Heavyweights (1995)
One of the best 90s films of the decade like The Mighty Ducks films have been
This film was one of the best films to watch as a kid when it first aired or when ever it was on Disney Channel as a kid, back when Disney Channel wasn't horrible, I'd say in the 90s and all the way up till 2004 was when Disney Channel would have this come on there more frequently and when Disney Channel wasn't horrible.
But anyway, always loved this film as a kid, it had plenty of humor, it was funny, it had a little drama into the mix. When ever Tony Perkis told the kids when he was their age, he weight 319 pounds and how he felt himself and how he felt back than, makes you wonder how he lost all that weight in the beginning. There is a bit of a mystery I wondered about, how to Tony become the crazy person he showed to be in the film because they showed his father on there and he seemed complete normal and a rational human being, yet when he said his son was always a bit of an odd child and that his parents never hugged him and he isn't going crazy about it, sort of makes you wonder what kind of a relationship did Tony and his dad have? But my guess was maybe he just wasn't around very much or while he was busy with work, his son was home schooled and raised by nannies or butlers or something, but we'll probably never know.
But as the film kept going and how it kept the story and plot line going, I actually loved it. I sort of forgotten what Kenan Thompson looked like when he was a kid or first started out in his career at one point but he sure has changed over the years, yet he could live to be a really old man and I'd still recognize his face and the familiar sound of his voice too, yet he's still funny.
Although, even when the star child character was going to a fat camp and he at first liked the idea but once he found out it was a fat camp for boys, and he didn't want to go out of anger because he didn't want to be the fat kid there but soon found out from a loving friend that every kid there is the fat kid and he felt better about it. I will admit that I probably wouldn't be made for camping from past experiences but going to a summer camp, that might be interesting to do as a kid.
Even as I saw how they introduced the character Lars, I used to remember when ever they asked him where he's from, I used joke around by saying "He's Lars from Mars" or I'd think it would be funny if one of the kids would say "Lars is from Mars" that would've been a funny line in the film but sadly that line wasn't in there, but it would still be funny if it was.
Although, I will admit that I found it hard to watch the kids who were the campers of the fat camp going through such cruelty by Tony and the rival camp they were competing against because I sort of was a large person for my age as a kid myself, well, I wasn't fat or obese or anything, I was more like showing just a little fat in me. But I did at one time think that Tony and the rival camp were bullying them kids for being fat or something but I think Tony was just desperate to make the kids lose a lot of weight really fast over the summer and the rival camp were just bullying them because they were not the best at sports or physical challenges.
I will admit that Tony using the camp to turn it into the top weight loss infomercial that he wants to use for an infomercial he can sell, anyone can agree that idea wouldn't work, especially if it's at a fat camp because since all kids are different, yet losing weight and how a fat camp operates, Tony's way of doing things would never work but the way how their beloved camp runner Pat would do things, I knew that Pat's way would work because Tony's way is something out of a sadistic boot camp which those kids don't need a boot camp.
Although even when the camp counselors were doing their best to help the kids by going through the proper channels, I sort of knew that the proper channels wouldn't really work or wouldn't show up when they needed them since in other films or television shows, the justice system has often shown to have been ether too slow or not always working out. Which I will admit that can make anyone feel mad but also want to help the kids even more. Yet I did like the parts where they finally did something about that sadistic Tony when the kids got him in a make shift holding cell.
Yet once the kids celebrated and went on a binge party of junk food, soda and pizza, I will admit that I felt like anyone would probably join them, I would. Yet I think it was a good thing that Pat helped them kids see the light for them to lose weight and start becoming healthier but he had them realize that by doing that in a kindly manner.
Even though Tony broke out, still, when the parents found out about what the kids went through at the camp from what Tony has put them through, I naturally knew they'd be shocked yet once Tony broke out and they all witnessed the truth of his evil nature and Gerry's dad gave Tony a punch, even though Tony fought back and tried to escape but failed, I felt so satisfied that they took down Tony and that camp hope finally beat the rival camp at the physical challenges they did every year, even though in the past they lost to them, but once the campers of camp hope finally beat the rival team and stuck it to them, that was so satisfying. Even when Pat finally kissed and won over the woman of his dreams, I think it was cool that Pat finally started to come out of his shell.
I loved how this film turned out, it had plenty of everything that a comedy could have. Yet I sort of wondered what happened to the child actors and the other adult actors from this film because I only heard a little bit about what they're doing now yet I think they should have a cast reunion. I think it's good that this film was made back than because if it was made in the mid 2000s or later, there would be a possibility we might not have the chance to see it since by now, there's a lot more sensitivity to some issues in day to day life. So I'm glad that they made this film in the 90s and made it such a classic. I love this film.
