Last Night (2010)
Two Kinds of betrayal
Film considers two kinds of betrayal: physically and emotionally. For her, as a woman, controlling her body is far easier than her emotions. For him who is emotionally faithful, this is physical attraction which is hard to avoid. So each of them have to face with their own way of being tempted. They fail at this examination but they they don't want to, so they do what they think is right.
At the end some questions remained in my mind: first, does what they decide to do, compensate their primary surrenders? And how much truly realized is this act of loyalty? Another question is that which one did the harder job, her or him? A question I did not really cared to be answered was whether they confess to each other or not. I think this is not among the topics film is about and that's why it neglects to answer it.
The movie considers the other man and woman as much as is needed, we care about them yet not as much as the main couple. They seem not to have as honest reasons as the main couple for what they want and do. I admire the way the movie avoided charged scenes and turned into smart talks. I even liked the (in my opinion) false affairs, they were not dangerous and troublesome instead they were romantic, passionate and desperate.
There were a comparison mentioned in the movie where she accuses him to be attracted to someone else which he innocently accepts and apologizes then she herself faces attraction and acts upon it. This is an invitation for not judging people for being tempted but for what they do about it.
Zapreshchyonnaya realnost (2009)
Nice Translation of Dreams
I've just watched this movie on TV. I liked it. It was like a sci-fi poem. I write sci-fi stories and I found some of my images being translated to pictures. And they were nice pictures with acceptable level of special effects.
I don't know why they say it was about nothing. The storyline was so clear. It was about a man who fights against using his own technology in an evil way. Some good people helps him to fight the evil and find his powers, and also he meets a girl. The evil in the movie is so dark and the good is too white. Since the evil notion was developing inside the mind I was expecting the final battle to happen in a library and it did! There is only one negative point about the movie which is where they did not consider international audience especially in other countries than Russia who are accustomed to faster rhythm and more talkative characters.
But for me, I just can say I liked it.
Pride & Prejudice (2005)
Spirit & Industery
1.The characters Jane Austin created are live and brilliant and the story of changing to better in love is respectful.
2.The movie shots are so beautiful yet so real.
3.The music comes from heart. You feel when you hear.
4.The script touches the spirit of Jane Austin' joyful and romantic world. The changes are acceptable in order to make the drama suitable for the screen.
5.The cast do their job with no mistakes.
6.The idea of plan-sequences is done with great sense of art and technique.
So, if you like Jane Austin's Pride & Prejudice then you will enjoy Joe Wright's one too.
* The movie begins and ends at dawn.
