Cold Case: The Good Death (2007)
Will make you cry
Very strong story about what is important in life. The final song "Good Day" by Paul Westerberg is beautiful. I actually downloaded it to my favorites play list. I highly recommend this episode. You will not forget it. Make sure you have a box of tissues handy.
Garm Wars: The Last Druid (2014)
Great Soundtrack/Movie needs repeated viewing to grasp
I saw this movie the first time by accident while surfing through channels and thought it was a horrible, disjointed mess. However I was intrigued by the music. Great soundtrack, like nothing I had ever heard before. Was searching for information on the music and started reading about the movie plot and the symbolism involved so I decided to re-watch the film with that perspective. The movie was very good but felt I missed a few things. On my third viewing I purchased it because I liked it so much. Kevin Durand was excellent! The chemistry between his character, Skellig, and Khara was really good as well. I would love to purchase the soundtrack but unfortunately it is unavailable at this time. Give this film a chance....it is truly unique. I wish they would make a sequel.
Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)
Very good
Although JJ Abrams chose to throw Star Trek cannon out the window (wish he didn't but it's done) the story is fast paced and I liked it. The characters have good chemistry and it made me remember how it felt watching the banter between the crew in TOS. I agree that it would have been a better movie had it fit with the ST franchise but I am glad we have something Trek related. I gave it a 9 because I enjoyed the movie for what it was. I am looking forward to the next movie (which we be a long time coming unfortunately)! I will be seeing this one again tomorrow.
By the way, Zach Quinto's Spock could be the original twin of Nimoys. It is still uncanny. I loved his portrayal. Everyone is cast extremely well.
Painkiller Jane (2005)
Predictable but enjoyable scifi flick
Movie contains no real surprises but held my interest for the duration. Plot as described in other posts. "Dark Angel" comparisons are obvious even though the comic book that this movie is based on pre-dated that show. Characters are attractive and likable but needed more development and background.

Some special effects like when she heals herself from a high powered rifle shot and the bullet spontaneously ejects from her abdomen are pretty cool. Bad and good guys are obvious and I agree with a previous poster that the "twist ending" is not a twist anymore. Romance is hinted at but plays no part in the film if that is what you are looking for and like in a movie. Tate Donovan plays against type as scientist involved in the plot.

As stated previously, it is an obvious setup for a series or sequel (depending on ratings is my guess). I have never read the comic book that this is based on but I will look for it now after seeing the movie
Island City (1994)
Good flick for it's type
Although it was a low budget film, it had a great concept and reminded me of some oldies but goodies that I re-watch occasionally (Genesis II, Planet Earth, Damnation Alley, Ultimate Warrior etc). The casting was pretty good and there was some real chemistry between the actors. Special effects are about what you expect from the low budget but did not distract from the film. The folks that really disliked it probably are not big fans of the low budget "B" sci-fi type films and may like the big budget blockbuster flicks at the theater that have the backing for better scripts and effects. I am glad that I had the chance to tape it from a TV broadcast. Hopefully, it was not edited too much. I am having a friend dub it on to a DVD for me so it will keep it's quality in my library and not deteriorate. Any "B" sci-fi fans out there will enjoy watching this. I would have really liked to see it released as a series, just to see where the writers wanted to go with the basic idea.
