Twisters (2024)
A Predictable and Uninspired Remake Lacking Originality
Twisters" attempts to revive the excitement of the original "Twister," but it falls short, feeling more like a predictable and uninspired remake. While the movie introduces some variations, it lacks the originality to set it apart. The plot is formulaic, and the twists are easily anticipated, leaving little room for genuine suspense. Additionally, the film focuses heavily on the attractiveness of its protagonists, particularly Van Der, rather than on developing a compelling story. While disaster films aren't typically expected to be award-winners, "Twisters" feels more like a missed opportunity than an engaging experience. The action scenes are visually impressive, but the lack of character development and emotional depth makes it hard to care about the outcome. Ultimately, "Twisters" is a forgettable entry in the genre, offering little more than recycled thrills. I would rate it a 3 out of 10.
The Acolyte: Choice (2024)
: When Star Wars Hits Rock Bottom
In this episode, we experience a flashback that rehashes events from Episode 1 from a different perspective. However, this alternate viewpoint adds nothing to the plot or the mystery we were promised. It begs the question: Who approved this? Who at the corporate level signed off on this content? This isn't quality television-it's just content. The events of these seven episodes could have been condensed into 45 minutes or less by skilled writers and directors. Even with a dull story, talented individuals could have salvaged it, but this storyline remains incoherent. With only one episode left, the series leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Overall, the show has yet to take off, even as we approach the penultimate episode. It's arguably the worst thing I've ever seen. It's a shame to witness the destruction of such a successful franchise.
The Acolyte: Teach/Corrupt (2024)
A Tedious Disappointment
I don't even see the appeal for children. I thought perhaps this series was aimed at a younger audience, but even a child would be bored watching something like this. It makes no sense. I'm at a loss for words, but the series is simply dull. Terrible. I can't understand how anyone could enjoy this. This is truly bad television. The quality is just poor.
The villain is no longer so evil and becomes philosophical after talking to Mae. Mae gets angry and almost attacks with a lightsaber, but refrains because she remembers she's a Jedi. It all feels so trivial and bland. Sol not recognizing Osha makes no sense.
Definitely, the series is bad. I think it's the worst Star Wars content I've ever seen.
The Acolyte: Night (2024)
Episode 5 of 'The Acolyte': Slight Improvement but Still Disappointing
Just because something is slightly better than previous episodes doesn't mean it's good. This episode continues to break the canon since Smiley Ren eventually said he was a Sith. Unless Sol is killed before he communicates with any other Jedi or someone from the council, there's a problem. If you didn't create something, the least you can do is research to stay true to the original story. Even in science fiction, there must be rules to make it believable.
That said, a few things were done well. For once, Disney dares to kill someone with lightsabers. In previous series like Ahsoka, characters survived lightsaber wounds and returned in the next episode. At least here, the rule that surviving an internal lightsaber wound is fatal was respected. I liked Smiley Ren's antagonist's performance; he did well. However, Jedi in this Disney world are like stormtroopers, getting killed too quickly. The disparity between the villain and the Jedi didn't seem believable.
Also, it didn't make sense that the Sith antagonist killed six or seven people, but Sol didn't kill him when he had the chance because he was told he was unarmed. Even Jedi Masters like Mace Windu knew some rivals were better eliminated for the greater good. The scenes were too dark. It's an improvement over episodes 3, the worst, and 4, but it didn't impress me. I had to wait five episodes to see some action. Disney should invest in screenwriters who know how to craft stories. Unlike Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon, which have similar budgets, Disney's use of $180 million for 30-minute episodes is questionable. HBO's House of the Dragon spent $200 million on 45-60-minute episodes, which is more consistent. It feels like a money laundering scheme.
In the end, I give it a 3.
The Acolyte: Day (2024)
Halfway Through and Still Wandering: The Acolyte's Unexpected Filler
Episode 4 of Disney's The Acolyte series is an unexpected filler, especially baffling considering the series only has eight episodes, each lasting a mere 35-50 minutes. One would think that with such a limited runtime, every moment would be packed with meaningful content, but episode 4 proves otherwise.
The bulk of the episode is spent meandering through a forest, devoid of engaging dialogue or significant plot development. The characters' journey through the woods feels aimless, with long stretches of silence that fail to build tension or advance the storyline in any meaningful way.
The entire purpose of the episode seems to be to set up the final scene, which introduces the antagonist displaying their powers. However, this brief moment hardly justifies the 30 minutes of uneventful wandering that precedes it.
Overall, episode 4's lackluster script and absence of compelling content make it a disappointing midpoint for The Acolyte. With only four episodes remaining, one can only hope that the series picks up the pace and delivers a more engaging narrative in the episodes to come.
The Acolyte: Destiny (2024)
Review of Episode 3 of The Acolyte
Episode 3 of The Acolyte has left much to be desired, especially in terms of production quality. The costumes and makeup, in particular, fall short of expectations for a show of this caliber.
Costumes: The costumes in this episode look incredibly cheap. Instead of the rich, detailed attire we might expect from a Star Wars production, the characters are dressed in outfits that seem hastily made and lack any sense of authenticity or craftsmanship.
Makeup: The makeup work in this episode is of very poor quality. The face paint is poorly applied, with obvious lines where the colors don't blend. This is most noticeable in the case of the woman with small horns on her face. Her makeup looks particularly terrible, coming across as cheap and fake. It's a stark contrast to the more passable job done on the mother of the girls, whose makeup is at least somewhat acceptable.
Tone: There's a significant difference between creating something for children and making something childish, ridiculous, and cheesy. Unfortunately, this episode leans heavily towards the latter. The execution feels more like a parody than a serious addition to the Star Wars universe, with overly simplistic dialogue and scenarios that lack depth and believability.
