The O.C.: The Night Moves (2007)
Draws you in and makes you feel the emotions
This was a good next to last episode. The cuts and editing were different, this is true. But I thought that the stiff cuts and fade-ins were very useful, and gave us a feeling of what it would be like to be in the same situation. (Especially in the scenes featuring Ryan.) As an overall episode, I think it worked well, even if it wasn't the next to last one. It would fit in anywhere else in the series just as well. This had a lot of memorable scenes, especially between Julie and Kaitlyn Cooper. The scenes between Ryan and Seth were well played, and showed how well they work together. Everyone was at the top of their game on this episode. It was an excellent chance for everyone's best qualities to shine and give us an emotional view of what they're like when they're only thinking of others, something rare in Orange County.
I rate it a 9/10.
The Letter People (1974)
Great kids show from the 70's and 80's.
This was a great show when I was a kid. I used to love it's visuals and music. This was even part of our schoolwork in Kindergarten. The teacher started each Monday's class by playing a 45rpm record of the letter for the week. Then we would do worksheets of the character. We had color sheets and little "puppets". (The puppets were paper characters on a popsicle stick). The teacher also had a giant inflatable character for each letter that would sit on a desk by the record.
The show itself was also wonderful. It would help teach the alphabet and reading. Each show was based around one letter, and the various characters (Such as Mr. M, with the Munchy-Mouth, and Mr. F that had Funny Feet) would teach us the letter's place in the alphabet, and what kind of sound it made, and words that the letter was in. It was a great show, I remember watching it in the mid-80's. (I was in Kindergarten in 1988, 14 years after the show started, and it was still in use then. I have no idea how long schools used it.) I would recommend this to fans of Sid and Marty Kroft style puppetry, or anyone who is interested in a fun educational program for children. It's also great for those of us who remember it and just want to re-live our childhood a little bit.
Little Dracula (1991)
A great series, with little remembrance or recognition
I remember this show airing on FOX-TV when I was in the 3rd grade. I only remember six episodes being shown. It was in early September and they showed it everyday after school, and then the following Saturday morning. It involved a vampire who was around eight, his vampire family, his best friend (who was a werewolf) and an evil villain with two evil employees. It was a show that most kids could relate to, as it had Little Dracula starting school, having a Christmas celebration (which was nearly ruined by the evil villain, who was made of Garlic), a Hawaiian vacation, his first job at a fast food place (which the villain owned, and sold evil garlic burgers out of -- just so he could poison the the vampire family) and a couple more. It was a memorable show with excellent artwork and voice talents (including Jon Winters!).
About three months after I last saw it, there were toys at Target stores (a Target exclusive, maybe?) I bought the one with Little Drac and his magic top-hat. Anyway, it was a fantastic show with lots of imagination and originality. I don't understand the politics behind it not becoming a huge show. It was easily as good as the rest of the Fox children's fare of the season. It's just a shame that it never found it's market and took off.
