Are there any dinosaurs in this dinosaur movie ?
After watching this movie my first thought was of Jeff Goldblum in the original Jurassic Park movie commenting on the Lack of dinosaurs on the dinosaur tour. The film starts with a flimsy family story which basically seems to say that Adam Driver has to go on a 2 year mission to pay for life saving treatment for his daughter. The purpose of this mission is never explained. The mission is only 2 years so why everyone apart from the pilot is in the cryogenic freezer seems strange, you would have thought on only a 2 year mission at least 2 people would be awake so that someone would be awake in time to spot a massive asteroid field in front of them.
Anyway they crash on Earth 65 million years ago as luck would have just before the asteroid that wipes out the dinosaurs, when your lucks out it's out !
As luck would have it an escape vehicle has survived about 15 kilometres away ! So our pilot and 1 young survivor plot their way to the lifeboat. They encounter a few dinosaurs on the way but not too many. The landscape looks more like Epping Forrest than prehistoric North America. I gave this movie 4/10 based on when you do finally see some beasts the CGI is very good.
The ending is very predictable they escape with the help of a T- Rex seconds before the extinction level event !
I love dinosaur movies but won't be watching this again anytime soon.
Moonfall (2022)
How Many Brian's............
Really looked forward to this, the idea behind the movie was quite original but it's just a mish mash of everything that's gone before. A lot of CGI at night (Godzilla 1998 same Director) Tidal waves, meteors hitting the ground ( 2012) famous landmarks lifted up and dropped elsewhere ( Independence Day resurgence) and even the Sarah Harding how many Sarah's gag from Jurassic Park the lost world is dug up and used on the main character whilst on the Moon, character development is non existent. I gave it 4 out of 10 because at least Sam from game of thrones seemed to be trying although if he was such a genius why is he working at a drive thru takeaway?
Deadlock (2021)
Deadloss
My review contains spoilers. But don't worry there is nothing to spoil here, I've given it 2 stars because I did watch it till the end, this film makes no sense, a man is killed by mistake by police so his dad hijacks a dam with 20+ mercenaries to reap his revenge REALLY, what's in it for the mercenaries who all die with rediculous ease ?
Our Hero would have killed more baddies but the movie didn't have the budget of John Wick. You have to ask yourself when was the last time Bruce Willis actually made anything good. Please Bruce you can't be short of a few quid just wait for the occasional decent part. Clint Eastwood is still going in his 90s.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Put that in your pipe and smoke it Marvel universe
Wow what more do you want in a movie ? Great action extremely funny, great characters and the weasel Wow !!
Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (2021)
Is it wrong to laugh at so many people being Killed ?
Had a blast watching this movie a cocktail of John Wick, Kickass and Johnny English rolled into one. I'm sorry if I'm easily pleased but Sam Jackson's facial expressions and profanity had me in stitches. I wouldn't like to guess how many people die but it's a lot and quite a few are amusing. Ryan Reynolds plays the reluctant hero with his usual quick wit and Salma Hayek is great as the psychotic Wife, make sure you watch right till the end of the credits for one final great gag.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
SO WHAT IF ........?
I really enjoyed this movie and the time flew by it would have been a 10 but I felt the ending was a little rushed.
The action sequences are excellent and obviously pay homage to other movies of the genre.
I can see why some reviews pick holes in the plot but it didn't bother me in fact a couple of ideas I thought were really clever, the action more than compensates in my opinion.
Chris Pratt is as reliable as ever although big fans of his like I am will find his performance a little more serious than his usual.
Look Fast 9 was nuts and I really enjoyed that too... !...put your feet up and have fun !
F9 (2021)
A delight for franchise fans
I'm a big fan of the franchise and have see the rest of the movies more than once, I can't understand the reviews 1,2,3 out of 10 these people are not true fans.
As usual this movie does exactly what it says on the tin. Ridiculously improbable stunts, baffling new technology and great interaction within the cast with Roman and Tej having me in stitches as usual. Is it the best of the franchise no, it has certainly lost a bit without Hobbs and Shaw but a great reintroduction to cinema after such a long time.
Boss Level (2020)
Groundhog Day on steroids
I really enjoyed this a very clever reimagining of the reoccurring day movie. The lead character is given scope to find an infinite number of ways to be killed and I particularly liked instead of piano lessons our hero takes Sword fighting lessons. The interaction between the main characters is good and Mel Gibson makes a good baddie. I would have given it a 9 but I found the ending a little underwhelming maybe the have left it like that for a potential sequel.
SAS: Red Notice (2021)
Under siege 2 for 6 year olds
The way sky have been bigging it up the last few days I should have known it would be crap. Totally disjointed nonsense, one of those films you watch hoping it will improve but never does. Even the rubbish Steven Seagal has turned out recently is Oscar worthy compaired to this tripe.
Avoid
Unhinged (2020)
A thrill ride to Crowe about !
So when you collide Duel and Falling Down you
end up with Fast paced thriller that Keeps you on the edge of your seat. Ignore all the negative reviews yes the plot is full of holes and you will be screaming at the screen for the main characters to do things differently, there is non stop carnage for the last hour which is great fun. Russell Crowe is great as the deranged bad guy looking like he's really piled on the pounds, it reminded me of Stallone in Copland. It won't win any awards but it's definitely the sort of movie I'd happily watch again sometime. Go into it with low expectations and you'll be pleasantly surprised
Hunters (2020)
Gripping reminder of a story that should never be forgotten
Great story, great acting, both good and evil are very believable which makes a change from wooden bad guys. Left on a knife edge which could go any number of ways. This is not propaganda it is a fictional account of Horrors that should never be forgotten, watch for yourself make your own mind up, what is witnessed is very tame compared to the reality
The Goes Wrong Show (2019)
Refreshingly different
I have just watched the 4th instalment and think it is the most original, clever and funny thing to hit the BBC in years. The comic timing is superb, the art of pretending to try and get something right while obviously getting it wrong is a very difficult skill. The episode set in world war 2 (1961) had me in tears. In the latest episode the lodge there is a scene between the main character and a face in the wall that Abbot and Costello would have been proud of. Ignore the haters it's great.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
What's wrong with a bit of Schmaltz ?
Loved it, too many reviews say that it's heavy on the Schmaltz well if it is a bit so what, true fans will love it and make an emotional connection like I did, I watched a new hope at the cinema in 1977 and felt without giving anything away it was a fitting end to the saga THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE
