Blazing chemistry and sex scenes... and then...
4 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Beutifully filmed, full of premonitory details. Love it.

In 2002 this movie still has a bit of the late 80s erotica combined with a more 90s rawness of the sex scenes. There is great merit in filming sex scenes that start with a perfectly paced building of emotional tension.

I dislike the plot shifting with the homicide scene, because such an event is so unlikely... and from then on it's like a different movie sparing the viewer from Connie's drama between rediscovering her own sexuality or saving her marriage and family. I have never been a fan of Richard Gere and the shifting of the focus to him really disrupts the interesting part of the movie for me. And of course it takes Olivier Martinez away from the viewer (wich is just terrible!)

Persuasion (2007 TV Movie)

A much better Anne 2007 and 1995
19 December 2022
I think Jane Austen's characters are not supposed to be devoid of feeling, as much as they are to be concealing them. I find Sally Hawkins a much better Anne than Amanda Root. Her face depicts emotion, happiness, sadness and above all the self conciousness that seems to be absent in the 1995 version. The characters are more relatable and the pace of the film seems more engaging.

I must point out that the costumes of Anne and her presentation in general were much more appropriate for her social status than in the 1995 version. She looked significantly better without being a stunner. Wentworth also looked much better and made it more believable that he would be the party everyone was looking after. Ciaran Hinds was way too stiff for the part in 1995, both in looks and in his manner.

I know I am with the minority, but I found this version much more pleasing.

I tried to like it, I really did
19 December 2022
I watched this in a Jane Austen frenzie, after Pride and Prejudice BBC series, which of course might have affected my good judgement. The reason on which I was left unsatisfied with this Persuasion is Annes' character herself and the way they portrayed her. I thought she swapped between mental retardation and exaggerated eagerness... alongside with other moments of lack of decorum, for her time, in her interactions with the opposite sex, which supported my theory of desinhibited behavior. I have to say I haven't read the book and that Jane Austen really might have created a character that fits right into this description. However, I felt her lacking in depth of emotion to be a real Austn heroine, never really seeing much more than eagerness, with a sort of empty expression. She reminded me very much of Emily Watson in Breaking the waves, and you see where this leads me to, once more. The other characters I was happy with, especially her sisters and father. Some other reviewers said it would be hard not to drop a tear, but really, I am such a hearthrob and my face was always dry! I guess I might give it another shot someday. And what kind of ending was that?

Lucifer (2016–2021)

Season 6 went sailed too far from the coast
27 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The first three seasons were good, but Netflix took away the magic when they picked it up. It's hard to watch the Lucifer and Chloe interaction in season 4. Obviously the writers strugled a lot with this complex relationship and failed to make it consistent. From then on the show and characters become insecure and goofy.

I edited this comment because of season 5. Things improved a lot in season 5. Tom Ellis is such a great actor that the adition of more of him on the screen really improved the show!

Lauren German is sometimes inconsistent in her acting... I also have a problem with the "children" in the show... I mean.. why can't Trixie or Rory look like their parents, not even a bit? I mean, expecially Rory... she is nothing alike!

Of the first 3 seasons I'd say the 2nd is the best, kudos to Tricia Hefter as The Goddess. In the 3rd series, they should just have removed the sinnerman story wich is lamely conceived. The first season is not so genious as the 2nd, but it's still really, really good.

Absolutely stunning movie poetry
1 November 2021
I wasn't aware the time was going by while watching. This is luxurious film making.

I saw this movie as an adolescent and was dazzled by the star tunnel and found everything else strange. Nowadays i am impressed with the scenarios, the photography, the pace, the flow of events... Waw.

The computer scene alone is worth an entire movie.

Every single shot of the movie is worth a painting.

Not a single day has this movie aged. I can't even imagine what this might have meant in 1963 when it came out.

A movie can have no plot and still be great
6 June 2021
As soon as the movie started it caught my eye by it's unique visual style, incredible camera angles, and striking characters. I find the movie incredibly funny, wich is surprising since this is not a comedy?

By the way.. what is this? I guess the out of genre designation fits this movie very well.

I love these gliding movent scenes, the photography... Amazing camera artwort. Delicious.

Photography and not much more

It's the transition to adult life and turning out a different person that lost me to the movie. I mean.. there are some good acting moments, but the plot is quite poor. Obviously an Oscar winner for political reasons, but then again, the Oscars have become just a hoax show. In that sense, it's aproppriate.

Don't watch if you are a doctor
21 January 2020
You will twist in agony if you do so. It's so inaccurate and miraculous that you will be alienated by the whole thing. The muscly DeNiro playing the part of a paralysed man, the irresponsible dosing of medication, the absurd of a total recovery in a prolongued disease.... but DeNiro is the worst thing of the film. How he recovers and finds himself behaving as a mature refined grown man did not shock the hell out of reviewers??? Aaahhhg.... I was hoping to see something entertaining on netflix, but between the irishman and this movie, all i ever get to see is DeNiro playing crap. This is the most childish movie i have ever seen in my life. Stay away.

Feels like a dark Burtonesque Christmas movie.. Alluring! Sublime!
16 December 2019
It's the best Batman movie, one of the best Tim Burton movies, and one iconic Cat girl, Waw Michelle Pfeiffer! She IS the cat woman! Neurotic, dark, sexy, lonely sensitive secretary meets mysterious, sexy heartbroken millionaire superhero?.. Bang! Its Burton Perfection! It's their chemistry I like the most in this movie.. I love all their scenes. And Danny DeVito as The Penguin? Superb!. I know this movie has a good rating, it's just not good enough! The rating should be 10/10. In fact, i feel like watching it again, because it's my all time favourite Christmas movie.

Complete garbage
16 December 2019
I am very surprised as how this absolute crap of a movie managed to score 7.7 on imbd! I's unbelievable! As unbeliavable as this gigantic nonsense of a plot! But there is predictability too! Oh really, he put drugs on your drink?? Nobody saw that coming!.. Its as if they wanted to put all the clichetic characters Hollywood as ever had, right in the middle of the way of these 4 weirdos. The mab, the king-fu guy, the tiger dealers.. the lost baby.. It's embarrassing. The tiger scenes alone are just uncomprehensible. The whole thing feels so forced. Aaagh! I couldn't even finish watching this. I just came here to rant and tell you, intelligent viewers, to stay away from this.

Absolute crap
24 November 2019
Charlize Theron plays the role of a psychopath woman. She is quite scary at it, but this is not a thriller or anything like that! Keanu Reeves is a sort of ruthless psychopathic man himself... But there is no corporate world thriller going on, its supposed a romantic comedy of some sorts!.. Oh dear.. Its just... too bad of a plot to digest... Talk about improbable! The acting and the ridiculous plot make a seemwhat easy romantic theme (workaholic man meets crazy fun woman) feel embarrassing! I mean.. they go LIVE togheter? Out of the blue? She proposes a month internship at her place? What can I say.. please don't waste your time.. Do you feel like watching a romantic comedy on Sunday afternoon? Try Notting Hill.

Not remarkable at all
15 October 2017
That's all. Could have been a seemingly decent film if it lasted for no more that 40 minutes and then we all would go about our business. The movie is so long with so little on hand, that it just becomes ridiculous. And that awful, awfully long rape scene... Disgusting! It was hard to watch until the end.

13 Reasons Why (2017–2020)
2/10
it gets worse as episodes go by
15 October 2017
The show started off really well, but as the story develops... it just doesn't add up. Why on heck would this girl kill herself? Hannah had nice parents, pretty average friends, good looks and yes... she was completely entitled. It's really hard to like someone who saw a friend getting raped and just stood there letting it all happen, unable to take action to help her defenseless friend, whom she then rants about, in her tapes. Justification: she was too busy with her own nonexistent problems. Then, at the end of the series, she decides to crash a party at the house of the rapist and expects all to go really well. Let's not even go into that really awkward rape scene. The viewer can't tell if that is meant to be a rape scene or soft porn. At least Jessica's rape scene is credible.

The two stars go to the production, the music, the way the plot unfolds the acting of Hannah's parents, Clay's parents, Jessica and even Justin, the abuse victim that no one payed attention to. The rather unrelatable main character and the annoying Clay face, avenging the Hannah cause and her nonense rants make you want to slap both of them. It's life, get over it. And why on earth is Clays face always injured? So you can tell between the wimp he was and the sneaky bastard wimp avenger he became? What about Tony? Is that guy coming from a different series and suddenly inserted here? The list of unbelievable characters and dialogues goes on and on.

It's hard to like Hannah. I wouldn't want her as a friend either.

The adolescent high school drama is such a popular theme on television series that one would expect teenagers to be equipped for it already. It's hard to believe that someone, seemingly quite mentally sane would commit suicide over teenage angst. We have no evidence whatsoever that Hannah was chronically depressed or mentally disturbed or suicidal, at all (unlike Alex, who was portrayed as a depressed kid). So... the series is not about suicide, because the main character is not suicidal. This series is about bullying, rape, consent, political correctness and, overall, social justice hot topics. The suicide part is badly handled and banalized. It legitimizes victimization and even suicide itself. Blergh.

Some characters provide a balanced point of view about the bullying Hannah was (not) a victim of, but the common sense fades away as the season end approaches, as the show's tone becomes increasingly partial and self-righteous and, overall, annoying.

Empty. Meaningless.
16 April 2014
This was one of those movies that kept me moving in the chair from my total lack of interest in it.

OK, it is a pretty movie. OK, it is Spike Jonze. So what?

The story promised something interesting, relevant, about human relationships and.. it started off well too.. but as soon as the OS "appears" my hopes turned to shreds.

It is commonplace, boring, empty and futile. It is also a very pretentious movie and the main character is far too self-righteous to be interesting.

Clearly they had a good idea in hands, just could not handle it well. Overrated.

The sex scene is embarrassing and it would give this movie a -10 in a fair rating. I am sincerely surprised at the current rating of this movie. But time will tell, and time will put this one in Rotten Tomatoes. If you haven't seen it, please, waste no time.
