. Instead of friends entering a house and being ambushed by leather face, guess what? There are friends who enter a wax museum and are ambushed by wax face who even looks like leather face. I haven't watched the older version, and if it's the same exact plot with the previous details, then it would be "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" that mimicked "House of Wax". There's nothing unique about this film whether acting (come on, Paris Hilton!), filming or storyline. Nevertheless, I liked the music.I give this film 5/10.

Halloween (1978)

The greatest horror/thriller movie ever made
13 June 2005
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is a horror masterpiece. I liked watching it very much. The really nice thing about this movie is that it depends to a great extent on suspense rather than gore especially in the first 60 minutes. The theme is perfect and has been imitated many times. The screenplay is good and is in fact one of the few horror screenplays that respects the viewer in the sense that it's tight and follows logical sequences into a climax. It's one of the few horror movies that can really bring about some chills across one's spine. The music is fantastic and adds even more suspense to the movie. In my opinion, this is the best part in all of the Halloween sequels. It isn't an ordinary horror flick, it's a must see for any horror movies fan .