Overall, Episode 3 of The Acolyte fails to deliver the quality and immersion that fans expect. The shoddy costumes and makeup, combined with a tone that veers into the childish, make for a disappointing viewing experience.
The Acolyte (2024)
Star Wars: The Acolyte Falls Short of Its Legacy
"The Acolyte," the latest series in the Star Wars franchise, falls short of expectations. Historically, Star Wars has been known for its cutting-edge special effects and innovation. However, recent Disney+ series, including "The Acolyte," feel cheap in comparison. The cinematography lacks the high-quality feel that HBO consistently delivers in their sci-fi and fantasy series like "Game of Thrones" and "House of the Dragon."
The plot of "The Acolyte" is weak and simplistic, offering nothing new in the first two episodes. The performances, particularly by the actress playing the dual roles of twins, lack the gravitas needed for a compelling villain. So far, the series is not working.
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022)
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent" - A Stellar Showcase of Cage and Pascal's Versatility
"The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent" is a cinematic gem featuring the brilliant performances of Nicholas Cage and Pedro Pascal, who showcase an impressive range of acting abilities, effortlessly transitioning between comedic, dramatic, and action-packed scenes. The movie is a delightful blend of humor and entertainment, keeping the audience thoroughly engaged throughout its runtime. Cage and Pascal's chemistry on screen adds an extra layer of enjoyment to this must-see film."
:Nicholas Cage and Pedro Pascal dazzle with their incredible range, effortlessly nailing comedic, dramatic, and action moments. An entertaining gem that keeps you hooked till the end! Don't miss it! 😄🎬
The Grandmaster of Kungfu (2019)
Ip man great Value
While watching the movie, I could not avoid the similarities between this movie and the Ip man. It is fun, but they rip off the same argument.
If ip man had not been released ever, then I would give this movie high praise. Unfortunately, it came out 7 years late. If you haven't watched ip man then you definitely will enjoy this one. The fighting scenes are pretty good and dynamic.
One thing that caught my attention was the facial expressions of the leading actor. He is always tense even when the argument calls for a relaxed expression.
Sometimes the movie is cheese and predictable, but for a Monday night when nothing else is going on, I will recommend this.
Cuando quiero llorar no lloro (1991)
Perhaps the best Colombian tv series in history.
This is perhaps the best series on Colombian television. It touches all aspects of Colombian society from the 50s to the 90s. Issues such as violence and drug trafficking are regularly touched on in the Colombian series. This one also shows family life from all strata: the lower, middle, and upper classes.
The selection of actors is phenomenal, as are the script and the dialogues. The series begins a few decades past and ends in the present (the 1990s). At the time, it had the highest rating.
I hope one day I can see it again, just as they have been releasing the Colombian series; without a doubt, it would be a success.
Mr. Harrigan's Phone (2022)
Good acting bad script
I will pass on this one. It feels empty at the end. Good cinematography. The acting was good.
I think the end is a bit lazy; if they were trying to create an Alfred Hitchcock experience, they failed miserably. If the screenwriter keeps trying, maybe one day they will achieve their goal.
I have to write 300 hundred more words to comply with this review; all I can tell you is that if you don't have anything to watch, this might be the solution you are looking for. But only and only if there is nothing else as an option.
My recommendation is to skip this movie or leave it when you don't have anything else to watch.
That's Amor (2022)
Great comedy
People need to realize that this is a comedy. For being a low-budget movie, I would say it is excellent. Yes, there are no actors from Spain. Yes, it is cheese and predictable, but who cares? This movie is like pizza; it is good no matter what.
For a Saturday night, lonely on your cozy couch, I see this movie being a great success. The acting was good; there was not Marlon Brando, Meryl Streep, or Steve Seagal; but they did a good job.
I liked it; it was fun. Suppose you expect to watch an academy award movie; look for another option. However, if you are looking for an easy film to enjoy and relax, this might be the one.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
There is no consistency
Unrealistic, childish, looks low budget. I am totally dissatisfied with story line. There is no continuity between different series. Disney will have difficulty pulling this off.
The Northman (2022)
2 stars and I am being kind
The movie is plodding; I think it is also way too long. There was no need to be 220 minutes. They should have done a better job at the edition. The storyline is Boring. I was very disappointed after all this time waiting for it.
Moon Knight (2022)
Venom 3.1
It really follows the typical recipe from superheroes movies. It is boring and predictable. Great acting and special effects, but not much more. I will be updating this if I see any improvements.
Reacher (2022)
Needs better script
I like the cast and the speed of dialogue. I also appreciate how good Tom cruise compares to this actor. I am not saying he is a bad actor, but Tom is outstanding. The show needs better writers. It is lacking something to be a great show.
Nobody (2021)
Ugly John Wick
I really enjoyed the movie, the pace is perfect and a lot of action. Highly recommended. He is not as handsome as Keanu Reeves but gets the job done. He is not as invincible as John Wick but still unrealistic.
The Legend of Hercules (2014)
If this was a parody would be a 10
There has been a lot of bad comments, but let me tell you I enjoyed the movie. The acting is so bad that looks like a parody.
The special effects are not bad at all as well as the costumes. The dialogue sometimes is cheesy. If you have low expectations you might actually enjoy the movie.
Willy's Wonderland (2021)
Surprisingly good and fun
If you are looking for something easy to watch and fun this is a good choice. It has a good pace. If you are looking for a Grammy award movie then move on.
The Witches (2020)
Why? Why? Why???
If you are going to do something that has been done before, try to make it better or do not make it.
Alita: Battle Angel (2019)
Great adaptation to the manga
The screenplay and story is just sublime, I really love it and it is quite similar to the manga. Well executed
