Press Play (2022)
One of my favorite movies
I absolutely loved Press Play. I had no idea what the movie was about when I watched it the first time, only that it had Lewis Pullman in it and he's my favorite actor. Time travel and mixtapes were not what I was expecting, but I was pleasantly surprised. I want somebody to make me a mixtape! Anyways...I wish he didn't have to die, but that's ultimately what the movie is about: you can't control what happens, only what you decide to do. When Laura (Clara) realizes she can't save Harrison (Lewis) she finally accepts it tearfully. She then ends up "meeting" him again for the first time and he says "maybe we're soulmates." You will definitely cry watching this by the way! I want a sequel!!
Psych 3: This Is Gus (2021)
Definitely the worst movie so far...
I'm a huge Psych fan (it's in my top 3 favorite tv shows). I've enjoyed the other 2 movies, but this one, while there were funny/nostalgic moments, left me wanting more. The guys still act like little boys, but they're clearly getting older. Sometimes they talked too fast or quiet for me to understand and I missed the punch line. There were also moments that dragged on and I felt myself wanting them to end. Shawn hardly used his "physic abilities" at all and there was very little mystery. If you're a fan of the show like me, you won't miss much by not watching this movie.
The Flash (2014)
Should've ended a couple seasons ago
The first couple seasons were amazing! But lately it's gone downhill. Especially with Cisco leaving and Harrison Wells, it's just not the same. Chester is the most annoying character!! Why does he use such random interjections? The writing is so bad lately too. Please put this show out of its misery!
Dash & Lily (2020)
I'm in love!
Such a cute show! I binged it in a day, and honestly want to watch it all over again. From the very first minute, I was hooked. I love the mystery and intrigue of wanting the characters to meet in person, and seeing the story from both perspectives. It's based on a book series, so I'm hoping they make more seasons. It's hard to find a show these days that doesn't have too much language or sex, and this one is pretty clean. Definitely try it out, you won't be disappointed!!
Virgin River (2019)
Don't waste your time.
Netflix recommended this show for me to watch after I watched Hart of Dixie. Unfortunately this show is a very poor knock off of Hart of Dixie. City girl moves to small town and doesn't plan on staying, but ends up staying and falling in love blah blah blah. They even have the same actor play a similar role in both shows. Don't waste your time watching this boring show. Instead go watch Hart of Dixie.
Psych 2: Lassie Come Home (2020)
Pretty darn good.
As a huge fan of the tv show, I was very excited to hear about a second movie! I read some other reviews and wasn't so sure I actually wanted to watch it though, because a lot of people said it wasn't the best. I'm glad I didn't listen and decided to give it a chance. Shawn & Gus are up to their original antics and jokes. Loved the fact the writers specifically wrote Lassie's part based off Timothy Omudson's real life stroke, and was pleasantly surprised at his heroic actions in the end. I do feel like it should've been rated PG-13 as there were a couple of very inappropriate remarks. I personally feel that Woody's performance was the best part of the movie. Overall, fans of the original series will fall back in love with all the characters. Can't wait for the next one!
Manifest (2018)
Intrigued
I was looking forward to this show for a while, and I was not disappointed with the pilot episode. It kept me intrigued the whole time, and I can't wait to see what happens next! The only thing I didn't like was the fact that it had a PG rating, yet one of the characters said the "gd" word. I would've been very upset if I watched this with children in the room.
Ratter (2015)
Disappointed
I'm a fan of Ashley Benson and horror films so I thought I'd give this movie a go. It really isn't that terrible like a lot of reviewers said, but it certainly isn't great. I hate when movies end on a bad note, and this one certainly did. What happened to Emma? I need to know! Why couldn't the police catch the guy, and everything would have been happily ever after. But no, the bad guy had to catch her and potentially kill her. Ugh!!! Hush was another horror film that I thought was much better than this one. I felt closure after watching Hush, but not with Ratter. Also, did they not have enough money to give Emma a good wardrobe? She was constantly wearing just underwear in her apartment, kind of weird. It definitely wasn't the worst movie, but you might want to skip this one.
Fuller House (2016)
Not very family friendly.
I had high expectations for this show, and honestly I'm pretty disappointed. I wasn't alive when Full House came out, but I've watched all of the reruns and it's a favorite of mine. I assumed a Fuller House would be as family friendly as the original, but it's not. There are at least 3 bad words in the first episode alone, and a couple "oh my Gods". Since Candace Cameron Bure is a Christian, I thought it would be a clean show for her to partake in. Anyway, the dialogue seems forced and not very funny. It's actually cringe worthy at times. And don't get me started on Stephanie's ample bosom. She wore a dress that looked like it was pasted on her boobs, and it was very short. Even DJ's dress was a crop dress and showed some skin when she would bend over. Also, there are so many innuendos that made me feel quite uncomfortable. If I had kids, I would not feel comfortable watching this with them.
I did enjoy the side by side shots of the cast singing from the original show. John Stamos and Lori Loughlin seem to have barely aged. And the positive message about always being there for your family and friends was a good aspect. But overall, I would suggest the recommended age to watch this would be at least 14+. You don't have to wear revealing clothes and swear to have a good TV show. I would suggest taking pointers from "When Calls the Heart."
