Real Buddy (2014)
If you are a fan of German SciFi, you're gonna enjoy this film.
Oh, this was a fun watch. I first saw the film at the Miami International Science Fiction Film Festival. There has been a re-edit since I last saw it at MiSciFi.
For one, the cast has a good lineup. Heinrich Schafmeister, has been in Popular TV shows for the past three decades, such as; Wilsberg, Der Staatsanwalt, and Kinder, Kinder spanning over three decades. Eric Gladhart has been in a few films, and Steve Hudson, who has loads of awards from films, True North, Goodbye, and Co/Ma. A little trivia; Hudson's film career got started as an extra in the classic "Full Metal Jacket."
Along with a fun set of characters, a hell hole, and a good setup to the story. The practical effects give the film that 80's retro feel. Watching this end of the world comedy came with a twist that I will not spoil.
Die Beobachtung (2011)
A fun film for all to see..
The Observation also known as Die Beobachtung was a fun film. I had the opportunity to see the film at the 2012 Little Rock International Film Festival. Set in present day Germany, the film has a small cast but goes right to the subject. It has nice theme music and is subtitled in English. You can follow the film's pace without reading much of the subtitles. The choice of words and acting was done very nicely. It made me feel like I was not listening to German.
The film is just under 20 minutes, so in the end I felt it would make a nice feature length story. I hope a longer version becomes released. I enjoyed the film and would recommend it to others.
Wolf (2012)
Shocking, chilling, a well made film about the times. . .
This film leaves you talking about it for days. Well written and a heavy story so be ready for a few twists and turns. I had the opportunity of viewing "Wolf" at the 2012 Little Rock International Film Festival.
I applaud the festival for screening this film. The quality of the film was very good and the cast was well chosen. Their performances and scenes were very convincing. The shocking events that take place fit the title for the story.
Up to the very end of the film, you will be guessing what will happen next. I look forward to the film at my local cinema in South Florida or via HBO. It is a film you will tell your friends about. Well done.
Born & Raised (2012)
A good story for all to enjoy.
I had the fortune of watching this film at the Miami International Film Festival. I must give the film its credit. The story is well written. Nick Loritsch who also has the leading role does an excellent job of carrying the story well. Jackson Pyle who plays Nick's grandfather and Arlan Godthaab do a great job keeping the back story alive. Dawntavia Bullard, Keith Hudson along with Nick Loritsch brings this story to reality for many living in the culturally rich gulf region in the USA. I tip my hat to an excellent job the cast and crew of the Born & Raised production team. Good luck with your festivals, and I hope to catch the show again via broadcast, cable or stream. I will surely tell my friends not to miss this feel good film. It will leave you talking about it for days.
Zombie Beach (2010)
If you like zombies, do not miss this one.
I saw this film at the Lucerne International Film Festival. I was expecting a simple plot. Instead, the story was well thought-out and had a nice twist. Many scenes are shot very well. They used natural effects and pulled it off. Some shots appear to look as if it where shot with film. I am impressed. The story was well written. They had a good cast, the actors fit their roles quite nicely. The film is better than most zombie films. I enjoyed it. Nice locations, (set in Toronto region) and setting. The musical score sounds great and has a good mix to it. I tip my hat to the director with a good sense of imagination. A good zombie film.
