The Strain (2014)
Only watchable for 3 seasons. KILL THE KID
This show started off well. I am definitely NOT a vampire show person and I enjoyed it immensely... "enjoyed". Only watch it until season 3 because season 4 is so horrific I've been watching it at 1.3x speed. I got 5 minutes into S04E05 and said screw this I'd rather go clean the bathroom with a toothbrush. If I had to rate the seasons it would go 9, 8, 8, 3. It's like all the writers quit or something. Then they let the ultra annoying, lousy acting, pile of crap kid write the rest!?! Oh yeah... the kid will probably be enough to make a lot of you quit watching before you even make through season 3 :[ I wish we could rate actors on IMDb.
The Last Ship (2014)
Another American show that haters in trash holes like India won't like.
If you're a pathetic loser like DBLurker from Delhi, India you will undoubtedly hate this show. If you want to make a show that glorifies your pathetic country go ahead and do it yourself. Nobody is forcing you to watch this one. In an Indian writer's racist mind America would be wiped out first and would have to beg North Korea for help. Nice fantasy dude :]
Dekalog (1989)
Don't waste your time unless you're trying to impress someone.
I tried. But these are just boring, and utterly lacking in entertainment value. I could only get through 1,2 and 6. I'd had enough after 1 and 2, then tried to be fair by watching the highest rated 6. I rated them a 1,2, and 3 respectively.
The people that rave about this series are laughable. Who cares about clever subtlety's and mind tricks if the stories are trash? I'm not watching a movie in Sunday school or taking an advanced film class. What I want most is a good story. And this series surely does not deliver that in the slightest.
So go ahead and call me names from behind your bible or atop your high horse. At least I'm not the one eating a spectacularly designed turd sandwich.
Fences (2016)
The most useless film of the year.
I'll skip right to the only decent part of this movie - I didn't have to pay for it. It's too bad that the story was boring and predictable as can be, because I like Denzel and Viola.
You've got a black guy in the 50's who is angry he never got to play major league baseball(Denzel) - even though he was a career robber and murderer. He's got a brain damaged brother who didn't get enough benefits after head trauma in WWII. A housewife who's nose gushes snot like a fire hydrant when she cries(Viola). And a high school age son who is being recruited by colleges due to his football prowess. By the end of this Sanford and Son episode the self centered liar Denzel has 3 kids with 3 different women, and he keeps his son from going to college. Add a bunch of drinking, a little child abuse, and the n-word about 45,00 times and you've got the perfect movie for "affirmative action academy awards year". Pathetic.
Moonlight (2016)
Black Oscar year top pick
Boo hoo I'm black. Boo hoo I'm gay. Welcome to the we're sorry for no black Oscar nominees make up year. It was actually pretty decent. The acting was really good in fact. But it in NO WAY deserved to even be nominated. More propaganda designed to make gay more normal. The whole story was "I'm black so I don't have a dad, and I'm gay so feel sorry for me." Sorry....nope.
Everybody Wants Some!! (2016)
Horrifically boring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Horrifically boring is an understatement. I have no idea what the writers/producers/director were trying to prove. But if they were going for drying cement, they won! This was 2 hours of waiting for something to happen that never happened. We literally giggled a few times and that is it! The end was the worst. I wanted to run outside and jump of my balcony! There was no story. No plot. No action. No anything! The writers and producer should kill themselves. I have no idea why is was set in 1980? The only good thing was the soundtrack. If you liked Dazed and Confused DO NOT WATCH THIS... you will be absurdly disappointed! I agree with the reviews that say they hired people to give good reviews early so everyone would watch!
Secret in Their Eyes (2015)
Underrated sleeper!
To all the reviewers out there whining because they think this movie somehow takes away from the 2009 Spanish language film - get a life. This film is this film. And it happens to be a very good one. Nobody cares about some other movie from 6 years before. Go write a review for that movie.
I wasn't expecting too much given the ratings this had received. I was pleasantly surprised though. The acting was good. Nobody was miscast. The story was very compelling and well played out. And the end was just wow! Now I know all it's ratings are artificially lowered by haters.
So if a very well made, emotional crime drama with great actors sounds like something you'd be interested in. Do yourself a favor and watch this.
Amy (2015)
Unless you already love her, don't bother.
Booooooring. If you know anything about life this story will be a waste of time. I had only heard about Amy from the news while she was alive, and especially when she died. Then the movie came out. I thought, no thanks. Then it won an Oscar. So I thought I should at least give it a try. I am sickened that it won. Every other movie in the category was vastly better. All they did was piece clips together and retell the tabloid story. The oldest story in the world. They should have just called it Daddy Problems. Yes, she did a great job copying an age old art from across the pond. She lucked out because people thought it was super cool she could make that sound and be white. LOL.
Tomorrowland (2015)
Disappointed. No plot. Bad casting.
I was looking forward to this movie even though it was PG. I mean, who's better at making PG films that everyone can enjoy right? Well, not any more.
I must admit the move was aesthetically pleasing due to it's huge budget; but that's about it. There was nothing new that we all haven't seem in other movies.
My biggest criticism is that nothing happened in this 2hr movie. We just have 3 characters jumping around between dimensions and time, all the while not accomplishing anything except conveying a continued sense of hope... I guess.
The casting was odd as well. Do you think Walt(who wouldn't let Annette wear a bikini) would approve of a leading woman who's previous movie was about a disturbed underage girl who has sex(full nudity) with older men? Oops.
Vendetta (2015)
If you like WWE you will like this.
I haven't watched pro/fake wrestling since I was a child, so this movie was blah at best. It was completely unbelievable in almost every aspect.
I must say that Dean Cain actually did a good job acting though. Too bad there was nothing else worthy. This review requires no spoiler alert because you already know everything that is going to happen :]
If you like to make a drinking game out of scrutinizing movies for their errors, make sure you have plenty to drink! But watch out because there are actually some very gory scenes for a B action movie.
I did give it a 5 because it was kind of entertaining - I didn't feel the need to stop watching. To sum it up... If you really like WWE you will really like this. You'll probably like it if your IQ is below 100 as well.
Mononoke-hime (1997)
There is absolutely nothing special about this movie!
How this made it to #71 of the top 250 is beyond me. I don't have anything against any kind of animation. I don't dislike Japan. I don't dislike any of the voice overs. I don't think I had ever heard of it until I saw it in the top 250 list the other day. I thought it was going to be mind blowing given all the accolades and rating. In the great words of Ron White: "I was wrong!". It was the most pathetically average thing ever. Boooring story. Waay to long. Average animation. It has all the stereotypical characters one would expect to find in a much older American cartoon making fun of Japanese stories... right down to Japanese sambo. Completely predictable. Not something you'd want your kids to see, and something your adult friends would scoff at. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. A 30 minute Family Guy remake would put this to shame. I would have given it a 3; but feel it is my civic duty to make the rating less misleading.
Left Behind (2014)
The most horribly made movie I've see all year!
The acting, screenplay, effects, and reality factor are literally embarrassing in this movie! I watched it by myself at home and still felt embarrassed! I really wanted to stop; but kept thinking something exciting has to happen so I ended up watching it in 1.5x speed! What on earth is wrong with you Nicholas?!? DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME... even if you're watching it for the religion(no matter what side you're on)!!!!! Every single aspect was simply atrocious! Someone with a lot of time on their hands needs to do a "what's wrong with Left Behind" video for YouTube! The astounding amount of errors will simply blow your mind! And it is slow as molasses! If I never see another Nick Cage movie it will be too soon!!!
