Adrienne (2021)
A Wonderful Love Letter With Just One Wish...
I also had no idea that Adrienne Shelly directed Waitress, until I watched this documentary, which I'm so grateful I did.
Her husband and daughter walked us through a wonderful love letter for Adrienne Shelly. It was very well put together and produced.
My only wish is for her husband to forgive the clearly remorseful murderer. If Adrienne's husband would have forgiven him, it would have given him and his daughter the peace and closure he mentioned not having towards the end. That would have been the happiest ending to a tragic story. But, I get it. Judaism doesn't teach forgiveness as compared to Christianity, where it is the companion to love. To forgive is one of the most difficult things to do as a human being, but it is the one thing that brings closure, peace, and freedom after a tragedy.
This documentary did a great job of honoring Adrienne Shelly and was so well done that it had the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the liberating power of forgiveness, for the sake of her husband and daughter.
Clickbait (2021)
Vincent Chase and a bunch of extras
This series could have been great but clearly the producers were on a tight budget. I guess they could only afford Vincent Chase for the pilot and some B Roll scenes.
Acting and directing were so unbearable I just skipped to the last episode to avoid being click baited.
Ari Gold... You and E need to get Vincent some better roles.

The Morning Show (2019)
The Morning Show could have been great if...
It were written as a comedy and from Steve Carrell's POV. Him and Aniston would get to showcase their comedic strengths then throw in Reese and the rest of the cast to build around them.
It would have been cool to see them be funny and build their characters from there, then go through the drama of the bombshell.
The overcussing and the over placement of iPhones and Macs was as if a 19 year old intern was the writer, following a college assignment to write a script for an Apple TV show.
I'm a huge Aniston and Carrell fan, so perhaps I'm greedy when I was hoping to see their comedic chemistry from the start, but oh well.
Voyagers (2021)
If Teenagers Were In Charge (aka Lord of the Flies)
Like the other reviewers, this had so much potential to be a great movie, but the writers and director chose to go with Lord of the Flies in space. If they would have done a continuation of Passengers (Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence), where their kids have to survive, then that would have been more interesting.
Instead, the just made all the teenagers annoying, except for two, to show good overcomes evil.
A Little Late with Lilly Singh (2019)
She tries too hard to be funny...
Lilly just isn't funny as much as she tries to be. Even if you want to laugh, it's like she's trying too hard instead of letting the humor come to her, more naturally.
I get that the studio and her agent might think she's funny, but it's just not working.
Last Christmas (2019)
VERY underrated movie. BRILLIANT twist in dedication to George Michael fans!
Thank you Emma Thompson for producing this very underrated movie. Does it have the quality of Game of Thrones character development and storylines? No. Does it have the same appeal as Crazy Rich Asians? Probably not. But, does it do a great job putting a musician's catalog of songs into a fictional story? ABSOLUTELY!
If you're a George Michael fan, and watch the movie from his song's perspective and get past the romantic comedy category that this film falls under, you'll appreciate what it does to his music. Is there cheese? Sure, but that's part of the charm to get to the twist.
Not knowing the twist is the best way to watch this movie to experience what it is doing in dedication to George Michael.
I would have rated this movie a 10, but they missed out on some of George's songs that they could have included, but for whatever reason, they didn't.
If you got this far in my review and you haven't seen it, and you're a George Michael fan, and you're into the Christmas spirit... Go see it.
GLOW: Outward Bound (2019)
Why do writers inject propaganda into scripts?
When they do that, it's a tall tell sign that they've run out of creative material and have a deadline to meet. I get it. Show biz is a business. But at least have the balls not to put the quality of the show at risk.
For example, Jenny, the Asian wrestler played by Ellen Wong, goes through the episode carrying some fake anger stemming from racism, a highly overused and weaponized word today, but really a non-issue back in the 80s, especially in the Asian community which I know personally.
The show is great when it accurately depicts the 80s, but when the writers try to inject today's social issues, it just comes across as propaganda.
A Wrinkle in Time (2018)
How did this get pass pre-screening reviews?
Usually, movies are pre-screened with audiences before they're released so it can be tested for feedback before it goes out to distribution.
I'm almost certain when this movie got pre-screened the people who saw it were either friends or relatives, because it couldn't have done well at all, otherwise, during its pre-screening reviews. I guess that means if you make a $100m movie with Disney, they'll just ignore or fudge the pre-screening feedback and release it.
There's no way this was legitimately pre-screened because it was a hot mess for anyone who is a fan of movies.
Unplanned (2019)
Haters view from a political perspective instead of the story telling
Reading the reviews of the critics who didn't like this movie, tend to based their opinion on their view of abortion instead of seeing it for the story it tells. No one in Hollywood would touch this movie because of its subject matter, but if you put aside your view on abortion and watch it from a story perspective, it shows a side that is rarely told.
If you like people who take on risks against all odds, to tell a story that is never told, Unplanned will do just that.
Shameless: BOOOOOOOOOOOONE! (2019)
The writing and directing is just terrible this season
I'm sorry. I was so loyal to this show when it was funny but it got way too political and the acting feels likes a corporate training video on diversity - how to act and not to act. The soundtrack and any scene with Kevin, Carl, and Lip are what keeps the show going.
Stranger Things (2016)
Very well casted and very well 80s accurate
First, props to Wynonna Rider for pulling off the obsessive mom, who dancea on the edge of crazy. I was a kid in the 80s so to watch the Stranger Things kids behave like I did and the attention to 80s detail the director made it like they were born in that era, even though they weren't, was pretty incredible. If you think about it, Drew Barrymore was a child in E.T. which was set in the 80s but was current time back then. The team did a fantastic job making Stranger Things feel like a modern-day 80s series.
Suits (2011)
8/10 for Seasons 1-7, but a 1/10 for Season 8
Seasons 1-7 were great. The character and conflict that was Mike Ross made the show entertaining to watch. But, after he left, the show lost all its energy. The show tried to throw a Hail Mary by adding Katherine Heigl and some terrible soap opera actor who's character is named Alex. To see how bad of an actor he is, just watch any episode of Game of Thrones then watch him act. Just disappointing how great this series was, and that the producers didn't wrap it after season 7. Instead, they made it so much worse by trying to patch it up with bad acting and bad writing.
Game of Thrones (2011)
A Modern Masterpiece
First Sopranos, then Breaking Bad, and now Game of Thrones. We are all living in the greatest times for entrainment, through the TV series.
The characters, the storyline, the script, the acting, the cinematography, and the attention to detail makes Game of Thrones, hands down, the king of television.
If you don't like stories about fantasy or medieval times, but you enjoy watching great stores, then try the first 5 episodes Game of Thrones. By then, you should be hooked.
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
Better than "A Star is Born"
The music + the acting + the way it was edited was just spot on. Definitely worth watching in the theater for how the Live Aid concert was done to perfection. Rami deserves an Oscar.
Free your mind and don't listen to the fake news reviews that low-balled this movie.
Suits: Promises, Promises (2018)
Used to love this show...
I've watched this show from the beginning, and as much as I want this show to be great, it's now terrible. The guy who plays Alex is a terrible actor and every scene he is in, is cringworthy.
The casting and directing seem to be outsourced to whoever turned The Walking Dead into also a once great, now awful show.
Please get rid of Alex and make Harvey strong again.
