Adrian Belew & David Bowie: Pretty Pink Rose (1990)
Brilliant but not HD
This is my all time fave Bowie video (yes, really) but someone out there has a HD version.
Please put it on YouTube!.
The current versions are poor quality. But the music and theme are brilliant.
The King's Man (2021)
Brilliant
I watched the first two features of this triptych and was well entertained by the first episode, though the second somewhat lost its way.
When I learned of this 'prequel' I was rather sceptical of it and was reluctant to waste time on it.
How wrong I was!
This has to be one of the best films I've seen in the last 12 months. It's truly a wondrous effort.
I watched it with my 13 y.o. Boy, and yes - the language was often unsuitable - but the story telling made up for it. He has been studying WW1 in school, and although I won't say this is historically perfect (what Hollywood film ever is) it brought the events of the period wonderfully to life and will certainly stick in his memory.
It was entertaining, informative, worthy, and wonderfully acted and set. I congratulate the director and the cast. Not least for resurrecting a series which had stumbled.
I can sympathise with the negative comments of those who might have political views which clash with the glorification of this take on WW1 history, and I have many such reservations myself. But the script is more than sympathetic to that - especially with the inclusion of the 'anti-war poet' Wilfred Owen, and the jingoism is light in touch.
Enjoy it for what it is - a great piece of film making. Well done. Now please make the next one just as good!
The Boss Baby: Family Business (2021)
Absolutely loved it!
We watched this with the kids and we were all in stitches. Superb writing, great casting - loved Goldblumms part - just a great couple of hours fun. Highly recommended.
