Star Trek: Voyager: Nemesis (1997)
Season 4, Episode 4
10/10
Outstanding episode.
22 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this episode in many ways. Chakotay gets shot down in a planet with war going on. An engaging story about war and construction of an enemy that feels very contemporary. Robert Beltran does a great performance as a conflicted Chakotay that once inmerse into war began to change his thoughs about his involment in it that clearly was not him´s. Of course, you see ordinary people under vicous attacked by horrible creatures, even vengeance is a must. On the other side Captain Janeway get help from planet´s authorities to rescue Chakotay. The twisted ending with Chakotay last words to the Captain makes it to consider this episode among the best.

Really?
7 May 2017
I just watched first 10 minutes and stopped. This movie looks like done by bad cinema students. Long passages and serious continuity problems, like the woman driving her car in a perfect road while talking to her daughter and suddenly a bump and a flat. Now the car is in a long dirt road.

Star Trek technology that beamed the car from asphalt road to a dirt road instantly? I do not know.

Argentina had made great movies but not this one. Sorry.

Star Trek: Voyager: Threshold (1996)

Not the best but I like it
18 April 2017
Thanks to Netflix I watched this episode for the first time several years after first aired on TV and found quite interesting and entertaining, not as bad as many say. The general idea is good, it is clear its execution problem, difficult to solve in an episode with a happy ending and probably the state of evolution of TV at the time it was done, too.

I appreciate when writers try to brake a barrier away from the comfort zone and not give all the answers.

As fiction, entertaining. Unfortunately it was announced as a true story.
24 February 2017
When it was announced the release of this film, it was an interesting proposal from the Argentine side because little or nothing of that time except the film "Los Chicos de la Guerra" based on the book of the same name with accounts of conscripted soldiers that fought in the war. "Blessed by Fire" was intended to do the same based on the story of an Argentinian soldier. Comrades of the Author loudly said that events portrayed in this movie are not true to what actually happened. Further, they said the author never was in battle and managed to replace his guard post by another soldier named Vallejos who dies that same night in the hands of the enemy. Of The South Atlantic War there are few films but what is regrettable is that this one was made with public funds and distorts real facts , showing how cowardly those who really were not is almost an act of treason promoted with taxpayer money. On the other hand, the British have made several films that tried to reflect what happened in those years, altering some facts as shown at the governor's house in "An Ungentlemanly Act to enhance the action of the Royal Marines but never altering facts to altered them fully. Another movie "Tumbledown" based on the history of the British Lieutenant Robert Lawrence is an excellent choice if you are looking for a film based on true facts and shows the real consequences of war delivering an universal message, it is safe to say that was highly criticized in Britain precisely not to glorify war and carried out by the BBC. Conclusion on "Blessed by Fire": Film to forget. I am still waiting a film from Argentina that portraits heroes and cowards but based on real accounts.

Doctor Who: The Waters of Mars (2009)
Season Unknown, Episode Unknown
Pushing the envelope...
17 February 2015
I like this episode as one that tries to break new grounds in the established Doctor Who series, getting out of the comfort zone. Here we see the Doctor in another episode flying solo and how this affects his judgment without an opposite like Donna. The companion always challenges some critical decisions of the Doctor. The episode ending shows that and how this might affect his future. It is clear special effects and sets have improved a lot through seasons and this episode has a cinema film feeling in its execution. The enemy here is really scary and not always when visible. Acting is excellent and Mr Tennant shows very well Doctor's conflict at the end. Can't wait to watch next episode.

UFO: The Cat with Ten Lives (1970)
Season 1, Episode 3
9/10
Love it.
14 July 2013
This episode is interesting for several reasons. First the story moves forward, we learn that the aliens may not have physical form and use human bodies as "vessels" in order to be able to travel, refuting the initial theory that they were captured to replace organs. Secondly, we see greater involvement of the staff of Shado, especially their pilots, among them, the pilot interpreted by playwright Steven Berkoff. Third, we see more work of Derek Meddings, with new scenes and details of the interceptors. Forth, filmography and editing achieved an episode agile and keep us alert to what is to come. I was impressed as a kid by this episode, the idea of a cat managing an individual, i thought it was creative and sinister at the same time, including the battle of Foster and Reagan. I will not tell the ending but is what I always liked of the golden age of the British TV, no demagogy.

Space: 1999: Another Time, Another Place (1975)
Season 1, Episode 16
One of the best Episodes
20 July 2011
The Alphans enters a parallel universe and believe the "unknown force" took them back home. Commander Koenig finds that hard to believe and when they were ready to accept it another mystery arises and the existence of the Alphans and Moonbase itself is put on the line. Alphans had to deal with an earth that is not their home as they expected, with few human population. They do not welcome them either. Finally they have to make a tough decision if they want to survive. There is an amusing moment when a Main Mission operative (Paul) can be seen briefly using his commlock as a computer punching buttons frenetically, when I watched it the first time as a kid I found it unbelievably to use such a tiny device as a computer. Today is common to see people punching buttons frenetically in their smartphones. The episode arise again the concept of a God or Force that guide their destiny like in Black Sun and have good performances from the cast, specially Victor Bergman (Barry Morse). Great dialogue and good ending.

Space: 1999: Dragon's Domain (1975)
Season 1, Episode 8
10/10
Very good episode
19 July 2011
I usually evaluate an episode knowing when it was done and technology available so I can understand how much effort was done to film the episode. Space came out in time where TV was not used to quality productions and always a happy ending. Dragon's domain was one of the scariest episode I watched along with the ending of Force of life. The monster -for its time and costs - was beautifully done and you see even when it excrete its victims. It is "Alien" in Space 1999. As for the story we see human drama in this episode, something that Space was criticized for not caring too much. This show was contemporary with 6 million dollar man, bionic woman, wonder woman, etc..

I like it!

The movie is a nice addition to BSG Universe and tells the story from the Cylon part, which answers some mysteries that rise along the series. (Ie. what happened to Six after accusing Baltar of sabotage).

With the BSG sets gone, it would be nice to move the story forward, like EJO commented in an interview. The task of setting in a new earth, the encounter of an advanced civilization vs primitive one. If done with same care and level of the re-imagined BSG, would be great.

It is good to have followed the series through all seasons and coming to its closure on its own terms. Thanks to the crew of for a wonderful job. So say we all.

Battlestar Galactica: The Oath (2009)
Season 4, Episode 13

Very well done and very real
2 November 2009
When a society loses hope and sense of a good future, society collapses. The social structure becomes empty and the sense of order is gone. It happened in the past and I can give a "live example". Argentina went under a crisis in 2001 and today there is no real sense of order since everything was seriously affected, politics and the economy. The Argentina society accepted whatever made feel better by politicians after the crisis , not meaning it was good in the long term. The "mutiny" in 2001 was done by its own political class because the economics were bad and not believed the presidency. So if you put a bunch of people in an extreme situation like this episode portraits with no hope(the earth is gone) and disbelief, mutiny is likely to happen.

I love the car, that's all
9 January 2006
The movie is good entertainment. Unfourtunately, it changes some premises from the original series that was targeted to family audiences. This movie is a different animal targeted to adult audiences. Well... time changes I guess, the producers wanted more "realistic" characters so we hear some lines with references to sex and some unusual scenes not expected in the series.

On the positive side, chases are good and the old General Lee is back. I recall that by the end of the original series, there was not enough money for great chases or stunts with the car. This movie rocks on this department.

So, I say if you are not too "religious" to the original concept and you are open minded it's OK to watch. Otherwise I suggest to watch the original series only.

I stay with the original series.
