Minutemen (2008)
I like the overall concept
I'm 19 and what can I say I love these simple plots and amusing character-story lines. The Minutemen is an amusing piece about how those little things mean so much. Even those large moments are more important than we often first give them credit for.
Charlie is a great character and Jeanette is a hoot. These two are funny to watch and I'd watch it again for no other reason than them.
Zeke is... tall. But he really connects with the inner self that believes we need nothing more than ourselves.
Virgil, however, has fewer redeemable qualities. While I commend Jason's acting ability (while watching the entire movie I never once found him to be like his "Cory in the House" character) this character is so unlikeable. Virgil is callous and too self-centered.
Personally my favorite character is Jeanette. And the hero is Charlie, not Virgil.
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
Through this film I have realized something about GL
I have heard a lot of criticism towards George L. about bad dialog and story writing and his ' screw up' in the prequels.
Well at first I agreed with the bad dialog writing because I hadn't thought about it completely. But after seeing RotS I have come to disagree. While i enjoy a good mindless dialog, as an acting student and committed thespian, I have realized that GL puts a LOT of confidence in his actors and in his cinematography team. I do agree that dialog is something missing from the movies, I also have to argue that not saying something is sometimes more powerful then anything GL could write and hope to get on screen. I see RotS as a bridge between the old and the new. While RotS has gotten a few bad raps, I don't agree with them. If you are a devoted Star Wars fan and know the story line (personally I read the book first), and basically what is going to happen then sit down and enjoy the emotion that is brought to screen through the acting and cinematography.
As I have told any that have asked me, "I read the books for the plots and characters. I go to the movies for the hot actors, the music and the special effects."