Rock Dog (2016)
Better Than I've Expected
I loved this film the second I saw the previews to it. It's got such a good story, lovable characters, great plot. Why is everyone hating on this film and why does the reviews and all say it's a bad film? This is a good film. Bodi is so adorable that I want to hug him and pinch his cheeks and spoil him, Angus may have came off as stuck up and mean at first but he did turn out to be a good guy after all when he realized he wasn't very nice to poor Bodi and went to apologize to him for how he treated him, Darma is so compassionate towards Bodi, I can tell from the looks of it those two will end up as a couple, Germur may be forgetful at times but lots of us are, but he's great with people and is a good guy, Trey is a mean jerk and he got what he deserved, Khampa. Bodi's dad, I'll admit, he's a bit strict and maybe he shouldn't turn down music and deny people's freedom but he's a good dad and at least realizes Bodi found his calling and that he found his fire, the villains at least were defeated, Riff and Skozz are like the classic funny brothers that get into classically funny situations, even though they were evil, I felt happy that Riff and Skozz joined the side of good and are now good people who work for good old Khampa and Bodi and the other heroes, I really like Fleetwood, sure he's old but he's a wise, cool old guy, he could be like a grandpa figure towards Bodi and his friends. I could easily see myself as a character in this film as a young teenage male lion, sure with a lot of hair but also joining Bodi, his friends and Angus as part of their team and becoming friends with the other heroes with me as a great singer but the part that would be cute yet funny is that Bodi, Darma and Germur are learning to sort of be like parents, Angus feeling out of his element as he doesn't know anything about kids but he learns how to be great with kids, Khampa would be at first nervous about being a grandpa for being worried he might mess up but he eventually would learn that he can relate to me, Fleetwood being overjoyed to having me as part of his family and people, Riff overjoyed to interact with me because he wants to make me laugh, Skozz would speak to me as he would feel confident and comfortable speaking to me as he never spoken verbally for the first time to anyone which would be like progress for him. I know I'm just imagining it but we're all free to dream.
Drake & Josh: Battle of Panthatar (2007)
Popular Kids Are All Evil
I'll admit, in the beginning of the episode, it seemed nice of Thornton to invite Drake and Josh to his birthday party that he's throwing a huge event for, he was slightly rude to Josh when he said he's inviting all the cool kids he knows and he said he's told to include Josh from how he said it. Than Thornton caught Drake kissing his girl friend, that's when he showed his true colors, the world's biggest jerk that ever lived whose also mean, petty, selfish and vindictive. To be fair, Drake didn't know that Maria was Thornton's girl friend and Josh didn't know either, they only found out when Thornton had told a small description of her. The way Thornton reacted and behaved the whole episode made me want to give him a punishment so strict that even our countries president would find cruel. Even after they gave him that Beatles album to apologize, he was appreciative but he still wouldn't let them in, even let Megan in. The way how desperate they were, you can't blame them, get their hopes up and one misunderstanding makes him crush their hopes. I hated this episode because Thornton never got karma, if I was producing and writing this episode, I'd make sure Thornton got karma to bite him in the back door.
Rupert (1991)
Best cartoon of the 90s
As a kid, watching cartoons is the thing kids are known for doing. When I was a small kid, I used to watch this show religiously. Although at first I never knew it was first made in Britain and premiered in America, yet I found out years later but still love this cartoon.
It was on of my favorite shows ever. The animation style, the background, the characters, the plot to every episode, the plot to the series, the way the characters personalities are like, the adventures they go on, everything was an original that made this a classic cartoon.
I loved Rupert Bear, I used to imagine that I was a character in the cartoon and that me and Rupert were inseparable brothers going on adventures together. They need to bring this cartoon back on Nick Jr. or Nickelodeon like other cartoons they had on Nick Jr. or Nickelodeon from the 90s to early 2000s. The last I can say is the 90s cartoon of Rupert was the best cartoon to watch as a kid, even now I'm visiting the cartoon when I'm pushing 27 and the show is still good.
Zapped (2014)
Everything Is So Typical
I watched this film out of curiosity just to see what it was like and it was the worst film ever, it was rather offensive to me. A magical phone app that controls boys in the hands of a teenage girl who apparently refused to accept boys for who they are, even if they have flaws. They tried to make it seem like all girls were perfect and boys were the cause of all problems but it showed that girls are not all that perfect as they claim to be and that they blame boys for their personal problems that boys are not the cause of. The mean girl in the film, she actually annoys me, she's proves that when she has the phone with the magical app that she's a criminal, well, she only acts like one and her friend, although not as mean as her but even the mean girl is mean to her.
But this whole film is demeaning to all boys, I'm a boy and I found this to be the idea of a woman, even though it was a man who directed it. This whole film seems to be screaming the term "Man-Haters" all over it. Zendaya as usual had to dance, the acting in this was horrible, the plot and story was nothing but garbage and insulting to boys. The whole time I watched it, I couldn't be more offended and I felt like hated every minute of it and everything about it. I find it demeaning and insulting to boys, I actually couldn't stop talking back to the film and the characters in it. I'm surprised this film didn't bomb. Although the thing about this film that satisfied me was that the girls in this finally learned that all boys are innocent and the girls were guilty of every evil thing through the whole plot and story. This film should never seen the light of day the minute they thought of it. I never hated any film in my whole life and this film is hateful to all boys and I think this film deserves to be hated for being the worst film ever and demeaning to boys. This film is nothing but an attack on boys and it screams "Man-Haters" all over.
