The genius is in the social commentary, not the plot
18 December 2020
Until recently, the last time I watched this movie in its entirety was just after finishing high school. Seven years later, I watched it again and I realized there's barely any overall plot in this movie, but it is full of individually amazing scenes with overlapping characters. It's a style somewhat reminiscent of Monty Python. Almost every scene is a goldmine of quotes, many of which I'll find myself repeating until the day I did. It has a great balance of in-your-face comedy mixed with subtle quick witty humor. It's not a story-driven film, which is understandably a turn-off for many. But the social commentary is golden. You get the petty squabbles between rich, out of touch, country club elites contrasted with the lives of the caddies and staff who make the place run while just trying to get by.

Everything you could want from a Star Wars movie

Only reason I didn't give this a 10 was because the beginning felt very rushed. Other than that, it just kept giving and giving.

Nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

What a fun little movie with a creative structure. It has a few tired tropes, but what rom-com doesn't? It's a cute, enjoyable comedy about love and weddings, and it doesn't need to be anything more than that.

Nonstop Fun that helps tie the MCU together

Captain Marvel was everything you could ask for in a superhero film. Action, comedy, emotion - it has it all. While a little preachy in a few parts, it ultimately carries the spirit that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has built for over a decade now.

It delivers what it promises
21 June 2017
I have to be fair, this movie isn't good enough to justify a 10. But people need to get off their high horses and judge these movies fairly. It's a movie about robots that transform into cars based on a cartoon from the 80's that originally existed only to sell action figures. You have to take the stick out of your butt and appreciate it for what it is. This movie delivers exactly what it promises: nonstop action and fun.

My biggest critique is that the middle of the movie dragged on a little bit longer than it needed to. There really is not much to complain about beyond that.

It was epic, fun, visually appealing, and it tied things together well. It didn't feel as detached from the rest of the franchise as the fourth one did. Also, John Goodman as Hound was absolutely fantastic, as he was in the previous installment.

Watch this movie with an open mind, don't seek to pick it apart for every little thing, and enjoy the ride.
