Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015)
An ambitious mission that exceeds expectations
I must admit, Tom Cruise really cares about moviegoers and the way cinema as a whole should be experienced! I had an amazing time watching it on the big screen and will gladly confess - this mission more than just lived up to its reputation.
And Rebecca Ferguson - WOW! I am fumbling for words to describe her. So deadly, yet so vulnerable. So lethal, yet so elegant! She's everything you'll kill for! And, in my opinion, stole every single scene she shared on-screen. Simon Pegg was terrific as usual with his perfect comedic timing. And the banter shared by Jeremy Renner and Alec Baldwin was also fun to watch. Overall, this film works on so many levels that it makes for a perfect movie-going experience! So go watch it when time permits. I guarantee, you won't be disappointed! :)
That Awkward Moment (2014)
Glad I saw it
Laughter. Offbeat and unconventional humor caused pure, undiluted laughter.
I still can't remember why I decided to give this movie a watch. Maybe I had nothing better to do that day, maybe I was longing for a romantic flick, who knows? But I'm glad I did.
I had an incredible time watching this film. All the lead actors seemed to be aware of the roles they were assigned to, and that lead to a very believable performance from each and every one of them. The story, though, was pretty predictable. The dialogues, however, wasn't. The friendship between the dudes was a very refreshing one since it wasn't dull, tedious, and forced. Their chemistry felt quite natural, smooth, and real.
The romantic aspect was portrayed nicely that it never felt overdone or sappy; just enough to keep the viewers interested, with some odd humor thrown in between to keep the situation from getting mawkishly sentimental.
So, if you're still dubious about watching this film, set your doubts aside and go watch it. 'Cause it sure is worth it.
X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)
Finally the X-men film the franchise needed
The plot is as complicated as the title itself, but it's done so masterfully that there's no scope for complaints.
The acting is superb, and the chemistry between the cast members is noteworthy. It grips you instantly from the get-go with an elaborately orchestrated action sequence, and keeps you on the hook till the very end.
Even when there's not much going on-screen, the emotional intensity feels very real and palatable.
The introduction of Quicksilver couldn't be any better. He steals every scene that he's in, and makes vital contributions whenever he's needed. Hugh Jackman once again kills it as Wolverine. Only this time he shows his depth of the character in a more vulnerable and experienced way.
There is a couple of surprises throughout the film, and the inclusion of humor every now and then- makes the movie worth every penny!
The conflict of ideologies between the Professor and Magneto is impartially depicted. And the dark past of a few major characters is carefully handled.
Overall, a solid A+. And a must-see film of 2014.
Gravity (2013)
GRAVITY sucked out all the story
After seeing it being rated an impressive 8.2 on IMDb, I decided to watch it in 3D with all my friends!! And to be honest, I was visually blown away as I've seen nothing like this before!!
But, after I picked myself up and moved past that initial awe of awesomeness, I found how empty and dull this film actually is!!
The dialogues were so boring, and even completely unnecessary at times. The acting though was pretty believable, but such a poorly written script couldn't provide the support that it required!!
There was so much irritating and pointless background score build up which ended in nothing, and the director used Sandra Bullock by making her strip at all the unorthodox places- which involves Space, and even Underwater!!
But, if you can look past the atrocious dialogues and the sorry excuse for a plot, I bet the visuals will surprise you!!
Hope you enjoy watching Sandra Bullock scream and gasp for air for 90 minutes... with excellent visuals!!
Justice League: War (2014)
Justice League For a New Generation
It's sort of a reboot for the whole Justice League franchise with new character designs, slick costumes, and very upbeat and witty dialogues which I thoroughly enjoyed!!
Here, everything is shown from the beginning. The characters are not aware about each other's presence, doesn't get along at first, and even battle each other... sort of like in "The Avengers".
The battles are gorgeous 'cause the Teamwork really works, and aside that, unlike other DC films, this is not gritty and dark; in fact, very funny!! They sort of went "Marvel" with their humors, yet they kept true to their characters and knew when to pull the plug when it was required.
Some clichés though were maintained, yet I had a very entertaining time with this one. And it definitely gets my seal of approval!
