Muqaddar Ka Sikandar (1978)
I love Amitabh Bachchan! He is indeed a Sikandar.
I love this movie for so many reasons, first and foremost for Amitabh Bachchan. How can anybody not fall in love with him?, then for the story- It's been portrayed very well, it touches every right chord of your heart. The movie and some amazing scenes resonate with you long after you have watched the movie and finall all songs. I love the sikandar drunkard scene outside his house, I love to listen to all the songs, but definitely love to watch one song in particular which is salaame ishq. There you see dual magic of Kishore Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan. The end is of course my favorite.
I particularly want to appreciate the writer-director for the way they handled Amitabh's reaction when he learns of VK and Rakhee's love. Anybody would obviously feel betrayed and wounded.. so he kills VK but only subconsciously to realize later that it was never VK's fault. Then he goes to Rekha to console his feelings and when he gets defeated there too. He comes back to do the only thing he can and should which is to let go off the illusion of ever marrying Rakhee and have VK and Rakhee marry instead.
Over all this is yet another feather on Amitabh's well deserved victory hat.
Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007)
Amitabh blows your mind
It's a fast gripping movie with brilliant performances.
Both Sanjay Dutt and Vivek Oberoi slip into their roles perfectly as if they were born for it.Loved Sanjay's style.
The last 30 to 40 minutes of the movie is the soul of the movie. It is very well executed. You find yourself in dilemma of with who your sympathies lie, good guys or bad guys, and for me that is well achieved result for the director.
What I absolutely hated in the movie are songs, they are just boring with a capital B. However the screenplay and every actors performances make up for it.
I am absolutely giving the extra 1 point for Amitabh. He has a very little role but very impactful. I simply loved his attitude, confidence, sarcasm and authority he interrogated the policemen with.
Satyagraha (2013)
Amitabh at his best - AGAIN!
I read reviews and I agree with both kind of review. Yes the Subject of the movie was very good but the script was underdeveloped. And the direction and screenplay could have been better. However the movie is still worth watching. It has few amazing moments ad plots - Amitabh's hatred towards corruption & money minded people. Ajay's love for his friend, Amitabh embracing Ajay as his son and the best, Amitabh and Manoj's confrontation; and Amitabh's plea to people to not confront police force.
The top 3 perfomers obviously are Amitabh, Manoj and Ajay. Of course Amitabh outshines in every scene. His every scene is better then the previous. His break down moments are beyond brilliance. What this man is capable of is beyond description.
Sadma (1983)
A Master Piece
"Do not watch this movie, you would be distraught for days" is what I told my sister in law when she watched this movie.
The writer deserves all accolades for writing such a heart touching script and the director for making so realistically. The climax is so non cliché, it just hits the rights chords.
Kamal haasan is absolute genius, how wonderfully he has performed. Sridevi is as always great.
The movie takes you through a journey of two people, how they come together and how they affect each other's lives.
I am giving away all ten for the climax of this movie. It really is that good.
Yudh (2014)
Yudh - A Desperately Needed Refreshing Show on Indian Television
Who better to get the desperately needed change on Indian TV amidst loony Saans-bahu shows, than Amitabh Bachchan himself.
Although the series begins with a slow pace, it quickly engrosses its viewers in fast gripping, puzzle like thriller drama.
I have never witnessed a better casting on TV than Yudh's Cast. Every single person on show makes their role believable to the T. No over the top acting, No excess make up, no 'you must be kidding me' expressions.
A special mention to Mona Wasu, Aahana Kumra and Zakir Hussain, perfect choice and they deliver great performances.
And this comes as no surprise that Amitabh Bachchan excels once again, as he said in one of the episodes ' unless you don't challenge yourself, set new targets/tasks you can't change the Game. Amitabh Bachchan is indeed a Game Changer.
I must warn you that once you have started watching YUDH it's hard to pause. You want to go on to unveil the mystery.
Watch it for it's amazing plot line, for it's perfect direction, outstanding performances. Most of all watch it to see why Amitabh is and will always be the Legend.
