Hunters (2020)
Not as good as I wanted it to be
I had given it a 7/10 but after episode 9 it all went downhill. Episode 9 is like a tacky parody of a series... That episode totally ruined it for me.
I mean: our characters sneak in a factory full of people in broad daylight, popping out of a car's trunk, and noone notices a thing, just because "the guards won't come around there again any time soon". The PLANT MANAGER (not your ordinary employee) has suddenly a different face and an obviously fake wig and noone notices, he walks past so many people and noone even tries to say a simple "hello".
In general, the whole show feels like a weird parody-like combination of The Man in the High Castle meeting Utopia. It is filled with stupid humor like most american movies nowdays: the usual dumb lines that are supposed to be "funny" just because noone would normally say such things in such situations. This stupid effortless excuse of a humor is perhaps the worst outcome of all that Marvel hype we've suffered during the last decade.
Nevertheless, the performances of Dylan Baker and Al Pacino are wonderful, and I was so excited to see John Noble in yet another role that noone else could ever play as good as he did.
Anyway, It is such a pity because with those actors and a fascinating part of history such as Operation Paperclip, this show could have been a huge thing.
Travelling Salesman (2012)
Much less than I expected
This movie is basically about 5 people arguing about what happens AFTER proving that P=NP.
In my opinion it becomes a tad ridiculous after a point. Even though they are "some of the smartest people on earth" and they have been working on this problem for years, they keep trying to convince and astonish each other by yelling fundamentals of theory of computation in an overdramatized tone.
I also found really disappointing the fact that they showed nothing about the problem and how one would work to solve this. Of course I wouldn't expect to get into details about the proof since such thing doesn't exist ( :P ), but I would expect them to describe the problem in a better, more detailed way than comparing it to a card trick or to searching a coin buried in the desert.
I guess it was a decent effort though and I like the fact that I watched a movie which is even remotely connected to this fascinating problem.
Ghost in the Shell (2017)
I loved it
I understand that most people are disappointed because the movie didn't resemble the anime completely.
On the other hand, I am one of those who haven't watched the anime movie (yet!), and I found this movie to be close to a masterpiece.
The actors were great, but I think that the direction, the special effects and the cinematography were out of this world.
The story is also really deep, with exciting turnovers and an atmospheric setting.
