The Hike (I) (2011)

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear....dreadful!

I watched this last night on the Horror Channel, UK. An hour and a half of complete nonsense.

Totally unconvincing story, extremely poor acting and none dimensional characters. The script feels like it has been written by a 10 year old kid.

The story does not make any sense. Why a group of killers are out in the woods waiting for poor, unsuspecting hikers is beyond me.

The lead male and co-writer Ben Loyd-Holmes cannot portray a menacing killer, in my opinion.

I have heard quite a lot of hype about Zara Phythian, but after watching this film it must all be hype. Her performance was dire. She was monotone, even when crying and upset. Admittedly she had her work cut out due to the dreadful dialogue and script in general, however she just didn't seem to try and act. I know she comes from a martial arts background but that doesn't mean to say that she cannot put on a performance...even her fighting was unconvincing.

Some of the cinematography wasn't bad but on certain points, such as the action scenes the cinematographer decided to shoot right up close so you couldn't see what was supposed to be happening.

People have been going on about there was a twist at the end....there was no twist, it was so predictable and you could see it coming a mile off.

The film is very lazy, in writing, acting and directing.

Please, please, please DO NOT BOTHER WATCHING THIS!

Airborne (II) (2013)

I feel sorry for Mark Hamill - the only shining light in this putrid film!

Dreadful script and poorly directed. I do not really need to add much more to what other people have said. Like I said, Mark Hamill is the best thing in this but even he is second rate due to the poor direction and terrible script.

The only convincing thing in the film is ***Spoiler Alert**** the vase!!!

How annoying was Bob? He was supposed to be an American but I couldn't quite put my finger on his accent....not sure what state he was supposed to be from and I don't know what 'America' he was from either. It doesn't bode well when the writer/director can't even act convincingly, and why Phillips character is so concerned about a man he spoke to for 2 minutes I will never know.

Can't really complain about Gemma Atkinson. Producers obviously got her involved because she is easy on the eye and her looks might distract you from the shite.

He Who Dares (2014)

Absolutely dreadful!

This film is diabolical! Why I watched it I will never know. As soon as I saw the names Tanter, Phillips and Phythian I should have realised it would be 90 odd minutes of dross!

The acting is absolutely terrible (if you can call it acting). The set up is just not believable....which soldiers were supposed to be SAS, I haven't got a clue. The dialogue is infantile.

Technically, it is shot okay. The camera work is pretty good....but that is about it.

I am annoyed at myself for watching this.

Please, do not bother wasting your time watching.

10 Grams (2015)

Well acted micro budget gritty movie

This micro budget film is a real gem! It was made for virtually no budget, the standard of acting and production is better than some films with budgets of hundreds of thousands.

Lloyd James is outstanding as a lead actor, however he has a very good supporting cast who all work well off each other (Steve King is another one who stands out). The story flows and is easy to follow.

Don't get me wrong, there are flaws in the film but that is forgiven because of the great story and great acting.

Well worth a watch. I won't say anything about the plot or storyline but watch this film yourself, rather than watching some over hyped Hollywood blockbuster that has had a marketing budget of millions.
