La Ley secreta (2018)
Excellent story with well-drawn characters...
I'm not a native Spanish speaker, but I have been watching one telenovela after another, using subtitles. Even so, they have all been very good and I can't stop! The acting in this particular series is really good, and the character's are all interesting. The overall story is great with three different plots, all interwoven into a bigger picture. I really enjoyed every minute, and in fact, would watch it again.
The Gentlemen (2019)
Old School Guy Ritchie
Harking back to films like Rock 'n Rolla, Lock, Stock and two Smoking Barrells, and Snatch, Guy Richie has come back to the movie style that we all love. The Gentlemen has stars, a well-witten script, and the snarky, sideways humor we have come to expect from a Guy Ritchie film. Getting back to his roots is the smartest thing he did since divorcing Madonna.
You will stay interested and laugh inside and outside.
Perpetual Grace, LTD (2019)
Intelligent, very dark fun...
I just read that.we aren't getting a season two, but a limited wrap up for this show. I'm so sad! Just like Patriot, another Steve Conrad excellent dark comedy, we lose.
Not only is the series hilarious, but the cinematography is just gorgeous!
Great acting, great script, a few Patriot Easter eggs, and a truly wonderful series. I have already watched it twice, and will no doubt watch again and again to pick up the nuances that were missed.
Travesty. Heartbroken.
Patriot (2015)
Hilarious!
This is the kind of clever writing that makes a comedy great. Characters you can be interested in, lots of great banter, and even the music made by the main character is funny, when it could be corny. Good acting, too. It's a definite 10 for me.
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998)
A Guy Ritchie Classic Farce
Guy Ritchie's direction used to be spot on fun. In this film, a gambler runs up a debt with ty he worst sort and he & his crew need to find a way to repay it. Their machinations and the antics of the other men in this film touch on slapstick, underlaid with some killer, quick diogue. This is vintage Ritchie.
It's only a 9 because some of the British accents make it important for the untrained ear to pay very close attention. And I say vintage Ritchie snice his last King Arthur legend film was such a disappointment.
However, this film, Snatch, and Rock n Rolla are a truly fun trilogy and so worth the time spent watching. Binge all three.
The Good Doctor (2017)
Surprised
I wasn't sure I'd like this show, but Freddy Highmore's performance is just brilliant. The show is interesting, funny at times, and heartwarming. Totally worth watching.
